The G.O.A.T simply. His take-offs, his first step, his time of suspension mixed with his speed of execution and his air balance made MJ an unstoppable war machine. I will not even talk about his mental and defensive qualities out of the ordinary. In the current league with all the changing NBA rules Jordan's stats would be classified top secret so it would be completely surreal.

No wonder my mother said that MJ is the player you will never grow tired of watching him play. I mean look at how he attacked the lanes, his footsteps even without basketball, his basketball IQ, his amazing defense, most important is his ability to read and execute through contact that we might be able to see anybody on the same level with MJ again.

i never understand why people think vince carter is a better in-game dunker. jordan was far more capable than carter at squeezing through cracks and dunking on top of contesting defenders crowding the rim. a lot of those baseline first step dunks are incredible given how much space he was allowed to operate. and the crazy thing is this highlight probably covered less than 40% of his in game dunks. the joy of watching jordan's highlight never gets old.
@domais68
@domais68 5 жыл бұрын
Agreed. "Best dunker" is a subjective matter. I enjoy Jordan's dunks far more than Carter's throw-downs. Carter was amazing, and I get why people put him at #1, but I prefer MJ's style.
@m74d3
@m74d3 4 жыл бұрын
@@domais68 I agree. Jordan's dunks simply looked better in my opinion. Carter dunked in a more ferocious manner, but Jordan dunked with more artistry and grace. Seeing MJ take off from just inside the free throw line and float through the air sideways before throwing it down just looked so much cooler than any of Carter's dunks

Exactly right. MJs dunks were an everyday thing. A routine for him and did it no matter what. Even if u have a 7 footer blocking his way he dunked on everyone and closed spaces something that u don’t see in today’s games. Damn! This guy is just unreal. When he jumps he still got the same weight force as if he is standing up with the ball above his head until he complete his dunks. This is why it was impossible to block his dunks. Players are in positions to block but Jordan's weight never shifts to weightless until after he dunks. The results is he can control his body when contact is made and the other players attempting to block his dunk start going back down soon after they make contact with him because his power which comes from keeping his weight in effect with his dunks is like a martial artist who never has a stands that makes him unbalance. Even when he lands he is still under control balance of his body. Amazing!

And that's one of the reasons I no longer have any interest in what today is called the 'NBA'. A bunch of overpaid inked-up gun shield wearing pretty boys with no sense of real grit and courage. The little I know about the lebron dude? There has never been any big enough in size and heart (and in numbers) to give lebron a raw Challenge in hell. An entire league of superstar big guys and tough guys went at Jordan again and again and again. Jordan's spirit courage and focus on court if you analyze it...the guy was a demon on court...,but a demon who embodied finesse skill I could go on. Thanks for the memories.

Unfuckingbelievable. Jordan didn't wait for the pick n roll, he didn't wait for a matchup advantage, he didn't wait for his teammates to spread the floor, Jordan didn't care if 1,2,3 defenders were defending the rim, or if even the best shot blockers/s were at the rim.. He dunked the ball as if no one was there. Consistently. With the same insane energy. The undisputed GOAT. Wow. Ps. My favorite Jordan dunks are with the hopstep setup.

11:42 - MJ goes from 35 feet out to a dunk in under 2 seconds. Fastest player in the halfcourt ever in terms of point A to point B speed. Also, no one has ever been a better or more versatile leaper in the halfcourt than Jordan - he was elite off of 1 foot, 2 feet, and off of a a hop step in any direction he could get major air. Some of the baseline dunks are insane - he barely even flexes his knees and gets huge air (for example 1:05, 1:44, 4:54, 7:40, 12:48). Love the stare-down after he dunks all in Mahorn's face at 2:26 lol. No player has ever gotten off the floor quicker than Jordan - crazy springs.

With the lanes as wide open as they are today (defensive 3-sec rule), his amount of dunks in this era would double. Because once you clear the initial defender (no hand/body-checking), there'd be little to virtually NO RESISTANCE to impede his drives or Bigs to challenge him at the rim at all. And that's WHY everything's either a 3pt shot or a dunk/layup in this era. Under these rules, a prime MJ would TERRORIZE this era!

The thing that people don’t get and don’t understand about MJs highlight dunks is, his dunks were different and spectacular than anyones nowadays because this guy didn’t wait for an open opportunity to dunk on u or wide open spaces . This guy did it anyhow and anytime no matter if there was a freaking 7 footer on his way, no matter if there were 3, 4 or 5 guys blocking his entrance to the basket, he did it anyway. He wasn’t a showtime dunker like u see in today’s game. He practically Had that in his blood and was one of his most potent weapons in the court. Today you see all these guys trying to emulate MJs or posting videos of highlight dunks when they r not being heavily guarded and yes, I know a few players had done their part with crazy dunks in today’s game but if you analyze and review their games, it’s not their every night thing just like MJ did.

You can find a few guys just as good as Jordan dunking. What you won't find is a better in your face, clogged up lane punisher, rim destroyer on the same level as Baldy...and I've seen them all.

I could watch this all day -- all those big dudes trying to stop him up there couldn't do anything... I especially love those breakaway dunks where he kind of leans sideways in the air as he floats to the basket ... so graceful like a ballerina... and then you realize how ferocious the dunk is once the ball goes through the net and bounces of his head or shoulder

Great collection!!! one noticable miss is the break away dunk from the 94-95 season in the playoffs against the Magic. He was rocking the space jam XI and did a full breakaway leaner dunk after a steal. One of my favorites.

the early days when he can jump over everyone. To go from that to perfecting his game shows his great ability to change as he gets older to a even more effective way of scoring I will jump backward several feet while they jump straight up said goat

And he did all this and a lot more in the toughest and more difficult era of basketball where real defense was played not like basketball in Lechoke's era....the cupcake era

I don't know what it is about his style of dunking but even the simple one hand jams looking just elegant and stylish. Never saw that after him. Is just like magic somehow. Only vc and kobe had a own style after mj. Todays player are incredible but everyone dunks like the same kind of style.
