Great interview with one of the most relevant political figures. Thanks Behzod aka for such a well-prepared masterpiece. First of all, I partly disagree with professor McFaul about the evolution of Putin's ideology. In my opinion, it has not been changed over the time significantly, because Putin's regret about collapse of Soviet Union is still the same, and he always ambitious about rebuilding it. Professor is right about his unpredictability in political chessboard, but I think Putin's main objective is still the same. Second, predictions about uniting the Slavic word under the authocratic country is very good point. I think most of the countries, including Central Asia, European Union as well as the US would be worse off under this reality. Obviously, putting millions of lives under the risk of loss of opportunities and freedom has serious consequences for the rest of the world too. Last but not least, I liked professor's optimism about the future of democracy, and the arguments about the credibility of democratic states, wars in back in times and the regimes the US came across during war, and alternative thinking about protests demanding the authocratic regimes. In my opinion, democracy will still be the most popular regime across the world, but I expect it to be slightly more fluctuating regime, still tends to move upwards. About zero-sum games with such examples, I would love listening more and more. Once again, thanks Behzod aka for bringing the such a bright thinker to the uzbek audience. And I wish professor McFaul an amazing trip to Uzbekistan in the spring :)

Fantastic interview with one of the most brilliant political science professor, who also speaks decent Russian, and is my most favored foreign policy thinker. I'm very glad, that you didn't edit out, the part where he talks about somewhat contemporary Uzbekistan, as it is relevant, it would also be best to attach the article, I think, it's very short but informative. I think, it would be also intriguing, in the next meeting, to learn about his interactions, when he became the state official, and the head of the NSC, and had negotiated transit rights for Obama's surge, the so-called Northern Distribution Network, as well as his positive role in mitigating the Osh crisis in 2010, after the eruption of ethnic violence and contentions. Thank you very much for organizing it, and putting this all together.

In my opinion party politics is the worst form of democracy. What about a Committee that works out different proposed solutions and we votes on them. Only relevant or trend-setting topics similar to the previous election programs of the parties come to the vote. The people can of course also propose solutions. The committee decides independently on day-to-day business. These decisions can be revised by referendum.
