"She's Out of My Life" was the third and final short film created for 'Off the Wall.' Filmed on the same day as the "Rock with You" short film, director Bruce Gowers praised Michael's performance as "very emotional" to Rolling Stone in 2014.

THE SHORT FILM
Director: Bruce Gowers
Primary Production Location: Los Angeles, California
Although all of Michael Jackson's music videos are referred to as short films, the short films for Off the Wall, Michael's first solo album for Epic Records, are more classic "music videos," as they are performance clips rather than scripted stories. Michael's short film for "She's Out of My Life" was the third of the three short films produced for recordings from that album. The single reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980, giving Michael Jackson the distinction of being the first solo artist to have four Top 10 singles from the same album. The song also reached the Top 10 in Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
"She's Out of My Life" was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on February 14, 1989. The song became a fan favorite due to Michael's emotional performances of it, both in the studio and in concert. When recording the song, Michael would cry at the end of every take. "The words suddenly had such a strong effect on me," Michael later wrote in his 1988 memoir Moonwalk. "I had been letting so much build up inside of me.but if it touched people's heartstrings, knowing that would make me feel less lonely." The song became a fixture of Jackson's Bad and Dangerous World Tours, during which Michael would approach the front of the stage and sing directly to a fan.
The short film featured Michael performing the song while seated on a stool, with only a spotlight illuminating him. Bruce Gowers directed the short films for both "Rock With You" and "She's Out of My Life" on the same day. "Very emotional he was in that. I was worried that he was actually going to break down and cry," Gowers said in an interview with Rolling Stone. In 2014, the magazine ranked "She's Out of My Life" No. 17 on a list of Michael Jackson's 20 Greatest Videos, praising Jackson's groundbreaking use of "stark performance videos.showing him capable of carrying a highly intense video."

It really is fun fact when Michael Jackson used to perform this song he would always bring some girl from the concert to join in and give them a hug while singing it next to their ear until the girl was dragged out from the stage. Honestly though the concerts are really emotional and I highly encourage you to watch them here's one of the concerts that he did when performing the song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3uQg616gLpoeZI

I came across this song from instagram. And it makes me think about how ironic it was, listening to the artist that the person I cared so deeply, and admired so fondly, is now literally out of my life. We had so many shared and wonderful memories listening to Michael Jackson. The idea of him being gone no longer hurts me, but I'm thankful how much we connected, just because of an amazing artist.

He was blessed with a special talent. He had a very sensitive nature too, he was able to empathize with the children starving in Africa (He cowrote "We are the World"), he showed empathy for marginalized people (Man in the Mirror). There will never be anyone like Michael Jackson. I first started listening to him during the early 70s, I even watched the Jackson 5 cartoon too. Michael Jackson played a big part of my life and was a big reason that I was a music lover during the 70s and 80s.

0:20 😅😢 I had the privilege of seeing M J. perform this ballad,,, live. ❤I was fifth row center while he sang this song. The importance of me saying this Is,,, because this was the first time Michael was performing On stage without his brothers. 🕊️🕊️. He had decided to go solo. He hooked up with Quincy Jones and an album was created,, And this one of the song's on the soundtrack So now he was promoting it and he was doing that at New Jersey stadium and I was blessed enough to get tickets (fifth row center).,,,,, Being it was his first solo performance. I was kind of skeptical and not sure he'd pull it off. ,,,,Yet as he sang this particular song M J. sat on the edge of the stage,, and he looked right into my eyes and sang this beautiful lullaby. So whenever I hear it I always ❤ close my eyes.,,and remember that night,,,, it was in June,, accompanied by a light Summer breeze and there was Michael sitting on the edge of a stage with minimal security. No one really knew him,,, In other words, he hadn't grown into being the King of Pop. It was such a great show and he was such a great guy. He wasn't flirtatious. He was scared. He didn't do much dancing that night. He was just trying to get himself noticed as his own individual artist. He didn't want to be with his brothers anymore. So this was the showdown and boy did. he sweep my heart away. I think he did about three encores and that wasn't even enough. He was young. He was very talented. Still insecure ,,, He's sang each and every song with every ounce of energy he had. This was the night he had to prove to himself and to the world that he could stand alone,,,, He could go solo. Folks. Let me tell you he proved it and that was the night I got addicted to Michael Jackson. Song after song album after album. It never stopped. My admiration for that young man on that particular summer night, singing,, will always be remembered by me. It took him so much courage to walk away from his family,, yet he knew he had to release the music he felt inside of his heart.❤ He couldn't hold back his drive to perform and sing the way he wanted to. With the grace of God🕊️🙏🕊️, everything worked out ,,,,,,,,,and After that first solo performance Michael was heading towards a future. I don't even think he expected... He just kept excelling and excelling ,,,selling record after record and now I don't think this one person. on this Earth🌎 that does not have one thing that They do know about Michael Jackson. It could be either his hat, his shoes, his one glove, maybe the beginning of one of his songs. They say not one human being on this planet does not know something about Michael Jackson. Just think about that for a minute. Wow, that's a powerful statement 🌟🌟💫💫💫💫

Michael was always so sensitive, so serene and passive, listening to him gives me peace, I think that for an artist is very... Michael didn't want to be recognized just for his dance and music, he wanted people to see who he is, inside his wounded soul, which always searched for love and happiness, but many were not interested in that. Great shame, thank you Michael for the legacy!!

I am a middle age Chinese male from Hong Kong and I just can’t help to crying when every time I heard this song,Although we don’t know each other but Michael just like one of our families or good friend who have been growth with us together, This song not only records the wonderful and incredible voice of Michael Jackson, but also records the feelings and those beautiful unforgettable memories between people in our life time, It also reminds us that we used to have some older family members who always loved us very deeply, but now they are no longer alive. When you find that the elders families have passed away one by one, but you just can't do nothing ,your heart will feel very helpless and sadness, And most of all, you will find out that you never treat them as well as they treat you. You never use your best love and time for them,You will feel very depressed and regret. So in order to stop making regrets for yourself and your family, I think we should do our best to treat them well and give them the most sincere love and care. I mean time waits for nobody,One morning in January 2011, my father went out for the morning sports as usual, Maybe because of the stroke, he suddenly fainted and hit a stone in the brain, causing serious intracranial hemorrhage. When we went to the hospital, the doctor had declared that there was no way to save him. After few hours,He’s gone.... He died suddenly and didn't even leave a word for us. So I understand that people will never know what will happen tomorrow? So we must cherish our parents and those peoples we love. Hey friend,if you haven't done it yet, please start right now.

It is funny that you mention being Chinese, I mean that with all due respect though. I am saying all of this to say this because Michael Jackson has Chinese Ancestry. And he gets it from his mother Katherine Jackson, who is on average about 20-25 percent Chinese by blood.

It wasnt that he didnt think he was handsome. He began to demonstrate the disease Vitiligo. It is a long term skin condition characterized by skin losing their pigment ( color) the patches of skin affected become white and sharp margins. Michael began getting patches on his face, while the biggest pop star in the world. He thought he would look bad with Black features and White skin like “Albinos”. This is why he started Plastic surgery. He didn’t want to be white. He simply thought If the disease was gonna make him white, then he would look better with white features. Thus the surgeries on his nose. It is difficult for Black skin to not scar with Plastic surgery. I think Michael had too many surgeries trying to get it right. He never wanted to be White. He simply was trying to find a way to deal with the disease anf the changes it made in his appearance. Same with the hair. He no longer felt his Afro worked with this new skin color. He did some bleaching of the brown skin to get it closer to the color of the patches of white. There is a model who has vitiligo and this many years later, she is accepted with large white patches on her face and body. So Michael was perfectly happy with how he looked til the skin disease.

Anghiari Fior he actually thought he looked like Joe, he had such a tragic relationship with his dad he didn’t want to even resemble him, on top of that Michael as you stated had vitiligo but before that he developed really bad acne. He went through so many changes even with the burn from the Pepsi commercial. He lost a lot of his hair, which is why he started to wear wigs. I honestly never thought he resembled Joe he looked more like his mom and she so beautiful Janet is her twin.

This is the Michael Jackson of my 70’ and 80’, before the self inflicted plastic surgeries and his paranoia and other mental illnesses took hold of him. Especially in the 80’s Michael was supreme. So sadly missed and such a talent.

Yeah, Quincy Jones actually talked about how Michael kept crying after singing this song in their 10ish recording sessions. Quincy then decided to keep MJ’s cry in the recording as it’s exactly what the song is about.

One unnoticed thing about this song is how beautifully it expresses the feeling of "true" love. In those times, love was real and people were real. Losing a loved one wasn't as casual as it is nowadays. People tend to move on like it was a piece of cake. What Michael's voice depicts is that he truly loved someone but couldn't express it. And someone's absence really affects him. This stands out at a moral about true love. Exactly. A moral. Another thing which songs these days miss. RIP Michael Jackson.

Lyrics: She is out of my life She is out of my life And I don't know whether to laugh or cry I don't know whether to live or die And it cuts like a knife She is out of my life It's out of my hands It's out of my hands To think for two years, she was here And I took her for granted I was so cavalier Now the way that it stands She is out of my hands So I've learned, that love is not possession And I've learned, that love won't wait Now I've learned, that love needs expression But I've learned, to wait and... She is out of my life She is out of my life Damned indecision And cursed pride Kept my love for her deep inside And it cuts like a knife She is out of my... Life

@@CorpusChristi-j8x Not hardly. By putting a statement in quotation marks followed by Michael Jackson's name signifies Michael Jackson is the author of the quote, which he isn't. The Terminator is a non fiction character, therein lies the difference.
