One thing to note, he got convicted for dogfighting (obviously very terrible) but he had been around dogfighting his entire life since he was a small child and to him it was normal. That being said, he did a terrible thing and paid the price (1 1/2 years in federal prison) When he came out, he was extremely remorseful, a great teammate and did more for animal rights charities and causes than nearly anyone. Since he left prison he's never been in any amount of trouble and by all accounts been a model citizen

As awesome as he was to watch on the field he will forever be the guy that fought dogs and killed the ones that didn’t win. He may have served his time in prison but that’s a tough one for people to get over

@@reachmeorteachme NFL gave a dude a 2 game suspension for knocking out his gf in an elevator then dragging her out into the hotel lobby on camera... Every pitched a fit now beating the crap out of your gf/wife is worth a massive..... 6 games. Got a couple guys indefinitely suspended for smoking pot right now which makes it even more insulting. And that is just the tip of the iceberg that is all NFL fans only united love. Hate of the NFL commissioner Rodger goodell. Watching the whole crowd boo him at the draft every year is the best part of the event 😂

What people need to focus on is how often does someone do something that horrible (and that wasn’t his only issue in atlanta) then goes to prison, serves the time then we never hear another negative thing about him for going on 15 years. The man seems to have changed and that’s one of the hardest things in the world to do.

Had an interesting career and I'm not talking him going to prison. He gets most of his hype from being the first of the new breed running qbs. Was very good at it but not other worldly by today's standards. He wasn't a very good passer when he came out of college but the running did a good job making up for it. Then he went to jail and when he came back with the eagles it was rather amazing how much he had progressed as a passer while... In lock up 😂. His passing yards per game jumped like 40 percent, his rushing tapered off a bit but now it was his arm making up for his legs. Kinda the arc would hope to see a guy go through where skill eventually is making up for loss of physical ability but with him it's got this weird blank spot in the middle where that happened in the last place you would expect. Let the longest yard jokes commence.

@@reachmeorteachme to be honest if you didn't watch videos about NFL players who had an arrest record you would be watching some boring stuff 😏 Vick was obviously at the more serious end of that wide spectrum but ya does make for a rather interesting o wait what moment 😂

Rick got in trouble for running a dog fighting ring, having Pitbulls fight each other, and actually putting some down😢

Yeah some others have mentioned that. It's crazy. And I had no idea about any of that. I guess that's good, in that it let's me appreciate his talent without any potential bias.

As dynamic and exciting as a running QB can be, one needs to keep in mind the wear and tear on the body that comes from this play style. Running backs tend to have some of the shortest careers in the NFL. This is all due to wear and tear from regular collisions with the defense. If Vick hadn't gone to prison, he might have had a more impressive career, or it might have been cut short due to some career ending injury. Like Tony Dungy (great coach) said about Vick, "if he would have had the mindset he had with the Eagles when he was playing for the Falcons, his career could have been one of the best ever" (paraphrasing). What caused Vick's mental focus change? Prison. Without that dramatic reset in his life, would he have started to actually look for the open targets more, or would he have continued to run as much or more as he was with the Falcons. If you pay attention to the video, with the Falcons, Vick was frequently immediately running (not giving time to assess if any open receivers were to be had), while with the Eagles he was more often running after assessing the options and not seeing any. I'm not bashing Michael Vick. He was exciting to watch. It's simply that too often, QBs that run too often tend to have shorter careers due to injury and wear-n-tear on the body. Staying in the pocket and then being able to scramble out of danger when things go sideways is a good skill to have. It's why I like Patrick Mahomes. He scrambles when necessary, but he's trying to find that open receiver before trying to find a lane to run down. Being able to throw like he does when scrambling is fun to watch. When running is necessary, he seems to frequently be just fast enough for what is needed. As to people saying you pause too much: you do you. Pause, comment or ask questions, and rewind to your heart's desire. Personally, I watch reaction channels to get their reactions, comments, questions, etc... If I wanted to watch something without pausing, I'd watch the original video. Talking over the video, as I've seen some reactors do, ruins the experience imho. I also don't want to watch a "reactor" who just sits and nods along to whatever the video is showing. I can do that on my own.

I feel the same re the reactions. If they want to watch the video without interruption, go watch the original video. Why watch a reaction, and not want to see the reaction?? Also great point about the toll to the body. Hadn't even crossed my mind.
