Man oh man, what a time for NBA ball. Unreal. The smoothness with which LA ran the fast-break; the triangle actually being fresh; the quick D step-ins and blocks-beautiful stuff.

It's great to watch D that's caught out-of-position because of advanced double-teaming schemes designed to create mismatches, and not because defenses are too lazy to pay attention to their man while get lulled to sleep watching a guard do 12 crossovers around the perimeter.

@Drake The Warriors were great because the rules of the game today favor and protect perimeter players. Magic didn't have those advantages in the 80s. Imagine not being able to handcheck a 6-9 Magic Johnson. He would be a nightmare in today's game. And it depends which Warriors team you're talking about. With Durant, GSW probably has the advantage over the 91 Lakers. But an early 80s team with Magic and Kareem would probably have a shot.

Litty 3 Titty I never called Lebron trash because I’m not a hater I just don’t think he’s the GOAT. Neither one of them are perfect but Jordan did more in less time, and he could possibly have more rings if he didn’t retire early. Lebron is great, but MJ’s mental toughness, and mindset is what separates him from the rest.
@dazdavis7896
@dazdavis7896 8 ай бұрын
@@nicekix3038you’re an idiot. Michael Jordan is the best athlete to EVER play professional sports period.. Remove Lebron’s dick from your throat. With his 42 inch vert.. Jordan had a 48 inch vert. 4 fucking foot vertical leap. Highest in NBA history. NOT Lebron James. AND he ran a 4.3/40, he was fast as shit he could blow by anybody. He had the quickest first step in league history. Go ahead and sit back down kid. Lebron was NEVER EVEN CLOSE to the athlete MJ was. Not even slightly. He could not do even HALF the things MJ did here at this time period at his peak. This isn’t an argument. MJ is quite literally directly stated and voted by a blatantly overwhelming majority of ALL sports pundits to be the greatest athlete period of the 20th century. The greatest athlete ever in any sport. He’s literally been voted and directly stated as the greatest athlete of all-time. There IS NO weaseling your way around that. Get off the Lebron dickriding train, stop fooling yourself, and accept reality of fact. Lebron doesn’t run a 4.3 and Lebron doesn’t have no 48 inch 4 foot vertical leap. Nowhere even close to either of those. Not even remotely. Lebron isn’t even in the top 3 athletes in NBA history, let alone the greatest. Jason Richardson and Vince Carter put him to shame too, Shawn Kemp was a better athlete than him as a 6’10 power foward that could do everything a small foward and even most shooting guards could do. Lebron is MAYBE in 5th. MAYBE. At the absolute best. He’s nowhere near MJ on any level. DEFINITELY not in athleticism. Thats what made MJ “Air Jordan”.. That’s what made him so great to begin with. Lebron is just big. He’s 6’8-6’9 and 250 lbs. Kemp was bigger than him at 6’10 and 245-255 and had over a 40 inch vert too. About the same as Lebron’s 42 inches. If you’re bigger than somebody and have the same Vertical as them when they should be ahead of you, you’re the better athlete. Period. Keep was fast as shit for somebody 6’10 too. All you had to do was throw it anywhere near the rim/backboard and he was goin up to get it and slam it thru. Every time. Same with MJ. Lebron had to have a FULL head of steam sprinting at the bucket from half court or beyond to be able to hop up and catch it from anywhere and jam it like that. Stop with this “Lebron is better” at ANY aspect than Jordan bullshit already. It’s blatantly, utterly false. MJ was the greatest athlete of all-time kid.

This Lakers team was actually a shell of their Showtime talent by '91. Gone were the likes of McAdoo, Kareem, Cooper, Wilkes, Nixon, and Coach Riley. They had essentially become a half-court team despite what you see here. NBC analysts said they made the "transition from Showtime to Slowtime." Despite this, they still won 58 games (3rd best overall) that season including 16 straight at one point. But, by Finals time, they were injured worn out and couldn't keep up with the young, hungry and athletic young Bulls.

@dachicagoan It's not an argument those are FACTS. Jordans Bull's are so much hype. They are so great they had to wait for the great NBA team's of the 80s to fall apart and pick up a bunch of their player's. Then play in an NBA with depleted talent pool due to expansion. Bull's didn't have to worry about wing play against Magics Laker's because they all got injured.
@cobra7282
@cobra7282 4 жыл бұрын
@@thegreatrainman2336 They didn't have to "wait" for anyone. They simply just fully hit their stride in the 90-91 season. They never lost a single series during MJ's career in which they were the team with home court advantage. They just simply ran into what were better teams at the time and that had a lot to do with them just not having the needed experience yet to beat those teams. Fron 89-90 to 90-91 they made a jump from 55 wins to the best record in the league with 65 wins. Once they took that last step there wasn't anyone that was going to beat them. Not the late 80s Pistons, early to mid 80s Lakers or the mid 80s Celtics.

@@ezirulez4eva175and the facts are Magic only had those 5, and lost in the finals multiple times. Jordan had 6, and NEVER once lost in the finals. 6 is more than 5. And 6-0 trumps anything else. Jordan’s 6-0 trumps Bill Russell’s 11. There were literally 10 teams in the entire league back then. Jordan won 6 against 30-32 teams. When there’s 10 teams in the league EVERYBODY makes the playoffs. People don’t seem to understand that little detail about Russell’s titles. He had a 1 in 10 chance to win it every single year. By the time he won his last title, there were only 14-15 teams in the league. Now go ahead and sit back down. Nobody’s “pressed”, They’re stating facts too kid. 6-0 compared to 5-2. People today don't realize how good these squads were. People look at this Lakers squad for instance and think these players are nothing compared to today which is a joke become they got it ass backwards. Guys like AC Green and Elden Campbell would be monsters in today's game. Big Game James and Magic are obviously two of the greatest. Even Byron Scott was a really good player. And the guys who retired including guys like Michael Cooper would be great today. Magic thinks Showtime would destroy today's GSW team - I don't know about destroy but I think they might win - maybe not this exact version but Showtime from the mid to late 80's would definitely win. These guys are simply too big for GSW and could run all day. GSW wouldn't be able to stop any of them.

Jordan guarded Magic the entire game and Bulls got this regular season win. Such a joke that some fans still think that Magic later burned Jordan in Game 1 of 91 Finals. The Bulls were up by one in the closing seconds of that game and lost on a Sam Perkins 3. Lakers got the W but Jordan outplayed Magic in Game 1; Magic had 19 points and 11 assists. Jordan had 36 points and 12 assists. MJ was the ultimate competitor. He always said he used his rivals as rocket fuel to spur himself on. In 1988 he had surpassed Bird and Magic to win league MVP for the first time. Then Kareem retired and Magic started carrying the Lakers on his own, which resulted in his performances pushing him to back-to-back league MVPs, though he would never again win another NBA championship. Mike needed that push from Magic to be even better than he was before, to reclaim the MVP and push his team to a first-ever NBA championship in 1991. Further examples include 1993 when he lost the league MVP to Barkley, then crushed him in the Finals when the Bulls met Barkley's Phoenix Suns; also in the same 1991 playoffs run when Jordan wiped the floor with Isiah Thomas and his "Bad Boys" Pistons after losing to them in consecutive playoff years.

Ben Smith I'm talking about a lot of things in both your comments. 1. You said when LeBron scored 48 against the Pistons he was 11 for 13 from the field....he was 18 for 33, but still one his best games ever, I'll give him that. 2. You said that Pistons team were the champions the year before....that year was 07, and they won in 04, 3 years before. 3. You said that Pistons team was better than the 91 Lakers team that MJ beat because they were "declining" and Magic was close to retirement....that team was NOT declining and Magic was NOT close to retirement because he was 31, and the ONLY reason he retired was because he got HIV, not because he was old! 4. You said that Pistons team won the year before (wrong again), and had Ben Wallace and Tracy McGrady...they didn't have either one of them in 07 against LeBron, including Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown who coached the Pistons 3 years earlier (not the year before) when they won the title. 5. You said that 07 Pistons team was better than the Pistons when MJ beat them because all they had was Thomas & Dumars while everyone else was 31 to 35...they also had a prime Dennis Rodman that had just won his 2nd consecutive DPOY award, and that 07 Pistons team was NOT better than the 91 Pistons team. Just a few things I quickly noticed reading your two comments, and if you think I'm lying, then fact check what I just said and prove me wrong.

Magic came to a team that was in the playoffs every year and that year for the Lakers was no different than any other accept that they won the Championship. Jordan came to a team full has beens and weak players, so he was the best player on the Bulls as a rookie and needed a team built around him.

+gnicevids He never "got sick". Eazy E is an example of someone who got sick from the virus. Magic was just merely diagnosed with having the virus (HIV). There's a difference (and a BIG DIFFERENCE at that), between having full blown A.I.D.S, and merely testing positive for the HIV virus. When one actually get's sick (from the HIV virus), that means that they've developed full blown (A.I.D.S), to which he NEVER has (even till this day). That's WHY he was able to compete in the '92 Olympics.

So was Magic. Magic was the very epitome of a floor general actually making his TEAM better. And was an overal more skillful player. You could have Kareem, like the single best big in history, out for a finals game and have a 21 year old rookie Magic step up as a center and wreck havoc. Lebrun 15 years in the league, still cant play post up consistently.
