I took your advice from an old video and set up a phone for gaming. It works really well. The screen is much much nicer than cheap handhelds, the CPU is a lot faster, the sound is better, and it didn't even cost much thanks to cell carrier no-contract promotions. And using my favorite controller, it's also super comfy. Really digging it, and also happy that I escaped the search for the perfect handheld.

I just bought a Powkiddy RGB20 Pro which is very similar to this but honestly, if the purple color of the Brick was available I would've probably wanted to had gotten that over the 20 Pro. Sick color. At the end of the day I'm not too bothered though because both devices only really change in look and not much else. edit: Looking at the handhelds spreadsheet, the RGB20 Pro is slightly nicer hardware than the Trimui, also has sticks which is nice, I'm excited for it to arrive in the mail for me, possibly next week.

Mine is on the way. I love love love the TSP, so I was hopeful for this one, even though I know the experience will be different. I'm hopeful that Crossmix will address many of the issue it has, the same as it did for the TSP. The developer community seems to have a big hand in what devices are successful. I guess that's not a terrible thing in the end because they can do it better than the manufacturers and they actually listen to the players.

Because d pad diagonals do a good enough job and it's a tradeoff to make it fit in the pocket better. Devices with dual sticks are nice when you're home, but one isn't going to "live in your pocket." Sometimes the best emulator is the one that's most convenient to always have on you.

I bought an Anbernic 35xx just for that era of games. But I can see your point: having a powerful emulation machine that CAN cover the controls of all consoles is the best bet.

the way the DS emulator detects screens is cause the DS assigns "main" and "sub" screens during games and I'm assuming the fullscreen option just fullscreens whatever screen is set to main

I've been on the fence for a long time about getting a retro handheld. I'm afraid that it's something I would buy, mess with, then never touch again. I already have loads of games to get to on my backlog as it is. I've already played a majority of retro games I wanted to play through emulation over the years, so a retro handheld is a novelty at best.

I haven't been interested in any other micro, and mini handhelds aside from the Miyoo Mini, and the plus. This seems like a nice mix between the two, with the Analogue Pocket's form factor. I'm still disappointed that the Analogue Pocket wasn't the same size as a Gameboy Pocket. Anyroad, might check this out in a few months.

10:40 the DS assigns it's more powerful graphics chip to only one screen at a time, so I'd wager the emulator uses that to assume which it should focus on.

With the Anbernic RG35XXSP you can press the power button while in games like N64 and dreamcast to switch DPAD to analog instead. Makes the anbernic a much better choice in stock emulation

There have been several miyoo killer contenders with better hardware than the mini plus. The one thing that's held them all back is the firmware. If one of these more powerful devices got a port of Onion OS or something identical it would be game over for miyoo.

You definitely gotta be a bit of an oddball to prefer this orientation compared to the controller esque horizontal orientation... Handhelds set up like a controller are FAR more comfy to hold than these tall Gameboy esque ones. AND you say you like clicky buttons vs ones that use rubber membranes? I take it you're not a very skilled gamer? Those are VERY odd preferences for what are all very much inferior configurations. For what the device is it does look pretty nice tho.
