Man, I have a 10 year old daughter, and this absolutely slaps me awake. She is one of those people like Ren's sister. She is fill of positive, loving and playful energy, trusting people, herself amd the universe. Yet here in this modern era she is already being scorned and pushed aside by the other girls and assholes of this world. It breaks my heart but I know I have to atay strong and help her kearn to push forward, hopefully knowing her father loves every punce of who she is with no hesitation and no conditions. I just hope it will be enough.

The scariest thing is I’ve never spoken to a woman about such things who’s never been assaulted or abused herself…..and kind hearted boys don’t have it easy as kids either.

@michaelgoyettemusic Spot on. My son is almost 13 and is very honest, sincere, shy and sensitive. And unbelievably intellectually intelligent. He stores information and data at an extremely high level. But instead of loving math or science (though he is amazing at them both), he values the gathering of human stories and describes it as storing other people's experiences as pictures, almost paintings with extreme detail. Yet he is already wounded because seriously, where would he have ever found friends or people like him. Plus, he is male and certain things are expected of him...and that doesn't include that amazing skill. I have had to find ways to help him toughen up because grade school absolutely destroyed his soul. Seriously, he loves learning, but feels betrayed by school. It has stolen real learning from him and replaced it with a superficial veneer. He's amazing, but already hiding from the world. Thanks for reading. I don't always know where to take this stuff. So why not just toss it into the public sphere in KZbin comments, eh 🤔

@Mhantrax For some children, taking them out of the school system is the answer. Some kids just suffer too much and in the end you have to consider what it's doing to them. I have a friend who has done that and her kids are really happy. Still learning obviously but at their pace and they choose home schooling groups that suit them. Works out great for them and gives them so much freedom to move around. For example, they are planning day trips to Europe soon for educational purposes (we're I'm the UK) visiting different countries and learning geography and history of that country. Not expensive if done outside of school holidays (which is when prices go up). Best of luck❤

@albamartinez4987 Thanks for the ideas. I have thought about this, but his mother, who is fabulous in many ways, is definitely not temperamentally suited for teaching him 😉 I am the sole money earner so I can't do it, though I would love to. We have a small problem with home schooling in America (taken over by extremist hyper conservative religious zealouts with an agenda...yup, another Maga/Trump lump of shite given to American children), but i have never heard of a home school group. I may explore that idea to see if anythjng similar is happening. Thank you.

Mike, the song Ren performs with The Big Push called “Swan Song” is his favorite piece with them. Criminally underrated and an absolute masterpiece of lyricism.
@UdoMittendorf-h5t3 ай бұрын
"Swan Song" lyrics and music are from Gorran Kendall. He wrote this in 2016 - before he met Ren and they form (with Romain Axisa) The Big Push. But it is probably an example, how similar thinking both or influence each other.

Yo Yo Yo! Really appreciate the musical knowledge you're giving us. Swing beat, 'wet' vs 'dry' and understanding what 'compression' is. Money Ties/Monetize is most probably an intended double. The "no people no prophet/profit" also.

I have a story…. 😂…. One time in a band group chat one member was using dictation apps to type and in discussing a certain expense, he proclaimed this activity was “killing all the prophets” so there you have an unintended double entendres. 😂 However I don’t think Ren made it unintentionally. Thanks the kind words. Always appreciated. ✌️

Hi Mike. Good shout on the Portishead. Another gem from Ren & his team too. Both the production and the cinematography are first class [again]. Sweet message to his Sis too. Glad I lived long enough to come across Ren after decades of 'traditional' Rock/Blues/Folk/Jazz. It's actually given me a lot more appreciation of the hip hop art form although I did buy Dummy thirty years ago [eek!] and still listen to it a lot. If you fancy a wildcard listen, check out From The Lion's Mouth by The Sound. Be interested to hear what you think of it.

Knox Hill said the female voice at the start was Kit, his Calgary contact. She will be on his next album. The sample, according to Ren, was Nayz. They’ve done a 50/50 split on this, he says. A sweet finger to Kujo! There is beautiful music in this, playing in the background, while Ren lays down the heavy words on the track. It turned out Nayz was screwed over by Kujo in the past, so the two have much in common. Two producers on this one. Somehow it works.

It most closely correlates to the English Standard Version of the Bible with a couple of minor changes. 1 Timothy 6:6-10. The passage had sounded familiar so I had to look it up. It was then I realized how much the different translations of the text differed. King James Version uses the often misquoted “For the love of money is the root of all evil” whereas the English Standard Version uses the less black & white “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils.”

I think you are correct - Money Ties is meant to sound like Monetize ( Money is the noun, Monetize is turning it into a verb). Likewise with the words “ prophets” and “ profits”. Ren is making the distinction between money, as a necessity, a tool, a means to achieve , create , or produce something that can be meaningful to BOTH oneself and to the whole ; and money as THE thing that is created. This reminds me of a time when I was in HS and all the parents were together for an event. My father asked my friends’s father what he liked to do as a hobby ( counter to the usual “ for a living “) and when the answer he got was “ I like to make money.” he found it so crass and distasteful that it became a lesson to be learned.
@BryanRobinson-z5m3 ай бұрын
I've said it other reactions, and I will say it again; I Believe Ren is a Prophet. Like Prophets of old, Ren was challenged by "Our Creator" with illness and suffering to test his worthiness to bring "HIS WORD"; Ren has proven his worthiness. He speaks/sings 'Truth', bringing messages that 'Mankind' NEEDS to hear. In the song "Sound of Silence", there is a verse where they say, "The Words of the Prophets are Written on the Subway Walls, and Tenement Halls"; Ren brings the 'Word' through his music. God Bless!

Money itself is not the root of evil, but the Love of Money IS. Money is just a tool for easier trade, but some abuse the tool. In the 1988 movie, "They Live", staring 'Rowdy Roddy Piper', aliens have 'Cloaked' everything so humans would not discover them, but with special 'Sunglasses' people could 'See' the Truth; my point, when 'Piper' wore them, he looked at money and it was plain paper with the words "This Is Your God"; everything else had cloaked messages also. In our world today there are people that Worship money like it Was God. With messages like this song, maybe 'We Humans' will wake the 'F' up, and strive to change the ills of this world; and Only worship 'Our Creator'; however one's Faith defines 'Him'. God Bless!
