This guy carried us through the tough times. He is a blessed soul, and the same for his REM brothers.

Bowie wrote this song for Mott the Hoople. Michael is performing every word from the Mott the Hoople version including the end speaking part, telling the guy in the glasses to come up front, and that he’s been wanting to do this for years.

It's weird hearing an American sing about Marks and Sparks, haha. Could only just bring myself to start watching some of the stuff from the tribute concerts, and found this while I was looking for it. Love Michael Stipe.

Yeah, classic. It seems Michael did the Mott the Hoople version, not Bowie’s version. Because he included the part where he tells the guy in the glasses to come up on stage.

Stipes is incredibly intelligent. But Glam Rock doesn't fit him well as Mott the Hoople, Bowie (RIP), NY Dolls, etc. But WTF, It's his gig and seemed like everyone was having a good time. Not sure if the Cocker spasmatic gestures were intentional, but Cocker doing this song seems like an awkward

Ok. How about this? This man still has a voice, charisma, personality, style, power, coolness, empathy, style and coolness (Again). What do you have? Everybody gets older, they change, they adapt. What they don't do is go on KZbin and try to make a flippant comment. Because that's the only way they can get their voice heard.

+Paul Wheelan It's easier to knock things down than it is to build things from the ground up. Anyone can criticize; not all can create. zoznack, based on his homepage, appears to be a musician, or at least very interested in music (the latter being the case with me) so it's a little surprising that he would be critical of a man as gifted as Michael Stipe, the singer and primary lyricist for one of the greatest bands of the rock era, R.E.M. It tells me that zoznack is probably not the most secure man on the planet, which is somewhat understandable, assuming his profession is the music business, a tough business to make a good living in. And yes, it's a bit disappointing to see that Michael has gained as much weight as he has, but the decision to end R.E.M. had to have been an extremely difficult one, and the sadness and probable depression it likely triggered in him led him to try to fill that hole and counter those feelings with more than his fair share of comfort food. I myself was depressed for three months upon hearing that they decided to call it quits. It was literally like losing a very dear, very close friend, and if it was hard on me, I can barely imagine how excruciatingly difficult it was for Michael, someone who is and always has been a very sensitive soul. zoznack may think he's making an example of Michael and putting him in a bad light, but really he's only succeeded in making himself look bad.

Micheal Stipe doing his impression of a cross between Joe Cocker and David Bowie. Never liked his tone, range and condescending attitude. A mediocre musician that got lucky.
@oldwight
@oldwight 8 жыл бұрын
+Dog Wood nothing wrong with having a condescending attitude in a world full of arseholes and people listening only to Rihanna, Bieber and Britney Spears. Though Stipe is not condescending. I just think he should have thanked Trump for giving an REM song such great exposure a few months ago.
