My neurologist is considering this for me as an absolute last resort. The moment that she mentioned "surgery", I reflexively added "deep brain stimulation". I don't know how scared I must've looked, but she immediately started to explain how there are other treatments left to try (apomorphine infusion is working a treat, started two weeks ago) and that my diagnosis may not even be Parkinson's. Regardless, she made sure to stress that my youth (32) and otherwise good health meant that I have everything going for me even if I do end going that far. DBS still scares the living daylights out of me, but I'll never forget how empathetic the doctor was. She didn't hug me, feel sorry for me or anything like that. She simply explained everything as best she could, and it did indeed calm me more than anything else could have. When my parents visited me in hospital a while later, I asked them to order a full plate of far (Breton cake) from a bakery that I know from experience to be exceptional. (My mum bought two by happy accident.) It was all I could do to express my gratitude for their professionalism and positive attitude to the hospital staff. Anyway...yup. Just wanted to share that as I work myself up to watch this.

Hi guys! Sorry, I will speak in portuguese. Gostaria de saber se o Michael.J. Fox fez essa cirurgia. Li em algum lugar que ele disse que não faria. Meu marido tem 7 anos de diagnóstico, faz fisioterapia neurológica , pilates, caminhadas e toma medicação de 5 em 5 horas em um total de 600 mg de Prolopa por dia. Ele está ÓTIMO. Ele não pretende fazer a cirurgia. Não parece que vale a pena. Oura coisa: nós não reduzimos intervalos nem aumentamos doses todas as vezes que os médicos mandam. Tem dado muito certo.
