Michael Jordan, in full Michael Jeffrey Jordan, byname Air Jordan, (born February 17, 1963, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.), American collegiate and professional basketball player widely considered to be one of the greatest all-around players in the history of the game. He led the Chicago Bulls to six National Basketball Association (NBA) championships (1991-93, 1996-98).
Jordan grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina, and entered the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1981. As a freshman, he made the winning basket against Georgetown in the 1982 national championship game. Jordan was named College Player of the Year in both his sophomore and junior years, leaving North Carolina after his junior year. He led the U.S. basketball team to Olympic gold medals in 1984 in Los Angeles and in 1992 in Barcelona, Spain.
In 1984 Jordan was drafted by the Chicago Bulls. In his first season (1984-85) as a professional, he led the league in scoring and was named Rookie of the Year; after missing most of the following season with a broken foot, he returned to lead the NBA in scoring for seven consecutive seasons, averaging about 33 points per game. He was only the second player (after Wilt Chamberlain) to score 3,000 points in a single season (1986-87). Jordan was named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) five times (1988, 1991, 1992, 1996, 1998) and was also named Defensive Player of the Year in 1988. In October 1993, after leading the Bulls to their third consecutive championship, Jordan retired briefly and pursued a career in professional baseball. He returned to basketball in March 1995. In the 1995-96 season Jordan led the Bulls to a 72-10 regular season record, the best in the history of the NBA (broken in 2015-16 by the Golden State Warriors). From 1996 to 1998 the Jordan-led Bulls again won three championships in a row, and each time Jordan was named MVP of the NBA finals. After the 1997-98 season Jordan retired again.
Jordan remained close to the sport, buying a share of the Washington Wizards in January 2000. He was also appointed president of basketball operations for the club. However, managing rosters and salary caps was not enough for Jordan, and in September 2001 he renounced his ownership and management positions with the Wizards in order to be a player on the team. His second return to the NBA was greeted with enthusiasm by the league, which had suffered declining attendance and television ratings since his 1998 retirement. After the 2002-03 season, Jordan announced his final retirement. He ended his career with 32,292 total points and a 30.12-points-per-game average, which was the best in league history, as well as 2,514 steals, the second most ever. In 2006 Jordan became minority owner and general manager of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats (now known as the Charlotte Hornets). He bought a controlling interest in the team in 2010 and became the first former NBA player to become a majority owner of one of the league’s franchises.
During his playing career, Jordan, a guard, standing 6 feet 6 inches (1.98 metres) tall, was an exceptionally talented shooter and passer and a tenacious defender. He earned the nickname “Air Jordan” because of his extraordinary leaping ability and acrobatic maneuvers, and his popularity reached heights few athletes (or celebrities of any sort) have known. He accumulated millions of dollars from endorsements, most notably for his Air Jordan basketball shoes. He also made a successful film, Space Jam (1996), in which he starred with animated characters Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. In 1996 the NBA named him one of the 50 greatest players of all time, and in 2009 he was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.

Hey Scott, I've been inside that house back in 1983. Jordans Dad and my Dad worked together at GE. Jordan was home for the weekend from UNC and my Dad took me over there to get his autograph. In the rear of the house is a sliding glass door and it goes into a sitting area and kitchen. Got to meet his Mom and younger brother to. Have not seen the house since. Thanks!!

I love your channel. I love Adam’s channel. But when you guys get together, it’s a great time. I really enjoy watching you both bring your knowledge and humor to whatever adventure you are letting us fans tag along with you on. I’m not really a huge basketball fan but everybody on the planet knows Michael Jordan and this was a very interesting topic. Hope to see more vlogs with the two of you. You have such a great chemistry.

This is my hometown! I was born and raised in Wilmington, and graduated from E.A. Laney high school. Home of the Buccaneer's! I had aunts and an uncle that went to school with Michael Jordan. Got a cousin who was the star of the varsity girls team at Laney too. I remember being in gym class my freshman year, and our vice principal gave a tour to MJ fans. I grew up being a Chicago Bulls fan because of MJ. Just seeing the school brought back so many memories! Thanks for the video!❤

Regarding the 1984 NBA draft. The Houston Rockets selected hall of fame center Hakeem Olajuwon #1. The Portland Trailblazers, selecting 2nd, had taken hall of fame guard Clyde Drexler in 1983, and they selected center Sam Bowie. That left Jordan for the Bulls at #3. Hall of famers Charles Barkley and John Stockton were also selected in the 84 draft.

Interesting Adam talking about Shaq…I also grew up in Orlando area but I actually went to the same high school and hadclasses with Shaq’s half brother and two sisters. They share a different father. But I lived one town over from Shaq’s mothers house and even once tried to sneak into the neighborhood past the guard booth to get to her house cause we heard there was a party lol. My father had season tickets to the Magic from the inaugural season in 89’ all the way through 96’ when we lost to Houston in the finals which after Shaq left to play for LA. I got to see Jordan play in person many times…I got to see all the 80’s and early 90 greats play in person. I was very fortunate!

I live in Canada. Baseball was my passion! Hockey was #2. SO For Baseball - Tony Fernandez. Hockey - Wendel Clark. Basketball - Michael Jordan. Boxing-Mike Tyson. Football - BO Jackson. I wasn't much of a basketball player- In grade 6 I made the team because I was big I could grab all the rebounds. What I didn't know was at half you switched ends. RIght off the tip I had possession and what I thought I had a wide open fast break in which I did nice layup ... but on my own net!!

7:58 // the biggest obstacle for most students is the teachers locking up the school's gym. but not where in Brantford i was High schooled. SJC had a thing for allowing (i guess any one, coz i got away with it) any one that wanted to show up and shoot around in the gym. there were monday nights when the alumni adults showed up and they might allow some student to shoot too. one was the local Crown Attorney weekends were off limits since all the hours were filled with CYO and Briers but during the week. from even 8am - 9am (home room at 9am), i could get in the gym and shoot around and this was at a school that had a history of winning. but i was the only one shooting around. after school, 2/3 of the gym was busy with some practice, but the 1/3 left was usually open and after 5pm for sure // the Janitors Run the school after 3:30pm. and once in with them, any kid can score a few good shots before having to go to an empty home. just saying, Shoot .

18 minute mark One of the biggest reasons why leafs sell so well and Leafs' Fans show up on the road, is because of the Lower cost. No shit // I used to have Gold rail seats (in 1970s/80s these went for $50 each, back then prices) they were located on the penalty box side, enemy end, along the glass, two Sheets of short Glass from large glass (where the puck is dropped for a face off to the goalie's right hand side) them seats today be so expensive, it would be less expensive to drive to Buffalo watch a game or drive to Buff Airport and fly to any where in the usa and buy the same seats along the rail and its still cheaper than going to the land of the Blue and white. beat boston tonight.
