This is why Shunsui is such a great head captain and possibly better than Yama. He knows that not every battle can be won on our own, so he'll use unconventional methods to accomplish his goals even if it means throwing away his honour. He'll partner with friends and enemies alike to help his cause. It's the exact opposite of how Yama created the Gotei 13, which were just a group of criminals and serial killers at first, brought together under his iron thumb. What makes it better is that Yama raised Shunsui, so he made Shunsui a better man than he was.

I love how time after time we see the Soul Society Captains being antagonistic towards each other , especially Mayuri . In Soul Society arc Mayuri and Kenpachi , than Kenpachi against Komamura and Tosen , Shunsui and Ukitake against Yamamoto . Than in Espada arc we had Byakya and Kenpachi with Mayuri doing his back talks , Aizen against every captain . Now in Cour 2 we had Kenpachi against Urahara (The actual serious fight) , and lastly Mayuri taking all his own people out 🤣🤣. You know the scene with kon saying "wrong line you were supposed to beat me up"? In the manga version of the scene which was way different ichigo did beat kon up so kon's been reading the script and looking into alternate realities. The anime version of the scene is great hard to say which is better but the manga version has some bits i wish weren't cut. Like in the manga ichigo vs ishida wasn't even really a fight ichigo just gets shot off the palace and the way he ends up knocked out is he hits his head on orihime's head which is a callback to soul society arc. Then we get a random fanservice shot of yoruichi.

One thing I love about Kyoraku being the Captain Commander is that he lets everybody get their grievances out of the way. Everybody in this episode was saying how it was disgraceful and all sorts of stuff to him but he let them get it out. You would never see that from Yamamoto. Kyoraku knows that to be an effective leader you need to listen to the people around you. Sure he has to put his foot down and say this is how it is but the fact that he's willing to listen says a lot about what kind of leader he wants to be
