If Don Henley cared about giving fans what they want - a true Eagles show - he’d call Don Felder, make peace, and invite him back. This tour feels more like “Henley & Co” than a true Eagles collaboration, and that is sad. It’s no way to go out the door, unless all you care about is taking all the money with you.

I would tell Don Henley if he asked that Don Felder took his rock guitar talent and lifted a great country rock band “The Eagles” and made them a legendary arena rock band. Don Henley owes EVERYTHING to Don Felder. Your idea is excellent and inviting Don Felder back is the answer to breathing life back into the Eagles. Making him an equal partner as well as Timothy and Joe would absolutely guarantee new music.

They could do a new album now if Henley was willing to collaborate. Vince may seem like an afterthought, but he is both one of the finest guitar players alive, as well as a world class songwriter. Henley/Gill could write one hell of a record if Don could get out of his own way.

I agree with you 100%, Michael! It also depends on the GREED of Henley! He is, NO DOUBT, the kind of fool who would say that he would rather have 90% of NOTHING rather than 50% (maybe) of SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!

Don Felder’s guitar made the Eagles. Joe Walsh is good but the band went to another level when Felder came on board. And people want to see Felder and Walsh dual it out one last time. It would make for a happier ending to the Eagles story.

Any new material put out by this current lineup would be a Don Henley solo record. I love the fact Deacon is in the band, but am disappointed he is not singing more. You can bring back Felder and Leadon, but it wouldn't be right to put out new Eagles music without Glen.

Love your suggestions. Don Felder coming back guarantees new music being relevant. Totally agree that Irv Azoff could get Don Felder back in the band. This situation is entirely fixable. I saw the Eagles in LA at the Nokia downtown in 2007 and the band was technically playing well but the excitement of performing live was gone. Long gone. The Dixie Chicks opened and were far more excited to play the show. The Eagles were going through the motions. I am a huge Don Henley fan so it’s hard for me to say the Chicks were better that night.

Don Henley is, or was, a fantastic lyricist and vocalist. One of the best in my opinion. However, as a human being, there are a few areas of his game that could do with a bit of work. Neither Henley, nor Frey came across well in their own documentary. The hubris on display for all to see was breathtaking. I suspect Henley will give no quarter. As for Felder. His book made a compelling case, supported (oddly enough) by the History documentary that he was treated poorly. At times he seems like he could/can be high maintenance - however, that seems to be pretty much a ticket for entry. In short. The Eagles were better for Felder being there. Both on vinyl, and on stage. But you won’t see him there again.

I would rather they bring back Leadon. He's the only other surviving Original Eagle. Felder would be nice as well, though he was not part of the original 4 who created such beautiful harmonies together. When Frey died they really needed to hang it up. It was his band. Gill was brought in to try to sing Meisner's parts, but nobody has Randy's voice, which was integral to the original Eagles sound.

You said it a while ago Michael, to be in a rock band you hafta have an ego. And during the Eagles heyday 1972-80 the egos were there but they still collaborated and got along well enough to create some fantastic music. But certainly in more recent years the egos have not only full-blown taken over, but the tours are little more than a money-making venture, which is sad n unfortunate. Rock on though!!

Team up with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr and call themselves The BEAGLES - it could work…. as you say Don plays front of stage so Ringo could easily fill the space. Think of the crossover mash ups in the shows… California Bungalow, Drive My Car In The Fast Lane, Tequila Sunshine… only joking but actually I think it would be a very interesting collaboration with a one off album for example. The Travelling Wilburys did it without shows and I believe The Beagles would be an interesting superrgroup . Perhaps worthy of a future episode to discuss and debate.Think of all the potential combinations…Pink Zeppelin, Black Purple, Steely Doobies, BadMott, Thin Foreigner and so on I bet if collaborations caught on and the existing members tuned into the idea then it could create a new revenue stream for them and for fans to experience something new if any of them were up to tours…😎👌any further suggestions?

In my honest opinion, The Eagles died.when Glenn Frey died. Don Henley is trying to keep it going but from what I've seen it's not the same. It's like a tribute band. Even Vince Gill gets tired of touring with them because he's got a HUGELY popular Country catalog of songs he performs on his own. Also, why are the tickets so high priced?!

The biggest shame is I doubt Don Henley would ever invite Don Felder back, also a phone call to Bernie Leadon to see if he wants in wouldn't go a miss. It is such a shame as I feel that there is potential for something akin to the Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds if he invited Felder and Leadon to be part of it. It also feels to me that Timothy B. Schmitt is really not appreciated as a singer, he has a great voice and could bring a lot more to the band(or Brand) if given the chance. Sadly though I think the Don Henley plan is to carry on a greatest hits tour until he can no longer do it.

I think Glenn Frey and Don Henley were on the same page when it came to the animosity with Felder. Henley will NEVER forgive Felder for the things that have been said over the years. But even with Felder in the band, it's still an Eagles review travelling band. It will never truly be the Eagles again without Glenn.

I know the Joe Walsh worshippers won't like this, but I've never been a huge fan of the Walsh-era Eagles. I remember my disappointment upon hearing in 1975 that Bernie Leadon was leaving the band because I knew it was "sayonara" to the acoustic/country vibe he brought to the band; the sound that got them noticed and through the first three albums, which I thought were masterpieces. I was a little let down with "One of These Nights," but it's still a good enough record. I was thoroughly disappointed with the entire "Hotel California" album, as well as "The Long Run." I thought "Long Road Out of Eden" was awful----my opinion ONLY. In the early years, despite the creative processes of Henley and Frey, the musical engine that first drove that band was the Leadon-Meisner combination. So, I'll just say it without arguing with anyone because it's a matter of taste. I always thought Walsh was a poor fit for the Eagles I'd come to love. I don't like his mush-mouth, Mickey Mouse voice, his costumes, or really anything else about his performing style. I'm sure he's a nice enough guy and got Henley and Frey the "rocker cred" they craved. But, I never thought "silly" fit too well with the Eagles. Still don't. Again, MY opinion only. I know there are legions of Walsh fans out there...

I totally agree with you. My very first big rock concert was the James Gang, in 1971. Sold out the huge Baltimore Civic Center with Walsh still in the band. Then came his solo career, loved loved loved his first record Barnstorm, then less love for his subsequent "sillier and sillier" stuff. Barnstorm was gorgeous, understated. Still a favorite of mine. Then he joined the Eagles??? He was already too much of a solo star, weird to have him singing with another group. Same with Timothy B. His Eagles songs sound too much like Poco. The Eagles were perfect before Felder joined, became less so when Bernie split, and definitely jumped the shark when Randy left. As for this Henley and Company production now touring as "The Eagles", well, he really ought to bring back Felder and Leadon to give some credence to this "final farewell". For the fans, Don. For the fans.

I appreciate you're desire to see these bands return to their former glory but unfortunately, the world has moved on. There is really no motivation for them to reform etc... any music that they would produce would not be profitable in the age of spotify, KZbin music, etc... also, they would get no support from radio. Corporate stations might play it once and then immediately return to hotel California, life in the fast lane, take it easy etc... in light of this, what motivation do they have to reform and start cranking out new records?

I don't think the Eagles could make another great all-new studio album. I didn't even like their "Long Road Out Of Eden" album all that much. Could they really do any better now, without Glenn Frey? I think their mid-2000's concert DVD/ Blu-Ray in Melbourne is pretty good. They were alright then as a touring band. Ultimately, the great songs they wrote and performed in the 1970's will be their legacy. What they're doing now on stage is just to keep the cashflow going, and to give newer fans a chance to see a version of the Eagles live. Having three former members is good enough for me, there's some who currently have no former members, yet they tour under the original group's name.

I said this before and will say it again, while don Henley IMO is mainly responsible for the Eagles success, he is just a bad guy. I've never read or heard one good thing about him. I watched an interview a few years ago with John . He said that when he first came to California he was a limo driver, and said that Henley was by far the worst celebrity that he had ever driven anywhere. He said that he berated him the entire time, and didn't have one good thing to say to him.

Sadly, that shipp had already sailed. Or in this band's case, that bird's already flown off the nest the day Glenn died. That and Henley's voice not sounding as good as it was before he had to start singing some songs in a lower key. Best he can do now is make amends with Felder before either Dons join Glenn & Randy.

In the long run (sorry) yes of course. Long after the artist is gone, the art remains. Future generations won't know or care about all the BS, they'll just care about the music. That's how The Eagles will ultimately be judged. As far as the rift between the Dons, probably not. When Henley referred to "Mr. Felder" in the documentary, that was real douche chill time. I think the time to bury the hatchet would have been after Frey passed.

Don't know what it is about Henley. Perhaps he is a good guy, I don't know, but geez, he comes off as one of the most awful and greedy band members possible. Way back to the Eagles Documentary when he kept calling Don Felder, MR. FELDER.. conspiring to get a larger piece of the pie than his other bandmates... I was a long time Eagle fan, and still love their music, but I really did get a sour feeling after watching Henley and Frey in the documentary. Now, with this touring cover band... it's just a sad legacy. I'm sure others love it all, but it's not for me any longer.

Michael's right; in an ethical and artistic context, what he suggests is what Eagles, Inc is best advised doing. BUT... our heroes have feet of clay like everyone else, and just as John Lennon's legacy includes beating his wife, neglecting his child, spectacular adulteries and more spectacularly embarrassing musical(and otherwise)statements, Henley owns the s*** he and Frey dished up to the people who made their music come alive and make them rich. I doubt that any of those considerations mean anything to him or his team, and I suspect Schmitt,Walsh, and the rest are there for the paycheck. Can't fault a man for wanting to accumulate a good estate for his family.

Guess what, he did Beatles, Wings, and "NEW" Material !! and his ticket prices were reasonable. To me Don old-Hen destroyed that band long a go for me. Shame, he's very talented, but an ass

Not if Henley has his way...if it were up to him no streaming, internet nor streaming services (like XM/Sirius), you would have to buy a record or cd and in a few years no one would even know they existed...oh, and the CDs would expire and have to be renewed...forgot that part... That is one greedy, unintelligent (when it comes to the internet and how to make money with it) mofo. Lose the Henley ego, and may be it might, but as it is now, nope does not stand a chance. And uh, at this point "The Chicks" are a better group...

Never really liked the Eagles and the California pretentiousness. What gets me the most is that most of their album sales are from Greatest Hits albums . That goes for Springsteen and Joel too., My band , Led Zeppelin are ina other class all together. Selling 40 million of IV with no writing or band ID on it .. That's a real ballsy band. The Eagles are very too polished for me and Henley and late Glenn Frey seemed like arrogant musicians. Sorry about the album sales rant. Greatest hits shouldn't count lol!!!
