If this was a water polo match.... if this was a car race... if this was a game of marbles.... it's not, it's a hockey series and the Rangers have been the better team. Carolina is trying to win the analytic cup and forgetting that at the end of the game they need more goals than the other team.

Canes analysts keep harping on the fact that they are playing better. I beg to differ. Our D is so much better. We don't make mistakes and don't give up juice rebounds (except when they have 6-5). All shots are on the perimeter and we can count on Igor to stop whatever comes at him.

Common misconception seeing the shot on goal difference but the quality of the hurricanes shots vs quality of the Rangers... Carolina has their moments where they look dominant but Rangers take advantage of their chances more and have been much better on special teams

Canes are doing the best they can with the talent they have and doing a pretty good job. The Rangers are proving they are the better team with their elite skaters all producing and their goalie doing what he does best - takes over games.

Our D is not getting enough credit. They are not allowing a lot of good shots, rebounds, while making stretch passes to kickstart the offense. On the other hand, Canes D is allowing odd man rushes including break aways and letting us get goals up close. Big difference in play.

I can see cases both ways, idk how sustainable it is for rempe to be a 5min player and not to his fault, but he's a penalty magnet. they're not in Carolina so he's not electrifying the crowd like in MSG, this seemed like a good spot for Chytil to make a return. Now we have options. Cuhllye is an unsung hero in his play on the 3rd/4th lines, so consistent and plays beyond his years.

The Rangers are playing chess and Carolina is playing checkers. You can take a 1000 easy shots, and the more you take the more that bounce the other way and leave you naked. And you're worn out from working so hard to try to create the chaos in the first place. Smart and disciplined always beats chaos at this level.

I'm actually surprised that Rod has not adjusted. Canes are way too aggressive and leaving our offense to counter. They are trying to force us to make a mistake but so far, our D has done a good job of countering.

Don if you been watching the Rangers all year you would know this is what the Rangers have done all year. Outside of January they were this good to start and end the season. The metrics don't measure the one thing the Rangers have been going all year...heart\will\effort. All year it was, their numbers are bad but they win.

The Canes only look like they played better. But they have never been a threat to the Rangers. Their shots are mostly perimeter low percentage which are going to get eaten up by a goalie like Shesterkin. The Rangers keep taking the slot away and the only time they have looked good is with the empty net and six guys on the ice. They scored 2 goals that way because they crash the net which is where the Rangers live on their end.
