I'm so glad Michael Shannon seems to be everywhere nowadays. It's still nowhere near enough of him. The man is just such a treasure.

I hadn't noticed him all that much until I saw him just go ham in Premium Rush. Dude gives his all as bug-eyed angry characters. I get he can be nuanced, but I love him just shouting it out!

I'm cautiously optimistic about this Fahrenheit 451 adaptation. I love the book and have been hoping for a good modern interpretation for years. I think the democratization of information via the internet wasn't something Bradbury could have predicted at the time the book was written but other elements of the message about controlling the flow of information to influence the public continue to resonante. I'm interested to see what they do with it.

Wow he is a pretty cool guy off camera. I've only seen him play villains on Boardwalk and Shape of Water. Fahrenheit 451 is another scary dystopian story. It's not as sci-fi today as it was when I read it. We are drifting towards a future similar to this. Some people who watch trashy reality TV won't even understand some of the scenes in the story.
@C345OFR6 жыл бұрын
Let's face it, people who watch trashy reality TV are not going to be _watching_ - never mind understanding - this.
@dejayrezme86176 жыл бұрын
To be honest I don't even understand it. I mean social media and youtube trash probably largely superseded reality TV. Maybe I'm getting old lol but so much is changing we have no time to even really reflect on the radical changes.

Dakota Skye I think the book is very close to what we’ve got going on today. I’ll be interested to see how he nuances it!
@A.Fort.6 жыл бұрын
The book is very good. Reading it in the present is a bit odd because some bits are kind of anachronistic, while some of the elements that were straight sci-fi when it was written are commonplace everyday things now (It totally called big screens and AirPods, for example, while failing to predict the Swiffer). The main themes of controlling a populace via controlling the information and media they consume while an endless war goes on almost unremarked in the background is certainly relevent today although its focus on physical ink-and-paper books does come across as a bit quaint in the modern age. It's one of my favorites and well worth a read and I, too, hope this film does it justice.

This movie was a terrible adaptation of the book. I dare say that the 1966 movie hit a bit closer to the target. Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon did the best they could with a terrible script. Couldn't the producers just adapt the book into a movie without throwing in all of the tech trends and tacked-on ending? It barely resembled the book -- it's like HBO read the book jacket and made their own movie from it. Michael Shannon's character was terribly written -- was he good, bad, conflicted? His performance was all over the place.
