Hey Michael can you do more pro-Christianity videos? Your ability to articulate arguments that defend the Bible and faith in God is quite refreshing compared to the mostly negative political commentary we usually hear about on the dailywire and the MSM at large.

@@HughJorgan1 that is absolutely incorrect.I think Ben killed it when he participated in the exodus series. He was more knowledgeable than all the scholars in the round table discussion.Believe me when I say that .I have been studying Old Testament now for 15 years.I think here Michael exposed Hitchens lies which is good because Hitchens manipulated the mass with his journalistic abilities not by facts. He took things out of context and intimidated his opponent than providing solid reasons for his atheistic position

@@historian9484lol! It’s hilarious people say Hitchens “lied” yet also think their belief in fictional Gods (pick one) is based on truth. All Hitchens did was point out the major flaws in religion’s belief systems. Hate to break it to you my friend but the Old Testament is a book of lies, contradictions, hate, and ridiculous fictional stories. Even Einstein (who believed in the Christian God) famously wrote that taking everything in the Bible literally is “childish and naive”. This was the foundation for most of Hitchens’ arguments. Knowles lost all credibility when he referred to the Bible for evidence. It’s like referring to Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy for evidence of past civilizations.

I was a Christopher Hitchens through my late teens and 20s. I was the obnoxious drunk at the party who made fun of religious people and came across as quite intelligent because I was witty and well spoken , I'm also Scottish which can kind of give that impression. I absolutely agree that when I think back to then it makes me curle up with embarrassment. For one I knew nothing about Christianity, I knew nothing about what Christians actually believed and making the decision to actually read the bible for myself about 3 years ago I learned fairly quickly that I was way off in my militant atheism. Over about 6 months the idea of a creator entering their creation to fix it didn't seem that farfetched to me when you understand what is actually being explained.

You can look up the history on this just in case you think I'm presenting a sales pitch here. there were more than 5 types of slavery. The servitude/slavery his referring to is not the western chattel slavery where people were treated like they are subhuman. The scriptures below can give you more context; 1 Timothy 1:10 "for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, *for slave traders* and liars and perjurers-and for *whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine* " Colossians 4:1 "Masters, *provide your slaves with what is right and fair,* because you know that you also have a Master in heaven." Ephesians 6:9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. *Do not threaten them,* since *you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.* Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

My start at being a better and much more knowledgeable Catholic started in high school, particularly with one of my closest friends, and he still is, but in high school we got into BIG arguments over religion. He’s quoting Hitchens and all that, and sometimes I didn’t know what to say because I just didn’t know the proper facts yet. He tells me to look up a website called “the thinking atheist” and tell him my thoughts. So I read through these points made on this site, then I take out my Bible and look up those passages being criticized, and it was just baffling. The website either willfully avoided deeper understanding of the events and expressed intent of the Bible, or the website simply LIED about what was in it. That’s when I really started to understand that those atheist “scholars” were just the worst types of publicly accepted scholars, who didn’t have to research what their trying to disagree with, and got lots of money for doing the bare minimum of philosophy. And on top of that, pretty much every theological question atheists have were already discussed and answered hundreds, even over a thousand years before the were born.

Intro: Logical Fallacies: Appeal to Authority, Ad Hominem. - Personal opinions about Hitchens' style and charisma don't really address the strength of his arguments. The Resurrection: Logical Fallacies: Appeal to Popularity, False Analogy. - Eyewitness accounts from ancient texts aren't necessarily reliable evidence for supernatural events. Religion: Logical Fallacies: Straw Man, Appeal to Tradition. - Misinterpreting or selectively quoting religious texts doesn't change the fact that religion has often been used to justify violence. Violence: Logical Fallacies: False Equivalence, Red Herring. - Comparing scientific endeavors with ideological doctrines is misleading; science is a method, not a belief system with moral imperatives. Slavery: Logical Fallacies: False Dichotomy, Appeal to Consequences. - Framing religious submission as true freedom ignores the secular view that values autonomy and critical thinking over following doctrines. The Church: Logical Fallacies: Cherry Picking, Appeal to Emotion. - Highlighting the Church's positive actions doesn't fully address the documented cases of complicity with Nazi authorities. General Critique of Michael's Points and His "Proof in the Pudding": Logical Fallacies: Ad Hominem, Appeal to Tradition. - Criticizing atheism based on a perceived shallow understanding overlooks the substantial philosophical and ethical arguments that atheists present.

The Waffen SS and its foreign legions being fighting soldiers were enlisted or volunteered to combat on the Eastern Front against the Bolshevists. In their recruiting efforts, the SS raise half a million foreign volunteers. Matching the half million ethnic Germans. About 38 divisions in total, where the majority were European. Given that Europe was much more religious back in the 40s having high numbers of Catholics wouldn't be surprising. 1. Hear Hitchens render an argument 2. Completely misunderstand the argument or focus in on some specific detail 3. Call the whole argument childish "When we talk about human action we're talking about political action. The decision to create a bomb, the decision to drop that bomb, the decision to talk to somebody about dropping the bomb that that would be a political action that involves society, but at a higher level what that involves is applied morality, so before you make that decision you have to know something about applied morality" - Michael Knowles This is literally Hitchen's point on why the bombs don't say anything about the truth or value of physics. They were moral decisions that bear on the truth and value of the moral frameworks that allowed the bombs to be used. But apparently that's "childish" according to Michael Knowles, despite literally agreeing with it. In the next argument, we learn that "do as I say or I'll torture you forever" is actually freedom and being able to take the actions we choose, right or wrong, without threat to ourselves is slavery, all over the ghostly impression of sad music as Michael Knowles pretends to sympathize with the addicts that he fantasizes about running over with his car and would screech about slavery if we tried to house.

Hitchens: Is there anyone you find eloquent enough to decide for you what you could read? Who would you give the job to decide for you? To relieve you from the responsibility of hearing what you might have to hear? Does anyone have a nominee? Hands up? There is an old story form a great Englishman Dr. Samuel Johnson, the author of the first great dictionary of English language. When it was complete he was waited upon by various delegations of people to congratulate him, and also by a delegation of respectable ladies of London. Dr Johnson, they said: “we are delighted to find that you’ve not included any indecent or obscene words in your dictionary.” The kind doctor responded: “Ladies I congratulate you on looking them up.” Anyone who can understand that joke gets the point about censorship, those who are determined to be offended, those who will precariously perch a ladder upon their toilet, just to be offended by what they see through the neighbors window? In my 30's Jesus saved me in a completely miraculous way (miraculous to me at least), and I remember at first I was scared to revisit the Hitch debates. I was still young in faith. Over time, I did go back and listen and I also read the Harris book (letter to a Christian nation). After spending my own time scripture and studying for a couple years, I was amazed to finally see how little they knew of true Christianity. It became crystal clear that we cannot understand scripture without being indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Professing to be wise, they had become fools.

I got away and found myself, at 3am, puking into a storm drain and wondering just how things could have gone so wrong? I was 20 years old, had flunked out of college twice, never had a relationship with a girl, never held down a real job. I realized, even in my drunken stupor, that while I didn't know exactly what I wanted, I didn't want this. Took a long time to go back to church. Took even longer to stop hating the fact that I was a Christian, and that being a Christian means you'll get evermore out of touch with society as time goes on. Christopher single-handedly exposed and exploded religious mythology once and for all time. People who do not have consistent belief structures tend to do that, they waver and flip flop, but they will defend their belief of the moment as though it were the only thing they have ever believed. That is a key sign of someone who is simply not credible. I on the other hand, have been extremely consistent on my thoughts and views since I was an early teen. I recognized that organized religion was a disease way back then, and over the years my confidence in that belief has only grown stronger and stronger. @@Restorationshopyt It's funny because most Atheists accuse Christians who are firm in their beliefs that they haven't truly examined their own beliefs if they are unwavering. They say we should always doubt if we're honest because you might be wrong. Maybe you've never examined your own beliefs because of your stubbornness.

Michael, I think you're one of the most important voices in the world right now but these clips are not of his strongest arguments. Its like your producer intentionally picked softballs for you to crush out of the park. His debate with William Lane Craig is just one example of many where he presents arguments that even the most seasoned apologists had trouble with. Please tackle the tough ones for the people being deceived by them. It's vital.

You really think this intellectual lightweight can tackle any tough questions? He even failed miserably in this video.

So if 500 people said they saw an alien ship, it's irrefutable, right?

@@markwitcombe2119 The proof is the 500 people saying it was an alien ship - that is the whole argument from Michael.

@@markwitcombe2119 It does not at all prove that they were not perpetuating something that they knew was not true. There are myriad reasons why they could have convinced themselves or lied about it. There are over 2 billion Muslims that have believed what they believe for around the same amount of time. If suddenly the amount of Muslims exceeds that of Christians, would that not mean you beliefs are now invalid? Taylor and I are arguing that numbers don't necessarily prove fact, so I can't provide evidence for that no.

Hitchens was so articulate that he beat Knowles in a debate without debating him and without being alive.

@@gabrielleon971 Craig lives in a world of pure conjecture where none of his ideas can be tested or falsified. This is an incredibly comfortable place to live. For the rest of us, whos ideas come in contact with the real world, we have to play by the rules and can't invent absurdities like entities that exit outside of time, space, and material, but can somehow maintain parochial abilities like answering prayers, disliking mixed fabrics, and being judgmental. To everyone whos mind hasn't been deep fried by childhood indoctrination, Craig is top shelf comedy and nothing more.

Hitchens is very much alive right now, and he's probably screaming at the top of his lungs to not listen to a word he said during his life on this planet.
