I just retired after 38yrs as a cemetery sexton {fancy for gravedigger}. You said your grandparents got a 25 grave {plot} section. To the best of my experience we never buried more than two people in one grave , we called it "double deep". More than that its a15 foot plus hole, crazy. I would love to see the lot card on the graves that gives the price and layout. We had cards from 1915 or so were they paid $120 for 20 graves. Love your Christan walk . Praise the lord !

My parents are buried in St John’s in a family plot that’s three graves wide. Purchased in 1928 with perpetual care for $100.00. My mothers father was a stone mason. The large family mausoleum buildings on the hill when you drive in, are tremendous granite stone block structures. There are huge winged Angel monuments, and different style grave markers. Even the small 5-6 foot tall simple granite headstones are imposing. I’ve spent countless hours talking to my dad at our gravesite, bringing him a coffee to share while I empty my heart. The highlight of my cemetery visit is always as I walk amongst the other families tombs and graves, marveling at the construction and reading the names and dates. How some go back to the early 1900’s but have weathered the ravages of time. It’s sad that with all of our modern innovation we can’t duplicate the work of those early stonemason’s. If you visit New York City take a trip to Woodhaven Blvd in Queens and visit St John’s Roman Catholic Cemetary. The history, grandeur and beauty you’ll see along with the serenity you’ll feel will leave an everlasting impression on you.

Hi Michael, Back where I’m originally from in Chicago, we have a similar cemetery that became the final resting place of many mob figures. The cemetery is Mt. Carmel in suburban Hillside, IL. My family has a plot across the street at Queen of Heaven, where I’ll go when the time comes. Some of the mob guys buried at Mt. Carmel are: Al Capone, along with two of his brothers, Frank and Ralph. The family plot is located right at the entrance so nobody has to search over 200 acres to find him. Also of renown are: Frank Nitti, Dean O’Banion, Sam Giancana, Hymie Weiss, “Machine Gun” Jack McGurn, and many others. Back when I was still living in Chicago, a young Italian/American priest at our church once said, “When Catholics die, they go to heaven; when Italians die, they go to mausoleums.” Have a blessed Easter-He Is Risen.

He was buried in a coast town, in a cemetery right by the sea, a very beautiful resting place. I know my grandfather will be very fondly remembered. Like you, i have a very big family, and he was like the big tree that united all of the branches of my family. How about you? Interesting you picked a cemetery to discuss in this episode. That indicates some depth of thought, some culture, some appreciation of spaces and design. That is good on you as a mobster (past). Forest Home Cemetery is probably the most renowned cemetery in Milwaukee among locals. This is also very interesting but I thought this video was going to be about the NY neighborhood called The Hole which is believed to be the burial site of a lot to mob figures who were disposed of. Would love your breakdown about The Hole, @Michael Franzese, if you care to do one. The stories I have already heard about it are pretty fascinating. I even spent some time with google maps looking around that place.

I used to pass by this cimetery back in 1998 , i was walking and remember being impressed by the size of it . I never knew many mobbsters where buried there.

I never knew Lucky Luciano was buried there, especially since he died in Sicily

Mike made a mistake…you can’t see St. John’s from the BQE. It’s tucked in Middle Village. His mistook Calvary Cemetery off the BQE. That’s where Vito Corleone was buried in The Godfather movie.

Many years ago I went with a church group to visit the federal prison in Springfield, Mo. For some reason I was asked to speak to the men gathered for a service. Completely unprepared I have no idea now what I said. However, do remember how I started: "Don't know about you guys, but I've made a few mistakes in my life." They all laughed and I went on from there.

Great story. Lol. I had a death row ministry in the 1990s and really enjoyed telling them about Jesus. I told them that they were missionaries in a dark mission field.. they took it to heart.

One more on the way to 1 million! Awesome content, brother. I’m a comic book writer and a Christian too but I just write about the kinds of things you lived. I’m so thankful God brought you out of that life and into His glorious light.

I love this channel, but friendly advice, whoever was in charge of the sound today should reduce the gain a little bit or see if there's something wrong with the microphone. Could be that the microphone's capsule is a bit damaged.......just a couple of possibilities.

I also love this channel and Michael is amazing. It is also not the first time that the audio has been subpar. Michael's voice is so good, so it takes away a lot from the video when the audio is of poor quality. Please fix this!
