To be honest, I think the lyrics in this song are very underrated. It speaks about people starting rumors with no apparent reason, just for the sake of starting something. It shows the pressure that scrutiny can lay upon you. ''You're a vegetable'' because they'll get you and eat you with their stories and rumours. In the end, what matters is that you know yourself (''I know I am someone, and let the truth unfurl'') and that's enough for you to believe in yourself (''yes I believe in me, so you believe in you''). There are people that say that the lyrics in this song are non-sensical and/or silly, I find them to be very insightful and deep tbh. This song is one of my favourite Michael Jackson songs ever.

@@unearine6183 I don't know if I would take it as compliment, but rather as a warning. When he says ''you're a vegetable'' it means that the people around you, making up stories, will ''eat you alive'', they will bring you down.

That makes sense, and this song connects to Billie Jean, He first describes Billie as a girl that spends most of her time gossiping, spreading truths and lies to her convinience, then he talks about a girl who is having a babie while having no way to feed the baby thus needing to lie and cheat to feed the baby, this isnt a stable solution so the baby is "Slowly dying". This "girl" is definetly Billie as she meets all of the qualities as described in this song and in "Billie Jean" Man micheal must have had a big trauma about a girl like that

MJ and Quincy Jones were one of the best musical teams since the beginning of time. The production quality on this track is on another level. The instrumentals and background vocals come across crisp and clear, it’s got simplicity and complexity. It’s funky but also dreamy. They had such a clear vision and executed. Sometimes I think My parents and Michael made me who I am. Michael influenced me positively in so many ways, and he was only 5 years older than me!! Watching a child create an Empire as he grows up, with his talent, has been awe inspiring, to say the least! Michael was amazing.

Heaven or hell (yea yea) everyone gonna choose (yea yea) We`re stuck in the middle (yea yea) and the devil`s lurking. (yea yea) I took my soul to the doctor with a fever but nothing to be found By the time it hit the street They said I had a “breakdown” Someone always trying to start the sinful journey talking - stealing - lying Saying I just want to be something. So you want to be choosing something. You got to be choosing something. So you want to be choosing something. You got to be choosing something. Heaven or hell (yea yea) everyone gonna choose (yea yea) We`re stuck in the middle (yea yea) and the devil`s lurking. (yea yea) We´re love to pretend that we`re good When we`re always up to no good. We really cannot make it on our own as our tongues always razors. Someone always trying to start the sinful journey talking - stealing - lying we got the public crying. So you want to be choosing something. You got to be choosing something. So you want to be choosing something. You got to be choosing something. Heaven or hell (yea yea) Everyone gonna choose (yea yea) We`re stuck in the middle (yea yea) and the devil`s lurking. (yea yea) If the devil feed no soul (yea yea) Then why you trusting (yea yea) Why you thinking “maybe” (yea yea) The devil can´t even feed a baby. (yea yea) You`ll be always trying to stop the evil what`s done (yea yea) talking - stealing - lying as the souls keeps dying. So you want to be choosing something. You got to be choosing something. So you want to be choosing something. You got to be choosing something. Heaven or hell (yea yea) Everyone gonna choose (yea yea) We`re stuck in the middle (yea yea) and the devil`s lurking. (yea yea) Lift up your head high and scream out loud: I BELIEVE IN GOD AND NOT IN NO MAN`S LIE! No evil can hurt me now for GOD keeps me safe Yes I believe in Him for I walk on the road The only road, which HE give. We`re gonna say: our souls are freed from lies. We`re gonna say: our souls are freed from lies. We`re gonna say: our souls are freed from lies. We`re gonna say: our souls are freed from lies.
