Al Pacino was different in all three Godfather’s. In the first one, he was a personable man and very human knowing of what he’s getting into. By the time his father is looking into the fish aquarium and he’s announcing the move to Nevada, he remains a cold, stolid, and businesslike man. In his personal life, he’s cold and cruel. In part 3, he’s become a human being again, outgoing, jovial, and caring, but haunted by his cruel ways from before.

Didn't Carlo Gambino carry himself pretty close to the portrayal of Vito Corleone? Don Gambino was a very unassuming Mob leader. It was people like Crazy Joe Gallo & absolutely John Gotti that drew attention to themselves & the organization. When you saw Joey Gallo and John Gotti, you definitely knew they were GOOMBAHs! And I do not state that as a term of endearment. They were bums!
