Michael Rosen On the Castlevania Franchise

Ahh what the heck? Might as well do another one of these and for another one of my all-time favorite game franchises, as well as one that fits the current season.

Harmony of Dissonance is by far my favourite, it introduced me to Castlevannia, and i loved it. Finding all secrets alone, music is funny, bosses well... those are easy, and the combat was great, front dash and back dash, double jump, and the ability to use old secondary weapons and combine it with magic.... wonderful experience

Damn straight for Harmony of Despair. Amazingly fun game that does not get enough attention. I was top 200 as Getsu Fuma on the ps3 version. Bought all the maps, Characters, and songs and beat every map on hard. 6 players, bosses that traverse the whole map, and every character adding something new that they could do. ( Simon was short enough to avoid attacks others had to duck for. ) As for Harmony of Dissonance... You wound me sir... Yeah, the music isn't great. And you only use the whip for a main weapon. But it's still a pretty solid game overall, and it a few cool ideas. Who can forget that final boss for example? Creepy as hell. Hope we get a ds collection or 3D ( N64 and PS2 ) collection. I was so happy for the advance collection. ( Any chance for a Every game in the Megaman franchise" video? With MMBN Collection coming out, it could be topical. ) ( Also, have you thought about making videos that have your opinions in a indepth analysis? I'd watch it. )

I must admit I do have a soft-spot for Harmony of Dissonance, I like it’s ideas and it has one of my favorite main themes in Successor of Fate. Overall though it does come across as rather unremarkable compared to other Metroidvania Castlevanias. I have thought of doing do, I might experiment with the idea when I have more time.

In all seriousness, it is a fun fighting game and has some good ideas. Things just could have worked better in execution.
