Michael Jordan - 47 points vs Atlanta Hawks (Dec 27, 1997)

Michael Jordan had another outstanding performance as host Chicago defeated Atlanta, 97-90, to take over the lead in the Eastern Conference.
Jordan scored 47 points and shot 69% (18-for-26 from the field) while the rest of the team, still without Scottie Pippen, combined for 50 points and 32% (19-for-59). The Hawks tried numerous defensive schemes, but Jordan at times made it look so easy that it seemed like he was playing a different game in a distinct space. Atlanta was at his mercy.
"The Worm" continued his superb play from the last weeks when he collected 29 rebounds, the most in his two and a half seasons with the Bulls. He also hit a couple of tough shots that got the crowd fired up.
Chicago has won seven consecutive games and defeated three division leaders (Atlanta, Miami and the Los Angeles Lakers) in a 10-day span.
It was Phil Jackson's 500th win as the head coach of the Bulls.

I came here to watch a game where MJ is close to the same age Lebron is now to see if MJ just takes plays off on defense or looks around to blame teammates anytime the other team scores. Just as I suspected I see no such thing. I see a GOAT playing HARD on BOTH ENDS OF THE FLOOR.

This game was the start of a tear for Jordan, where he scored 40+ in 6 out of 13 consecutive games, including 3 out of 4, in order to get the Bulls back up in the standings. They went 10-3 in that stretch and won all the games he scores 40+ in.

Michael Jordan plays wonderful,while Scottie Pippin out. I'm not saying,Michael didn't need Scottie. I'm only responding to critics who said,Michael couldn't win any games without Pippin. Put MJ on any team, he still can win,just by simply motivating his teammates. MJ has became a God of NBA. In reference of small g. Great highlight my man.Thanks! Take care.

chili40m No one with half a brain has ever said Michael couldn't win Game's without Scottie. That would be complete nonsense MJ was in the league 4 yrs before Scottie ever showed up. And went to the playoffs Every season...So of course he won Game's without Pippen. The argument Alot of people say is that he never won a Championship without Scottie. Which is true however their are alot things conviently left out of that argument as well...

The only person the fans have ever really appreciated that was truly blue collar was Bill Russell. But he had to win 11 titles in 13 years vs Wilt Chamberlain (at the time considered Hercules on the basketball court) as the undisputed leader of the Celtics. Rodman deserves to be in the hall of fame.

The info, in the description, regarding Phil Jackson`s number of wins is INCORRECT! Phil reached his 500th win as a head coach of the Bulls two games prior to this match vs Hawks. Bulls won against LA Clippers on 23rd December 1997, and that was his 500th. This against Hawks was his 502nd win actually!
