Emotionally speaking, Jason is smart as hell. And the only reason he's not book smart is because he was raised in an underfunded education system with bad role models who taught him to see crime as a valid option to get out of his situation, and no guide for impulse control -- he's not intellectually smart about the ethical and legal decisions he makes and turns to crime because of *poverty.* Jason demonstrates the fact we should all know, that crime is a symptom of poverty, and that a system of right and wrong (and punishing the latter) that relies on your parents income and your access to educational opportunities as factors is one set up to put a moral equivalence on wealth -- to equate one's wealth as a sign of being a good person, in and of itself -- which is what made the US so imbalanced as a country to begin with.

I'm also fairly certain that will never actually see what's in the good place, or the bad place. I assume we'll never see the good place, because what we would see as reward, is subjective. Remember, the people who make this show, are humans, like us. What could they possibly show us as Heaven, that would satisfy each and every viewer, that they would be able to imagine spending full on eternity there, without ever getting bored? (Of course, this is even if: 'The Good Place,' exists, at all... ;) However, the bad place will most likely not be shown, not because torture is subjective, as I'm pretty sure that having your stomach cut open with saw blades, with your mouth full of fleas, being boiled in a tub full of scorpions, we can all agree would be torture. But, would you really want to see that? I think the show is constantly been trying to tell us, but it's not going to show us the bad place, not just because they don't have it in the budget to show that kind of stuff, but also because our minds wouldn't be able to take it. I know, us humans go through a lot of crap now, especially in these times, and chances are if they do show Michaels true form, we will be able to handle it, but that's because that this show is run by humans, and they will be able to handle what they themselves draw out. It's like: 'Bird-Box.' We don't know if the monsters are super ugly, or hypnotized us, or show us our greatest fear, or our greatest regret; All that we know, is that if you see one, you're dead. But, what could the creators have possibly shown the viewer, that would have satisfied that? :)

Sometimes when I rewatch the show, I find myself imagining a fire squid doing whatever Michael’s doing. It feels weird doing that. Like, it’s hard to imagine this ginormous fire squid being genuine about wanting to save humanity. Even minor stuff like Michael getting giddy about a place that was once a Pizza Hut AND a Taco Bell didn’t sit right. And I know it’s wrong to think like that, because no matter what he looks like, Michael would still be Michael. But I just couldn’t shake off that feeling. This is a fascinating little moment to me that does a lot of work foreshadowing michael's ending. He TRULY never wanted to be a demon. He was evil, don't get me wrong, due to the environment he was created in, but his heart was never in it. His method of torturing humans was not only the most lenient, but also the most... human. He has always longed to connect with them, and unlike other demons who use the skinsuits as interchangeable disguises, he values his human identity more than his demon identity. He's basically trans.

I really hope episodes 2 and 3 are going to be the only episodes without real twists. I remember, near the end of Season 3 Episode 13, I thought to myself: 'Oh, Shoot; Are we going to have an entire Season of this bull-crap?' Once I heard Season 4 will be the final season, I reassured myself at that couldn't possibly be the case, as there must be more to the story coming up. Episode 1 I was entertained by enough, I'm mainly because I was just excited to see the show back, and there was that twist that one of the new subjects was a demon. But then episodes two and three came by, and we're just pretty much exactly what Season 3 Episode 13 made us believe this Season would be about. I don't mean to sound unreasonable, but seeing as this show relied mainly on twists and Cliffhangers, intended to drop the ball right before we get bored with a certain subject, I started to get impatient, which is why I assume this is the final Season. Because they know that they can't keep satisfying this format, being quite literally changing the format every few episodes, forever. Episode 4 has restored my faith, and I'm sure that Episode 2 was just to introduce us to Brent, and Episode 3 was just to introduce us to John. Now that that is done, I'm sure we can start actually doing stuff, with them. (I Hope!)

We need more Chidi honestly, I have been disappointed with the lack of Chidi in these episodes

I actually thought that there’s something wrong with Janet
@12345starbucks5 жыл бұрын
Exactly! In Episode 3 the real Janet would never suggest punching Brent, despite how annoying he is. If you watch that scene again, Janet seems pissed when Tahani doesn't take her suggestion.

One of the few things I'm disappointed in this show is we never got to see a glimpse of Michael's fire squid form. For a show that uses CGI often to get super weird, I'm surprised they didn't at least do it once to show us the fire squid.

There should've been a fight between demons, like Michael in his squid form and Shawn in his demon form..... Michael should've won and the fight should've ended with a hug. That would be both cool and heartwarming

You guys really liked my last on so here’s another theory for the good place: Micheal is lying he’s really Vicky. Let’s take a look at Bad Janet. We know she was telling the truth about taking real Janet and pretending to be her but she could be lying about Glenn being a traitor. I don’t think she was. When she saw Glenn come in she panicked. She never helped them and the only way she knew how to was to kill him. We also saw how happy Michael(Vicky) was when Glenn was gone because he was the only one who knew about their plan. We heard Bad Janet talk about how Glenn was a traitor and she seemed very annoyed about it so we know bad Janet was telling the truth. This is how we know Michael(Vicky) is lying: When Eleanor told him to take off his suit he had to quickly think of a sad explanation to why he can’t and as she was still suspicious of him bad Janet saved him by showing them the device not only was it to kill Glenn but it was to show them what would happen to Michael if he sacrificed himself which he was never going to anyway. He knew Eleanor would never let him do it and maybe it was part of the plan for Jason to figure out Janet was lying because that stopped Michael from blowing himself up and it made Eleanor think it was really Michael then he took Jason he took Jason to the bad place to “save Janet” but really they went to do a Jason switcheroo and they will come back with fake Jason and another fake Janet. Then they will slowly replace everyone in the group and try to ruin the experiment but when they try to go for Eleanor she figures out the whole thing and saves everyone. Hope you like my theory and let me know if you think Micheal is Vicky or not.

jason fajerman I like your ideas and observations, but I think it’s the real Michael. If it isn’t, it undermines a lot of emotional scenes (particularly between him and Eleanor) that we’ve gotten so far this season. And now we’re on to another arc for the season, which will be rescuing Janet from the Bad Place. Maybe Michael and Fake!Michael will run into each other, and Jason will have to figure out which one he should listen to and trust. That would make for some interesting drama.
@jasonfajerman81065 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s true but we know Vicky is a really good actor/lier so that might explain the emotional moments. But I would love to see that scene with Jason and the 2 Michaels
@rachelanderson78415 жыл бұрын
I don't think there's more than one fake. The writers have said time and time again that they're always trying to outsmart a very smart audience, and too many people bought into the idea that Michael was swapped on the train. If they do more than one swap, even if we see it happen this time, it will feel a bit redundant, and these writers have constantly reinvented the wheel. Even in the reboots, it never felt redundant. I also agree with what Sixth Jayhawk said--it would really undermine the lovely emotional scenes we've seen between Eleanor and Michael thus far this season. I totally see the validity in your theory, but I don't think it's where the writers are taking us. Regardless, I'm excited to see what happens next week!

Vicky isn’t a good actor she’s really pretentious and gets annoyed if she’s in a role she doesn’t like
@rachelanderson78415 жыл бұрын
@@Nerdnotwashere I can understand how that would be possible. Up until last night, I was definitely leaning toward the "Michael has been swapped by Vicky" theory. (I was never completely on board, but that theory rattled around in my head for three weeks) But after this episode, I just don't think that's where they're headed.
