$750 that people need internet, devices, and electricity to apply for. THEN, they have to be in the correct financial demographic to eligible. And they are not eligible if they have house insurance!!! THEN, they need to be able to access a bank or a ATM. In NC we have a democrat governor, Roy Cooper, who prioritized shutting down businesses and marching with BLM during Covid. I expect nothing less than dismal results from him. The national news is to busy trying to tarnish our Lt Governor, Mark Robinson, who is now running for Governor, instead of reporting on the horrors of what has happened and the neglect of democrat officials. Mark Robinson has been working with local sheriff departments and organizations and personally delivering much needed supplies since last week. Roy Cooper has been in Raleigh doing press conferences.

Writing this comment from a grocery store in Western North Carolina just so I can have wifi and make sure my friends are alive right now. Can confirm North Carolina's response for the mountains has been abysmal. As usual for times of disaster, they're ignoring us mountain folk to send aid to the State's richest in Raleigh and Charlotte, whose biggest problems right now are having to go a few hours (gasp) without high speed internet, and not being able to go get their nails done. Hundreds are missing right here and this State's atrocious Democrat government has just sent our national guard to the Middle East. To the government, we're just a bunch of dumb, bigoted hillbillies nobody cares about. I wouldn't worry too much about us though. Southern Appalachia is the most impoverished region in the country. We're tough as nails out here, and we've been failed and forgotten by the government for so long that we're used to it, and have backup plans for our backup plans for scenarios exactly like this one. This storm was strong but our communities are stronger. All the men in my neighborhood have been going around with chainsaws all week cutting up fallen trees and clearing the roads, because we know damn well nobody cares about us, and if we don't help ourselves, nobody will. Us women have been boiling creek water to drink, bottling it up, and driving around giving it for free to those who need it most. Things are bad, but we've been ready for this for decades. To anyone with family or friends in Western NC you can't get ahold of, I know it's scary, but take it from me as a local, they're in good hands. They're gonna be fine. It doesn't help that people were bringing things to help but a few that I heard on KZbin said that they were told to bring the stuff to different drop off places and it would be given out. There was one guy that loaded up and want to get stuff to people that would need four wheel drive to get it there. I'm sure he was aware that four wheel drive couldn't get every where but he was doing his best. He ended up getting told to bring it to a location. It sounded to me that he didn't have a choice. I'm going back thru what I watched to see if he was turned away. We have churches in Michigan that want to get a semi and load it up with necessities but the only thing I heard was they were not able to get answers. It makes me sick that there are people suffering, help needs to get there.

My town has a small airport and within 24 hours our ex military and ex Delta pilots banded together, started "Bubble Lift", as they call it, and my whole town loaded all their private planes up with supplies and they have been flying back and forth to areas that they can access with their planes and which have not received aid. My sister is in Hot Springs, NC, today she cooked spaghetti for 100 people because the flood waters stopped short right at their front door and a lot of their friends lost everything. She was watching buildings float down the French Broad. I'm praying for all of you and I am so angry with how the government is just ignoring Appalachia and sending more money to Ukraine.

I live in the mountains of Virginia. Sometimes it rains in these hills. What happened last week was terrible and it's one of the worst we've seen but every 40 to 60 years major flooding occurs somewhere in the many valleys we have here. Great work! We're in east NC and we love the mountains and hope to retire there on a lot we are slowly improving. We want to go back there as soon as possible and do what we can do. Right now its closed for first responders and emergency /utility workers and I support that but where the hell is FEMA and why is their bank account empty... floating illegal criminals high life on their American Vacation. It is costing lives. Where are the military. NC has hundreds of helicopters and years of rations that will be thrown out. This is terrible. It’s much worse in NC the body count keeps going up. Roads and bridges out. People using horses to get supplies up. people are running out of time to get them water. Stories I’m hearing is crazy. We have been working nonstop and everyone exhausted. So many people are missing. I talked to a line man who was maybe 20 who pull body’s out of power lines. This is life changing event people have lost everything homes loved ones pets and livestock. We will never be the same after this but maybe it’s time to make some changes in the country. Our priorities have not been focused on the important things. Do what you can but more importantly pray

My family lives in northern Greenville county SC about 20 minutes away from the boarder. We were hit hard by Helene but no where near like NC and TN were. People are coming to our town to buy supplies to take to NC and the stories coming from the mountains are horrific. The government isn’t doing anything. Private businesses and groups are mobilizing to go to NC and are being ARRESTED! Thank you for talking about this but we need more people covering this!

My house finally got power back on Wednesday afternoon and my grandparents and aunt and uncle’s house which is just around the corner from mine the power came back on Thursday evening. Our church is donating to Western North Carolina, Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. Just please keep everyone in your prayers as well involved in this Hurricane. Why hasn’t the Marine Corps been called? They called the National Guard, which is nothing but weekend warriors. They’re not trained in serious rescue missions. Right there, North Carolina you have Camp Lejeune MCAS Cherry point, MCAS Beaufort, SC , Partis Island, All trained in rescue missions, Trained to hike in rough terrain, Trained to build temporary bridges and Roads in wartime , Just a few hours away from Asheville , Chimney Rock, Blowing Rock There are people right now as I’m typing this desperately in need of life and death rescue ! It’s also under the authority of State Governors so it can be deployed more specifically and rapidly than active duty soldiers who are federally controlled.

I am so glad that you’re addressing this I know that the Cajun Navy have been there since the beginning and I have collected all kinds of stuff baged and tagged plus electronics and lines etc and my time and it’s very hard to find someone to tell me what to do with all of this so I keep calling friends in Georgia still no electricity but I have decided to go and personally deliver it to some churches and go volunteer as much as I can cause FEMA is giving $750 per household THATS INSANE so calling all Americans who can help to go and help they will not have electricity for a good while are mail how you going to get them that money and then what they need food water meds all kinds of stuff so please anyone who can help with things they need please just get it to them fyi my SUV is full but we have to help these people God bless everyone who cares and it sure doesn’t look like the government cares about

I'm in the Augusta Georgia area, my take away is thank God for my preps. You have to take care of yourself to the best of your ability. The problem is when your supplies run out. You need a secondary plan. How long before they ban prepper channels? Some have already been smeared in a hit piece

Here in upstate SC our whole community is collecting food items and other personal items to send by helicopter to western NC! Even blood donations! We are worried for you all. My hope is for the government to send the aid needed to rebuild roads and clean up debris quickly so you can get your community back and running. Theres no road access up there, the roads were wiped away by floods and mudslides. Where is the extra aid?!

If you can donate, please do so through the organization Robby mentions at around the 14:00 mark, donate to Samartians Purse and then there is a Mountain Mule organization, but I can't fully remember their name at this writing, who are doing amazing work getting to people in remote areas. I'm in NC & have seen videos of state & local officials telling would be rescuers to stay away. A guy in his personal helicopter was threatened with jail if he rescued any more people. They've blocked access to the entire western part of the state. There are people all over social media asking for a way through so they can help save those stranded. Entire tractor trailers full of supplies are being turned away or stored in a FEMA camp. I'm not sure if it's true, but I've also heard people say that officials are leaving dead bodies instead of collecting them. The local hotels are so full of federal employees that the people who've lost everything have to so place to stay once they're rescued. My local church is going on Monday and Tuesday, and I plan to be there. We've already collected lots of supplies. I plan on hiking for miles if I have to. The state and federal response is disgustingly embarrassing. If not for civilians, most of those stranded would still be.

The fact that FEMA is giving all this money to immigrants explains why those affected back in my hometown of Douglas Georgia that “qualify” for it are only getting $750. From the last thing I’ve heard back home, nearly all powerlines are down, if not all of them, and the lineman crews are struggling to keep up with all the work and are trying to get at least 100 more crews out there to help out. I’m so thankful me and my wife deployed when we did though because our home back home is essentially destroyed..

You begin to see that who governs you is very important when these kind of things happen and if you look at the state of Florida and see the way their governor responds, you can see the difference. The governor of North Carolina is a Democrat and you see over and over and over again when a situation happens how they handle it whether it’s in Colorado or wherever it’s not good. We cannot understand why governor cooper is not responding accordingly. It will be a week tomorrow. It is the private citizens. Its the small churches. Samaritans purse. Veteran organizations. They are buying out of their own pockets and doing the work. Towns like boone, Asheville, chimney rock, they are islands unto themselves. Roads washed away. One lane roads into these areas. Chain saws need gas. There is none unless brought in small batches by private citizens. Semi trucks can not go on these roads. Stores running out of food. I could go on, but i am getting angry. I live in Western NC and have been trying to help in these smaller communities outside of Asheville. I can tell you that it is worse than most of the news coverage is showing and most of the help is coming from individuals and individual organizations coming in from around the country and Canada. The Democrat response from DC down to the local government has been ridiculous. Until Trump hit the ground here and called them out, we heard crickets from them. And what we have heard hasn't been very useful.
