You should watch the original 1996 Anime of Rurouni Kenshin too, atleast to the episode where Kenshin leaves, so that you won't be spoiled to the season 2 of the 2023 anime.

15:26 Okubo Toshimichi is a real life politician who was indeed assassinated by disgruntled former samurai. Of course here, his actual assassination was done covertly by one of Shishio's assassins and the real life culprits simply took credit for it. By the way, if you want to know who's voicing the assassin, its Deku from MHA. As for Shishio at the end, the one who voiced him is the One Punch Man himself. And you are in for a treat when the next season starts. The Kyoto Arc is Rurouni Kenshin's signature arc and Shishio Makoto is the series' most iconic villain. These last few episodes are traditionally the opening act of the Kyoto Arc but this anime decided to turn it into the season finale.

To explain : Real Okubo was murdered that day; in real history, by discontent ex samurai. To make it fit with History, the author made someone murder Okubo for plot reason then the guys find him already dead and take credit.

Have to admit they did a pretty good job with this series so far, and yeah Shishio is literally built different. That sound during the discussion was how they believed that they killed him, shot and then doused with oil and fire for good measure. Also at this point we are about a quarter of the way through the original manga. Still the next part is going to be fire as it cemented this series as one of the best. Can’t wait for word about the next season. As for the 96 anime, episode 31 is the stopping point with what coencides to the entire first season. Have to admit the goodbye there is particularly heartbreaking. Now for the watch order. Episodes 1-5 coencide with the foundation of the Kenshingumi and Yahiko and Sanosuke Episodes 6-7 The Kurogasa arc Episodes 8-11 The Oniwabanshu arc Episode 12 Yahiko’s battle Episodes 13-14, 17-18 are one off filler episodes. Quite good if you ask me, but feel free to skip. Episode 15-16 in the gap is a small filler arc known as the Jinpu Squad arc. It ties back to Kenshin’s past somewhat as there is a Hitokiri who Kenshin fought during the revolution that has changed to a more peaceful way like he did. Can skip at your own digression yet fairly interesting. Episodes 19-21 Raijuta arc, expect a major change yet one I think you’ll enjoy. Episode 22 A one off filler. Has some hood Kenshin action yet feel free to skip. Episode 23-24 Katsu arc Episodes 25-27 Shura arc, a filler arc but actually a pretty good one if you ask me. Feel free to skip if you wish. Episodes 28-31 The beginning of the Kyōto arc and were season one of the 23 anime ends. Hope this helps you if you decide to watch the 96 anime…or anyone else that reads this.

Btw, the whole thing with Kenshin's speech is difficult to translate to English. But basically, the "rurouni" Kenshin uses very archaic and polite language. He says "Sessha" to refer to himself, which is considered extremely humble and chivalrous. And he says "de gozaru" instead of something like "desu" or "da", which is again incredibly overly polite, and the subtitles often translate that as him repeating his sentence like "I will do that, that I will". When Kenshin goes Battousai mode however, his language becomes more rough and masculine and he uses the first person pronoun "ore" instead, and he drops the "de gozaru".

I'm obsessed with the original 90s series for the past 25 years and Shishio is my absolute favorite character. Just look at my name lol. That being said Soujiro had some of the best storyline and fight scenes and I watch them over and over quite often. That's why it's not lightly I say that the few seconds I saw the animation style visual and sound effect of Soujiro running up to Okubos carriage is already better than the original. This new series is severely lacking good audio effects and themes but that Soujiro scene was insane! Glad your enjoying it... You have alot to look forward to!

Your reaction to Saito was basically mine. I knew instantly it was Saito with the 'safer than Shanghai' & said out loud "Yeah, Hell. Because that's where you'll about to end up." Half a second later, Saito: "A place called Hell." Me grinning so hard. And the 'You can own a dog with food. You can own people with money. But nobody can own the Wolves of Mibu." literally gave thrilled spine chill. He's so badass. It just reaffirmed for me 1000% how much he's my favorite character of this series. As for Kenshin & the others? Both sides care about & want to protect the other, but they each are being disrespectful. It's not their decision to make for Kenshin if he goes to Kyoto or not. They don't get to 'let him or not let him'. And Kaoru's declaration is disrespectful to Kenshin. Same at the end. It's not Kenshin's decision to make on if they go with (or follow as we see in Season 2) him to Kyoto or not. He doesn't get to decide & it's dismissive of their feelings to act like he's 'saving' them. We just can't hate any of them for it because we understand how their fear and experiences are blinding them & letting them 'ignore' the truths/facts they feel are inconvenient.

I watched both the 90s and the remake. In short, the remake did better from the beginning up to Katsuhiro mini story. The 90s did much better job with the introduction of Saito all the way toward the end where Kenshin leaves to Kyoto. The 90s music when Kyoto arc begin was probably one of the best soundtracks ever. In my opinion, Kyoto arc by far one of the best arc in anime history. Ideally Kyoto arc only can probably break into 2 seasons. I really hope that they won't rush the pace of the story and deliver a great job of the next coming arcs.

One of the voices you heard near the end was of a female character who we will be meeting very early in the next season. Considering that this series is going to be adapting the Jinchu and Hokkaido arcs (which were not in the original anime), it's a safe bet to assume that this series will have at least 3 seasons. There are even chapters of the manga which serve as an epilogue that were never included in the original and it would be cool to see them animated.

Today will be announced officially the second season and believe me mate it's peak fiction, best Shonen arc ever. As a long time fan it msde me happy to see you liked the anime. Lidenfilms did a tremendous job in this first season; they put love and respect the story deserves and i cannot wait to see your reactions to the next season too 👏. As a die hard fan of the original, Id say this finale and first season are right up there with the original both versions have certain strengths. They have to renew this! You literally have not seen anything yet. Intensity of season 1 is like 25% of next season

This Remake has been awesome ... Until the introduction of Saito. The 90's version of it is much much better, the soundtrack makes it just too epic. You should 100% watch at least episodes 28-29-30 of the 90's anime, which is the equivalent of 22-23 of this one. Amazing episodes.

I give 10/10 to both releases, curent and original, one of my favorite anime ever.👍 Now you need see the 1st OVA series Rurouni Kenshin: Trust and Betrayal.👌 PS: The original is truly great from this point on, it would be no problem if you react to it. The only problem is the last manga arc I recently found out about, the original didn't animate it for some reason.🤔 To answear your last question, I am only hyped for the reaction because there isn't much between this and the original English version, for me the dubb is great in this anime. My guess is the japonese one is not that inspired, that's why they made this.🙂‍↔️

These last 3 episodes (the saito ones) didnt did much justice to the original series, so if you really enjoyed rurouni kenshin, please watch the 3 episodes of the 1996 series (episodes 28-29-30) and see the masterpieces those are, specially in the soundtrack, that is in another level, and the 2023 series was heavely criticized because it was not on the same level of the 1996 series. Please watch only those 3 episodes of the 1996 series, you wont regret it.

You guys haven’t watched the old Rurouni Kenshin series? 1994-1996? There are like 95 eps, lots of them inbetween not particulary fascinating but these events are there with Saito, Shishio and many others and aren’t much different, like watching this episode it was exaclty as back then, just graphics and animation more advanced so if you have not seen it, go back and watch it instead of awaiting for new season of the remake, it won’t make much difference!

Did you say faster than Anya? Sojiro matches Himura's god like speed if not faster than Himura. So as it is we'll have to wait at least 6 months for this to continue. Unfortunately this is where it gets interesting. I grew up watching the OG with my older brothers and i scored it 10/10 and this 20/10 simply because of the animation, filler episodes and little twist in the story line. The first voice you heard is that of Misao Makamichi, then Kenshi's Master.😆

Ой Ждать 2 Сезон в хорошёй анимацией если есть оригинал Аниме есть манга шла 1994-1997 Года Аниме 1996 Года по 2000 Года 95 Серий потом в наше уже время начили овы выходить с крутой анимацией и Фильмы с Настоящими Актёрами их есть 5 Фильмов уже и если они да 1 Сезоне сделали 24 Серий то 2 Сезоне тоже будет 24 Серий и на этом наверно будет конец значит по манги сделают 48 Серий и всё а в Оригинале было 95 ну там много не сюжетных серий было но они были часть сюжета и хорошие серий так что советую тебе начать от 1 Серий посмотреть оригинал старый будет очень крутой потом и Овы тоже особенно последний Овы и Фильмы с Настоящими Актёрами.
