Just found out last night that a 1/2 mile away from the house I sold last spring, a vape warehouse exploded, taking out the grocery store it shared a footprint with. Goo, as the retailer was known, sold bulk vapelord and vanilla smoke/ headshop paraphernalia wholesale. At least was my impression when I wandered in once to what had previously been a dollar store knockoff. Supposedly, they had some big tanks of industrial compressed flammable gasses in the back room that went off, triggering a multiple hours inferno blast fest of lithium ion vape pen and canister explosions, with debris dwindling up to 2 miles away. One 19 year old young man lost his life after being struck in the head a quarter mile away in front of the car wash, reports indicate. Windows shook in the frames a mile and a half away, another report indicates. Glass shards apparently were part of the shrapnel fallout, as well as unexploded vape pens that may yet to burst. The building, now totally leveled, was down by the railroad tracks, behind the Walgreens and Burger King, across the street from the Wendy's, at the closest major intersection to my subdivision. Happened about a week ago. Crazy. Apparently it was like a fireworks warehouse going up. I got a weird vibe the one time I went in there, though I went into the sav a lot every once in a while for beer. Shifty swarth emporium, you don't sell handroll tobacc? Thanks, buh bye. Apparently the fire burned for days and they eventually stopped spraying water onto it unless it flared up. Allegedly, between 2022, when last passing inspection, and the present, they began some sort of industrial operation comprising hydrogen tanks and the like sort of canisters of pressurized flammables in the back storage room. I don't even know what to say anymore. The investigation begins this week. I beat the competence crisis this round. So glad I'm not picking vape shards out of my back yard. Thoughts and prayers for the car wash kid who was canistered in the cranium. Decay can be a flight path.

Whoa! Good thing you were out of there by then. Sorry to hear about the young man. Presumably this happened at night as (I guess) there were no other deaths. Must have been quite a scene -- good description of it, btw. Anyway... Decay indeed.
