Not necessarily as wonderful of an athlete that Vick was, he was plagued by the injury bug. Rarely could he stay healthy and even if he was playing toward the latter part of the season the play was eroding due to fatigue and injury. His best shot to win it all was in 2010 but his place kicker missed kicks all day vs the packers. That packer team eventually went on to win the Super Bowl. Having said that it usually takes several playoff runs to win 1 ring. Think about it Brady who has 5 rings has made like 17 playoff runs.

Man to man defense is when a defender is assigned to every receiver, tight end or running back and it's their job to follow them wherever they go. As opposed to zone defense, where each defender just has an area of the field to cover. It's easier for mobile QBs like Vick to run against man to man because most of the defenders have their backs turned or are too far away from him because they have to focus on everyone he might throw to

Hi @Allure Vision. Yeah, Mike Vick was convicted for dog fighting while he played for the Falcons. At that time, he was the biggest name in the league. I think he had a $120M contract when he got in trouble. He lost everything. Vick served his time, but A LOT of people didn't want Vick to play again. However, a few respected people in the NFL were able to help him get back in the League and he did well and made a lot of money. He showed that he was sorry for what he did and performed many charitable works. I still have respect for him because he turned his life around for the better.

My #1 NFL player ever. They hated on him and convicted this Brother on a federal charge for fighting dogs🤦🏿 he was the face of the NFL and some people just couldn't stand that. As a quarterback he was too much of a threat for defenses. You have to realize this was at the same time Tom Brady, Payton Manning and several other beloved white quarterbacks were in the league and Mike Vick was the face of the NFL🤔 as you pointed out, "to be classified as the Michael Jordan of the NFL speaks volumes itself " They allowed our Brother to be railroaded over fighting dogs. You are correct, man to man coverage is when the defense lines up and personally covers every eligible receiver fron the offense. Whatever the offensive player does, the defender follows in an attempt to keep the their man from getting the ball.

Hey, there are 2 types of coverages in football: man to man and zone. Man to man is exactly that, the defender would be assigned a player usually a wide receiver and his job is to keep up with him and play him "man to man". The other is zone, the defender would be assigned a "zone" which is just a place on the field and he is to defend what is in that zone.

When he played at Philadelphia, he studied and learned more about the quarterback position, which made him better. That is what Tony Dungy was talking about in the video. Too bad you didn't see him in the day. He was MUST SEE tv. Loved watching him and the Falcons play back then. All the moves, hard to catch, fast and an arm like a cannon ! Man to man is when the secondary will line up across from their assignment and run with just that player throughout the play. That will leave one defensive player, usually a linebacker to spy on the quarterback. That means the linebacker will move side to side , mirroring the quarterback and attempting to keep the quarterback from breaking out and running. Having that assignment on MV was not anything that any player wanted.

I don't think we'll ever see a QB like Vick. His speed running down the field and with the flick of his wrist that tight spiral is 60 yds down the field. No matter what QB you will ever watch keep this guy as the standard when it comes to physical ability. You won't find anyone better. Vick broke his ankle in a preseason game in his third year which definitely slowed him down. Wasn't quite the same after that. In my opinion, one of the greatest examples of wasted potential and talent that the world was robbed of. Unfortunately, he ran into a bad crowd that got him into dog fighting which led to his conviction. The years that he spent in prison were wasted on what could have added to one of the greatest football careers in the history of the sport. Love him or hate him, you can't deny the fact that Michael Vick was a borderline superhero on the field. The NFL record for career rushing yards that he holds, is something that I don't think anyone will ever be able to break.

Generally speaking, there are 2 ways a defense counters passing plays. Man to man coverage or zone coverage. Zone: defenders are designated to cover specific areas of the field. Man to man: defenders are designated to cover specific players. This is the 10 second answer on what ‘man to man’ means. Hope this helps. ;)
