I agree with the perspective that in the book of the NFL. The story of the NFL. Eli's Superbowl wins are huge. Not just from the tyreed and manningham catches which were tremendous, but Tom Brady with 6 rings had a 10 year droubt and it was because Eli Manning snatched two rings right off his hands.

I guess the defense holding Brady 23 and 15 points below their season average, even having their lowest point totals of the year, had nothing to do with that? And Eli still barely won on lucky last second plays. Remind me again why Eli has 2 SB MVPs for basically 1.5 TDs and 275 yards per game against a team that averaged 37 and 32 points per game.

Dante Hardy no it took the greatest second half performance by Brady in order to win Super Bowl 51. Not the edelman catch. Eli Manning escaped 3 sacks on 3rd and 5 and threw a blind 30 yard pass that was the luckiest catch in NFL history. If Eli gets sacked, its a different story, if Rodney Harrison bats that ball down, its a different story. Eli didnt play good enough to beat Tom Brady. he got lucky

Eli at the time of his retirement was top ten in passing yards and touchdowns over 57K and over 300 touchdowns. 3rd all time in games played. The hall of fame is not about the very best, is about longevity and accumulation of numbers. Which Eli has. The two Super Bowls MVP’s place him over the top in beating the super team twice. Of course. If you could look into a crystal ball and see that someone is going to 2 SBs, of course you would take him. But, if you were to look into that same ball and see a QB with a 109-113 regular season and averaging 18th in the passer rating each year, would you take him? Nope. Hard to believe that's the same guy. And that makes him not worthy of the HoF.
@Nandoswitharando

@@tomknapp6194 honestly tho, who cares about the regular season one you get to the playoffs? And especially when you win two bowls, beating the guy everyone considers the GOAT, and there are guys already in the HOF that are LESS deserving than Eli.
@tomknapp6194
@tomknapp6194 2 жыл бұрын
@@Nandoswitharando Was Eli the reason the Giants won both SBs? In 2007 and 2011, the Patriots were averaging 38 points per game. Eli scores 17 and 21 points for two wins and he's the hero? Please explain this? It sounds much more like the defense pulled off a miracle and Eli was given the MVP by default. And Eli wasn't that great in the playoffs. He never beat a single team that scored more than 20 points and was bounced hard in the first round of the times he did make it to the playoffs. Remember 2015 against the Packers? Rodgers wasn't having one of his worst games of the year like he did in 2011. The real Rodgers showed up and it was a blowout. Eli literally needed multiple all star quality QBs to have one of their worst games of the year and then still needed multiple extremely lucky plays to pull out narrow wins. And those are the facts.
@Nandoswitharando
@Nandoswitharando 2 жыл бұрын
@@tomknapp6194 Well since we’re bringing up defense, do you count Brady having a top ten defense for the VAST MAJORITY of his career against his Super Bowl wins? How about the fact that Eli threw for over 300yds and 3 td’s against the 2011 packers, but yet somehow it’s because Rodgers had a bad game, not because Eli played well. And the week before against the falcons he had 3 td’s no picks, then 300 yds 2 td’s against the number one ranked defense (49ers) at the time, just a week after roasting the packers. I just want you to look up defensive ratings for each year Brady made it to the playoffs, come back and tell me what you find. Maybe we can have a conversation about who wins the game, defense or offense, considering between Eli and Brady only ONE of them had an all time legendary defensive coach at the helm.

The answer is he had zero.. He was not Aikman getting to hand off to Smith or throw to Irvin. He had guys like Bradshaw, Brandon Jacobs in the backfield, and Toomer, Manningham, Tyree. Besides how can a defense carry a QB when the defense allows the go ahead score and the QB has to come back and score a TD to win. Which Eli did. Whats more they were on par to repeat if Plex didn't shhot himself in the foot that year. They were going pretty good and that was a good team.
