My mom & dad divorced when I was 14. My dad was an alcoholic & a mean one at that. Mom remained single until I turned 24 & started my own family. That is when she reunited with her high school sweetheart after he went through a divorce with the women he left my mom for when they were 19. I'm now 43 & this past Saturday they celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary. Sometimes it's not about longing for youth & nostalgia, it's just what's supposed to be. He's a great man, a great husband & has became a great stepdad & grandpa to me & my kids. Likewise for my mom with his kids. Bennifer failed for other reasons... Vanity, publicity, oh & Ben is a drunk & Jen is a known narcissistic diva!

@snthonyrose. Exactly my thoughts! Affleck & Lopez were happy to get back together and be again the “It” couple of the early 2000’s, the “Bennifer” myth. After they split up back then, the “It” couple was “Brangelina.” And later came other celebrity couples (Tom Brady & Gisele B., Clooney & Amal.) I saw them when they reunited a few years ago, the gloating on their faces, back to the Bennifer aura. I too thought there was so much vanity, arrogance, showing off with their constant public kissing, etc. I didn’t think it would last, not that I wish anything bad, but I thought it was too much parading from both of them. I just feel very sad for their children. Regarding your personal story, although this is sad for your dad, I am very happy for you and your mother. It is a beautiful story. And I totally agree with you regarding getting back with a former boyfriend /girlfriend. It has to be genuine.

I have watched divorce spread like a cancer among friend groups. We also experienced (in our younger years) people who were our couple friends split up & you can NOT remain friends with either. In the case of one couple I know who have been married almost 50 years, They're not the same kind of narc, AND, the big key to their marriage: They try to always have a shared perceived enemy they're angry with, and whom they just verbally tear down together, endlessly. It gives them a kind of energy.... they feel mutually superior to the person, and they take all their rage and throw it in that bucket instead of at each other. It's super duper toxic. It ruined a business they owned...and their grown kids getting married, yikes. They behaved absolutely horribly through the run up on the weddings, And really wanted to make the in-laws some of their "worthless villains" hoping their adult kids would agree. Those marriages ended up either in divorce or with their adult child going full no contact and walking away.

It's a complete insult to the sacredness of marriage. With the way they carry themselves, they're literally kicking it, pissing on it and laughing at it whilst going off chasing hedonistic pleasures elsewhere in the process once they've finished their round together - until the next round to "marry" again until finished and on and on it can go. Sadly, it’s so obvious that Jennifer Lopez has always been very self absorbed and selfish. The one thing I know about Ben Affleck is that he had an alcohol addiction in the past, and his ex wife Jennifer Garner actually helped him with that (took him to rehab even after they had already divorced). All I can say is that Ben ran from a narcissist (JLo), married an attractive but sensible woman (JG), but went back to the narcissist a second.time. What’s that saying: “Burn me once, blame on you, burn me twice, blame on me!”

J-LO NEEDS TO MOVE ON! BEN DOESN'T LOVE HER, and she is so hopelessly in love with him. Everyone is ragging on her but I see a woman so desperate in love that she would do anything to keep this person. Yes, she was divorced a lot and she should've just remained single. But still, you can't deny that Ben was the one stringing her along and then dropped her like a hot rock. J-Lo deserves love from a man who fits her and complements her or to stay single and focus on herself & her kids!

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are better off apart. They are both chemically imbalanced and extremely high maintenance. Their relationship has been nothing but a rollercoaster of ups and downs but mostly downs. Time to move on; I wonder who will be the next ex-spouse/partner for each of them? It's a shame, really, they are both very intelligent.

The take on for me to watching all of these broken people’s lives are: 95-98% of humanity are consciously broken and we can’t do real love at this point of the time. So we repeating the same thing find next partner , another partner, another partner, just to get the same kind of outcome each time. And unbelievably, very few of us really want to learn why this is happening? Now I learned myself and humanity, I stay single and living alone. I now find hard to watching many many people ( not just these Hollywood people, people like this is everywhere), not willing to look within themselves first, to fix their own emptiness and lack of self love issues, to fix the wrong idea that we must have a relationship in order to survive. People like Ben, JLo and Gardner all should stop to have any relationship, go spend time live alone for at least 2 years, by that time, they will go through the most painful self reflection and know the problems are all started from ourselves. Most of us are NOT equipped to have any health loving relationship at this point of the time, keeping doing it is like keeping lie to yourself, that somehow the next relationship should be right.

The truths - such us not rekindling an old flame for the sake of rekindling an old flame - are the truths no matter who says it. Beside, despite believing that there's no way one can prove God's existence, I do respect Jesus as a teacher of humanity. I think highly of many of his teachings. Jen likes the idea of relationships. I think (of course just speculation) that she’s addicted to the honeymoon stage of a relationship where everything is rosy and fun. Once reality sets in she’s out the door. She’s also incredibly full of herself, so no one is going to be able to love JLO more than JLO loves herself.

A lesson I think a lot of people can learn here is: make sure your spouse’s ex has boundaries. He is with Jen G alllll the time. Which together they have kids aged 12,15 and 18. You never saw AROD hanging out with his wife, you don’t see Marc Anthony hanging out with JLO even though we know both of these men are good fathers and active in their kids lives. They showed up to the kids events , their kids visit them and love them. Weirdly you never even see Jen Garner with her on-again off-again fiancé. I think there is a clear lack of healthy boundaries here with Jen Garner and Ben Affleck under the guise of “coparenting” that would be hard for any person being the significant other either Ben or Garner’s to manage. And even try to talk to them about without sounding jealous. Ben doesn’t need to be at Garners house and hanging out with her all the time to coparenting a 12,15 and 18 year old. And that’s not even touching on how people say he discusses his current marital issues with Jen, his ex. Very very very clear lack of boundaries.

@@marisol6560 even “good friends” who are exes don’t hang like that when they have partners. Or they would include their partners occasionally. Look at Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. They are broken up but actually still friends and they all vacation together with the kids with their SO’s. You never see JLO (or when he was living with Ana De Armas) hanging out with him and Jen G. His significant others and Jens fiancé are never pictured at these outings. If my SO had a “good friend” but he was always wanting to run over there alone and not have us together and vice versa id be uncomfortable.

Maybe he was comiserating with JenG how he'd made a mistake marrying JLo. A friend of his suggested if it was possible to get an annulment on the grounds of temporary insanity, he would have. Ben spent a lot of money - $100,000/month - to get away from JLo and be closer to his kids. JLo had been pushing for a move to New York - 3,000 miles away from his kids - and she had fhem photographed March 31 "house hunting" in New York. He moved out soon after they returned to L.A.

Even when he was with Ana de Armas even though magazines (for what it’s worth) said they didn’t all hang out as a group (with Ana )because a source said “Jen wasn’t there yet.” I kinda get it but also… What?! If the kids can hang out with Ana why not do a group thing? She’s literally always around anyway. I totally 100% understand they have to see each other because they have kids but we never seen Jen G with her fiancé/boyfriend we never see her and him with the kids. But somehow we always see her and Ben together? Even before the JLO days. They court the paps just like everyone else but then want to act like they have issues and make JLO the scapegoat saying we need “privacy”. Sometimes revisiting an old “missed” opportunity is your chance to grow and show you have learned enough to not make that mistake again. It’s not always because it’s your second chance to do what you did the first time with different results. Unfortunately, they didn’t use those extra years to grow positively in ways that they should have. So they just repeated the same mistake again, but went further with it this time.
