I had a strong reaction to this video, and I am very touched, very grateful of the immense respect you show for legitimate mental health and the impact it has on the sufferer, and their families. Thankyou for not being an "ally" but accurately defending the reality of mental health. Another incredibly disgusting thing is how fondly the two Greens referred to their out-of-work friendship with Golriz, so not only are they terribly neglectful (and perhaps, exploitative) bosses to work with, they are shitty friends. I think Golriz is drowning in financial debt, and has been for a very long time, and I think she is psychopathic to some degree to not only defend as a UN lawyer a genocidal criminal , but to then visit the homes and take photos with the victims of that genocide. Despite the fact all humans get to be represented in court, you do the job and do it properly so that some other criminals don't get away by pinning the blame on one figure head. I'm not a lawyer, yet I would explain this just like that if I was asked about my previous job as the Genocide Court Room Groupie. Surely, she would've had a better excuse having worked as a lawyer, but however if she is missing, one would hope she is found safe, and prosecuted thoroughly, and something is learnt by Parliament to add to their training of picking up on signs of mental health warnings. There are political editors, political coaches, why not perhaps train some political therapists? The public and popular rugby players in NZ have a specialist therapist on hand available for them. I think it would send a clear, strong message to NZ that mental health will be taken seriously, both judicially and medically.

She escaped authoritarianism in Iran to seek refuge in New Zealand, and defended a political and military organisation that used civilians as human shields. She should have been grateful for what Western democracy has afforded her, instead of using the freedom provided by the West to lobby for authoritarianism (that threatens to uproot the West). She has done injustice to other hard-working, peace-loving refugees. She should have apologised not only for shoplifting, but also for her inability to combat against extremist ideologies that advocate the extermination of an entire race (ie the Jews). I don't want her behaviour to harm other refugees.

I think she has been stealing all her life. Now that she is caught red handed, she needs to pay all the inevitable consequences, that the court system upholds. It's not a mental health issue, she got caught. It kind of seems like she had a thrill of doing it too, which is , it seems like it was actually organised to a extent. This is the way I put in my own words.... "Why buy something? when I can just steal it" I think the shame upmost, is she may have been parading around saying to her friends, "look at my flash handbag" which is stolen off the back of hardworking businesses. Thanks.

The Green Party would have been better off if they just said … We are extremely disappointed with Golriz she will no longer have any association with the Green Party. We hope she seeks the help she needs to address her criminal behaviour, this matter is now with the police. By bringing mental health into the equation it just made the whole party look even more pathetic than it already is.

I couldn't have put it better, Mike. The situation around the regulation has been appalling and inciteful. I doubt Golriz, the little thief, resigned voluntarily. It looks like a behind-the-door agreement between the party and Golrz to create the illusion that: 1) She's innocent and left by choice. 2) The Green Party is beyond questioning in its selection, members, and leadership. They portrayed it as a member taking a break, signaling virtue about supporting their members and valuing concerns. No mere allegation - she did steal, likely for a long time, maybe her entire life. A thief is a thief; the moral lesson against stealing is usually taught in childhood, but she clearly lacked that model. If accused, I'd use every tool to prove innocence first, then resign if I wished. I hope it opens eyes to the Greens' nature. I trust the genuine, hardworking Iranian community in NZ will take action against her and her associates.

The first red flag for me was reading an article/interview with Golriz a long time ago where she referred to herself as a 'woman of colour'. My associated common usage of that term is more with African Americans and part African Americans. To me it seemed like a stretch by Golriz to belong to a victim group. It seemed like a foreign concept being imported into NZ. It isn't a term commonly used in NZ. It means non European. It is absurd to refer to yourself as a non European as a description of your race/ethnicity. I don't refer to myself as non Chinese. It is manipulative racial politics suggesting victimhood. And it separates people on whether you are European or not. That is an agenda. One irony is that there are certain European people who can be darker than certain non European people. POC. Whoopdy doo. The Green Party are an unusual experiment in this era. Politicians brand and distinguish themselves from the opposition for votes, money and power. Race politics and other cultural identities have become reductionist irrational polarising labels where people can literally become a violent mob just by labelling someone racist or anti trans. We don't discuss reality in an informed rational scientific way. We have labels for tribal identities and irrational scapegoating and substance less virtue signalling. Oppressor vs oppressed and sound bite media. Not one politician who called Posie Parker vile and toxic explained their criticisms. We can't expect politicians to be impartial sources of scientific evidence based information. They have an agenda which counters this. There are no discussions in the media with non politicians, where people calmly offer informed perspectives and at times see validity in each others views. And the tradition of seeking understanding is the intention. Rather than this black and white polarising artificial dehumanised adversarial victim/scapegoat combative nonsense. We seem to have become conditioned to this new way of thinking and behaving which is very base level.

we used to have a mentally ill person who had genuine certifiable kleptomania(a compulsion to steal) come into our store. She used to work at a local accounting office, where her boss would routinely go to her house once a month and get all their staplers back. You just followed her round the shop, and charged to her account all the stuff she stole, which she then paid for. she used to wait by the front door until one of us would come get her. She used to give a card each christmas to thank us all for our help and understanding. It was humiliating for her, but gave us a chance to be human and understanding and non-judgemental, everyday heroes. She led a very quiet, very private life because of her condition. This was nothing like the behaviour of this MP, her face a demeanor changed in front of you when she stole, like something posessed her for a moment . The video footage of Golriz just shows normal old shoplifting in action.

Well said Michael. I regularly disagree with you, has been the case for many years, however the times we are aligned it has been emphatic. This is one of these times. I'm curious to see the mystery of the friend looked into, also the mystery of the person who returned items to Scotties and also the mystery of individual who was in contact with Scotties trying to get 'an understanding' of the situation. What was the exact nature of that interaction? Did it involve negotiation or requests? And what do the police make of that interaction. Michael, feel free to keep the questions coming.

Agreed I cant imagine the garbage on social media, its bad enough here, as for Golriz she was just using shopping therapy to get over social pressures she just forgot the paying part of it.
