Yesterday, I decided to go for a lunch with my son, didn´t feel like it really, but dragged my lazy butt to our favorite eat out place anyway. While I was getting my food from a buffet table I heard THIS playing from speakers. I froze immediately. I sat down and started eating, listening... I was in awe. I couldn´t help myself, with mouth full and still chewing, I rushed to cashier´s counter and asked a man behind it who´s music they were playing. A lovely man just smiled and gave me a 10-minute long lecture about this artist I have never heard about before.... how happy I am now I went for that lunch yesterday. I discovered a gem.

Why would you care whether someone curses or not? Especially why would you not listen to awesome music just because of a word choice?
@Broeske38 жыл бұрын
Ninjalectual The music may be awesome but words give you thoughts and that can affect a person. Cursing has a negative effect on the human mind. Combining that with music and instrumental vibration makes it more effective (destructive more to say). Positive poetry and metaphorical lyrics can help you develop and think better. Just senseless cursing on the beat is not very inspirational. Every person is free to choose his or her music. It's just the way I interpret music.
@Broeske38 жыл бұрын
Cappah why are you so mad. This is the music I like. A lot of people don't like Lequid Swords 😉 (I do). Do you judge all these people? Don't hate.
@Broeske38 жыл бұрын
Cappah It's OK to be mad. Maybe my comments hurt your feelings. That was not my purpose. I didn't say that any curse word in a song is bad. What I am talking about is that a lot of music only talks about ass and sex. All day. It's a positive change to hear some music like Michael Kiwanuka. Again this is my choice of music.
@Ninjalectual8 жыл бұрын
You say "cursing has a negative effect on the human mind." Can you cite your source on this? Because I've never heard of any study finding this result. I'm beginning to think you just made that up, because it fits what you *WANT* to believe, rather than fitting how reality *actually is*. This, sir, is how ignorance proliferates.

With a women’s choir repeating that dada dum phrase like a mantra all through the whole song, with strings, which aren’t sugary but touching deeply with true dramatic passion, with these existential lyrics sung by a young man with plain and sincere passion…. I love this song. My mom passed Feb 2021. I stopped singing. This was a big deal because I LOVE to sing. Months later I played Michael Kiwanuku songs during drive to work. I started singing again especially because I related to his songs AND couldn't help singing those catchy backups - "papa bodoh po buddup buddup" became a mantra.😍 The defiance in singing "You can't break me down. You can't take me down" was also powerful during a time when I felt overwhelmed by grief. Now I sing this song with such strength and conviction. I see myself singing with Mr. Kiwanuku especially I've Been Dazed. 🤩Thank God for his gifts and honest expressions, they've been a lifeline. Thank you.🙏

@@ryanbesco8067 sorry for the long post. Worrying takes a toll on your mental and physical health, it'll stop you from enjoying life. Keep making memories with your loved ones. Live. If you are Christian, here's Scripture found in Matthew 6:34, “Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” We may not be able to stop trouble in the world, or trouble in our lives, but one thing we do not have to do is worry about it. If you are not Christian.... How can you stop worrying? Mindfulness and meditation. Deep breathing. Practice self-compassion. Do a body scan. Share your fears with friends and family. Practice gratitude. Keep an emotions journal. Maintain a consistent sleep schedule.

it is by design. it used to be called brainwashing, but now it's just the new normal. Also, people don't appreciate sadness, melancholy, soft, deep emotions that make you look into your soul and ask questions and truly feel reality anymore. Today people want fake shallow things that confirm their status and power, that gives them adrenaline and a sense of dominance over the others. Just like in a prison, the worst and the most violent are in control. Instead of compassion and healing we choose destruction and chaos. It's the inherent violent nature of the evolutionist approach to life. And although the nature of this song is incredible optimistic and beautiful, it probably comes, like all true great art, from pains and shame and misery. And the establishment can't admit that in a world of glamour and virtual happiness. Even if 100 M views say that we're still human.

As a 25 year old just released from prison this song makes me look back to my time spent in the system and all the time lost. I was sent to the penitentiary at 19 years old for a crime I truly didn’t commit and have spent my entire adult life to this point stuck behind walls because our corrupt system deems it “just”. When I watched the new show on Netflix and this song came on that shit hit me hard. Perfect moment for a perfect song. So glad I found this masterpiece 🙏

Dear Jesse, im sorry to hear that you faced such hardships, but i urge you, do not let your past suppress a future that you may have. You may face even worse now that you are out of that system. Being institutionalized has nothing institutionalizing about it in the current prison system. Pick up where you left, complete everything you start. save your time, money and your heart for thing that matters the most, which is you. Only you can pull yourself out of this.

Bro, first of all, I'm sorry you had to go through the fact that you got locked up for something you did not commit. We live in a media world, you got to experience the step from being a kid into adulthood without influences, ofcourse other than the people in prison you were with, people who have made mistakes in their life or that got screwed by others or the law system. But I think in these years you get to know your trueself without influences of perfectionism on social medias. Everything happens for a reason, it might not always be a reason that we understand but it will take us to where we need to go. My bestest advice is, be stronger than your impulses and stick for what is right for and to you.
