What an entrance! Between “Batman”, “Beetlejuice” and “Mr. Mom”, Michael Keaton was a pretty big part of my childhood (“Back to the Future”, “Ghostbusters” and TMNT filled the rest of it). Loved him for years now. Huge fan of him for decades.

I thought Johnny was a little off his game early on. He missed a couple of good things from Keaton while he was more interested in talking than listening. The "My brother owes me $10" line would have been a great to work from, but he wasn't paying attention or didn't hear it. But it was, as you say, like a normal conversation rather than an interview after they got going.

Johnny Carson one of a kind, if he liked you, he'd give a hard time, if he didn't, same - only not as long. Hard is what made Johnny, he was hardest on himself. Genius at seeing things through flawlessly. Nonetheless, successfully, which is difficult for anyone. Very funny, likable man. Fortunately for Johnny, he was at the right place at the right time and if you were fortunate enough to be watching Johnny Carson then, you at right place, at right time as well! Miss him. Countless, untold, yet quite imaginable what it must have been like to be one of Johnny Carson's many friends & we all miss him! Personable & memorable. H e e e r r e ' s to Johnny🏆!

The film received mixed reviews and holds a 44% approval rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes based on 16 reviews. According to Mary G. Hurd, the film "is loaded with sight gags, one liners, numerous sexual jokes, and puns". But many critics found it to be a comedy which relies on sophomoric humor. According to Gwendolyn Audrey Foster, the film is both a gangster comedy and an homage to 1930s gangster films, but is perhaps too clever for a mainstream audience. According to Leigh Hallisey, the film is a parody of "old-school" gangster films and reveals Heckerling's awareness of their conventions and stereotypes. Foster finds the comedies of Amy Heckerling to rely on "fast-paced, witty repartee and droll humor", and draws comparisons to those of Frank Tashlin and Jerry Lewis.
