With respect, Eric, I am glad that you did not interrupt Walter Hooper as much as you did Michael Ward.

Boy, when you're right you're right. And all his interruptions of this worthy guest were all too American...

I don't know if I love these interviews or find them depressing because I get to never have conversations like these.

Wow... long story.... but Mr. Eric Metaxes, I think you just saved my faith with that statement at 1:17:50 "I am more of a Mere Christian than an evangelical." I think you really did.... Thank you!

Fascinating. I really like this theory on reading Narnia. Very well thought out. Also kudos to Ward for managing to get a word in edgewise with this host. Let the guest speak would ya?

As an American listening to Metaxas' introduction, I expecting the audience to break out in enthusiastic applause every fifteen seconds, and indeed Metaxas' intonation puts in those little spaces to allow it, but I guess that the Oxfordians are not buying into that. Such restraint. I wish that my countrymen would learn a bit of it.

I find two things very interesting about CS Lewis in relation to this presentation. The first is CS Lewis would sometimes joke about being born under Jupiter and, on some level, attributed his own qualities to the planet. Also, his first Narnia book was the "Jupiter book." What's interesting about it is that, in looking at CS Lewis natal astrological chart, he was born with five planets in the sign of Sagittarius. Sagittarius, in astrology is ruled by the planet Jupiter. A grouping of three or more planets is referred to as a "stellium", a powerful placement. A five planet stellium is not rare, but still uncommon. This leads me to the second point. Sagittarius in the zodiac is depicted as a centaur. In Narnia centaurs, more than any other race, are associated with star gazing. We know that Lewis himself was a novice astronomer. Fascinating.

Patrick John He urged people to let there minds go back to the pre-capurnican era when people didnt believe we float in a infinite void. He was really on to something deep. I think Lewis maybe understood the true nature of reality.

Patrick John Lewis also had his sun conjunct uranus which I believe has to do with his brilliance and also with his fascination with astrology. And strengthened by the stellium he was a genius

Just learning to quote Tolkien's "outside his range of imaginative sympathy." made this a worthwhile listen. :) . . . and the Metaxian atmosphere of the interview is subtly seductive.

This is really interesting, it certainly adds an extra dimension to the Narnia books, although i doubt it would have changed Tolkien's opinions of them. I'll have to read them again thinking about their planetary nature.

They want upwards of 100.00 for a volume of CS Lewis poetry, used, on Abe Books. And, you cannot find, on the internet, a copy of the poem "The Planets."
