As a Chicago fan, I will forever thank Portland for taking Bowie.
@mikeroagreschen5350 Жыл бұрын
[Sad trombone sound] In hindsight, both Houston and Portland passed on the GOAT. Houston at least got a legendary center who carried them to two championships. Bowie had injury issues; he was considered to be a guy with a lot of potential. Plus the Blazers already had a 2 guard in Drexler. But yeah. I'm a Bulls fan too. Michael needed to be in the heartland of the country. Not up in the Pacific Northwest. He was America's player. Nike... Gatorade... McDonald's... starring in a music video with Michael Jackson. Jordan transcended basketball similar to how Muhammad Ali transcended boxing. Jordan is an icon. The guy who currently plays for the Lakers is just a basketball player.

I never watched basketball as a kid, but when these finals came on TV while I was a teenager, I was riveted to every game. The Flu Game has been a formative moment throughout my life. It's pretty certain that I'll probably never do anything on this Earth at the same level of skill that Michael Jordan played basketball. That level of skill is totally beyond me. But more than once, in absolutely miserable shape, I've done some very average things with the kind of determination Jordan showed, and it's got me through some very tough times. Most of us will never have that kind of talent. But the kind of determination and will to keep going he showed is something we can all shoot for.
