Hi, I contribute to the OCLP project (documentation and testing) and I'd like to shed light on couple of the issues. When you install to an empty disk, you should always format the entire disk by choosing "View -> Show All Devices" and select the topmost option on the disk tree, otherwise only the main partition will be formatted and EFI partition will not be created. I''ll add this to the documentation. Regarding autopatching, if you still have the OCLP USB drive intact, would you be able to check "/Library/Packages" path in the root of the drive (enable hidden files) and see whether "AutoPkg-Assets.pkg" and the KDK are there. This is because autopatching should work even when the drive is created from other system, so it could indicate a possible bug. Lastly, unfortunately the "an error occured during software update" is a really weird issue with unknown cause, all you can really do is try again like you did.
@MichaelMJD4 сағат бұрын
Thanks for the info! I just checked the USB and those files are not there.

@@MichaelMJD Ok so I talked with a dev, he answered by saying that you should choose the Mac model before creating the disk as otherwise the app doesn't know what to do especially if creating on Apple Silicon system which of course are not patchable. Anyway, this video really helped us to improve the documentation to hopefully reduce these issues.

I got the Mid 2012 MD101 running Catalina, I should try Monterey one day. Is it smooth or does it struggle sometimes? And so you have an nvidia GPU or just Intel?
@Justaperson10006 сағат бұрын
It’s smooth for id say normal day to day (what I use it for) things like searching the web, doing emails, watching movies or even just using it as a lil tool for those macOS only items. Heck I even use it for app design in figma when not near my main computer, It CAN stutter at times but works past it like a champ. I have the Intel HD graphics 4000 one.
@Justaperson10006 сағат бұрын
it IS worth noting that you can go over Monterey but certainly not after sonoma as then it starts to get laggy, I’d recommend you use Monterey while you can especially since Catalina is lacking support in many places now

I had a much easier time with a 2012 iMac. Works great. There are a few glitches though. Metal isn’t supported so gaming support is limited to whether the game still supports OpenGL. Also stage manager doesn’t turn on at all. I’m guessing for similar reasons. Screen sharing doesn’t work either because the iMac needs a Bluetooth hardware upgrade (AirPods won’t connect either I’m guessing for that reason). Also, notifications flicker, but other than that, it is a fully functional computer. OCLP for the win!

I am posting this from a late 2009 iMac upgraded with Sequoia with OCLP. Sequoia will run on 4gb, even 2gb apparently. Sequoia with 4gb and a spinning rust hard drive was pretty unbearable. I swear it took 2 minutes or more to boot, then another minute or so once the desktop loaded before you could really do anything. I stuck another 8gb into my iMac for a total of 12 and the improvement was huge. Of course, since it's running an ancient Core 2 Duo and Nvidia 9400 graphics, there's a lot it can't really do but, it still browses the web nicely and KZbin videos under 1080p60 work well too

Good that you blurred out the serial number! If you ever post pictures about your mac info pane, make sure your serial number is not visible, why? Because hackintoshers take these, program them into their efi partition, and they can use your serial number to activate iMessage, FaceTime and other apple services, and if apple sees this, that 2 computers are using the same serial number, they ban both! So, if you posted pictures of your serial number, and can't sign in to these apple services anymore, that might be the reason why! Don't share your serial number!
