Thanks for your great videos, a lot of time into this bike but worth it to know whats inside. Have an old K100 apart in the garage and my neighbour has a K75.

Great bike. I am just putting mine back into service after 16 year hibernation. New parts were fuel pump, pump suspension rubber and plastic mount, fuel filter, ALL hoses in and outside tank, filter screen, injector clean and tests, new battery, coming is new fuel pump relay and those two little tank c clip retainers. I am about to do the rear drive spline also, bike has 30,000kms since 1993. Owned from new. Love your bike and sounds.
@michaelovitch5 жыл бұрын
Thanks : ) New brake hoses is a necessity,and braided lines are a must,and cheaper than stock fuel lines,if you don't mind losing (quite heavy and useless) ABS. The C clips retainers are often removed as i understood,to prevent having more troubles in case of crash,if i remember the tank get punctured if it's attached : Chris Harris here on youtube did a video in wich he spoke about that. A new fuel pump relay is quite useless in my opinion,if the other one is working ,it worked only 30 000 kms,wich is little. I used a renault twingo fuel pump on my bike,wich was very cheap,used lol BMW prices for a pump a crazy,even the bosch model from a parts store is expensive.

@@michaelovitch Just looking back on your great vids. At the end of this one with the Peugeot. Quite apt as the K engine is a licence built Peugeot design. Do you still keep the K75? Just putting some new Lazertecs and a YSS shock on mine.

@@harrothepilot For sure i still have it : ) I have to change the clutch and rear main seal and other seals at the same time,i will film that.

Haha, I meant to say, I have only hit the rev limiter once in the lifetime of my K75S, but yours doesn't seem to worry at all with high revs. Two persons, panniers full and highish speeds it loves though!!

Do you still have your gendamerie K75? Haven´t seen a video about your bike for so long. Is any maintainance video planed?
@michaelovitch5 жыл бұрын
Yes,i still have it. I have the clutch to change,i realised it slipped a bit trying the bike on this parking lot ,and i plan on using a new fuel injection , Speeduino. I'm selling stuff,including scrap metal, to fund it lol So yes,few vids to come : )

Hi. I’m just recommissioning a k75 that I bought for not much money. Seems a great, smooth bike to ride!
@michaelovitch5 жыл бұрын
Yes it is : ) I did some figure 8 within a really tiny space on this parking,lock to lock handle bar without problems. The engine is really smooth ,the whole bike is really good.

@@michaelovitch late comment, but when I locked the handle bars of my K75 to the left it snapped the clutch cable and I ran into a parked car 🤦♂️
@michaelovitch Жыл бұрын
@@unclenumbs Was the cable worn out or its location is incorrect between moving parts ?
@unclenumbs Жыл бұрын
@@michaelovitch I think it was improperly located because when I turned there was too much tension on it. It also could've been worn. The new one shouldn't have the issue since I strung it through a little different to avoid it having tension
@michaelovitch Жыл бұрын
@@unclenumbs Good,get the tnsion and te free play correct,or the clutch will not last long if it's slipping. It's a dry clutch,so it will burn fast. Are you hurt ?

Half of a BMW inline 6. BMW has never made a V6 before.

Actually, the K series engine is a Peugeot design, and was the 104 . BMW built it by arrangement with Peugeot. It's a great engine and tough as old boots.

Can you send me what I need to grease the spline front and back?
@michaelovitch7 жыл бұрын
The manual is in french,,but the schematics are not lol To do that,you need to : 1-remove the wheel. 2-remove the wheel hub assembly (4 screws and the speedo wire) 3-remove the drive shaft housing/swingarm : one nut on one side,one pin on the other. 4-remove the drive shaft,/clean/grease (molybdene grease,or graphite grease) 5-reinstall the drive shaft /clip it by pushing it on the gearbox. 6-reinstal the rest. You can directly remove the drive shaft without removing its housing,clean it /grease it and reclip it in place by guiding it well straight on the gearbox splined shaft. : )

Be sure to check all intake soft components : boots,piping etc... To be sure it's not running lean,and destroy the valves. What model did you buy ? mileage ?
@izman207 жыл бұрын
michaelovitch k75c 1987 27,000miles I replaces a gasket under the gas tank. It was leaking gas. So I got the bike for 1000 dollars. The components in the tank were rusty so I rinsed and vacuumed the tank out. Changed the fuel filter to. Going to put a new screw in under the filter. About to do an oil change. I was about to start but I didn't have am extension to fit the oil filter tool. After that I plan to add oil to the final drive and one other place. I want to then do a coolant flush. I'm having a hard time figuring out the wiring. Needs indicators. Also I'm going to put a custom seat on it.
@izman207 жыл бұрын
Also I know that there is a hose that is starting to crack...its behind the air box. Where do you start parts? I order from euromotoelectrics.com
@michaelovitch7 жыл бұрын
It's the hose for oil vapors from the cranckcase. it's typical on this bike. Check the intake boots too. I've bought my parts directly at a bmw motorcycle dealer,by mail.(I'm in France) they quote,i send a check with shipping costs included. Just ask them to quote for you,and compare with other sellers. look here for parts numbers : www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select

You need to grease the drive shaft both ends too,if never done( since it has low mileage i'm sure i was not) I can send you the wiring diagram if you want. i have the manual.

You did a good job? was the engine worn before you rebuilt it?
@michaelovitch7 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The three exhaust valves were shot,with one wich missed a piece,there was no compression in one cylinder. It was running too lean i think. I've bought new exhaust valves and it was surfaced in a machine shop. The block is good,good even compression on three cylinders in the high side of the values. It's not eating oil,running good. It's ok now : )
@jaggass7 жыл бұрын
Was genuine BMW parts used?
@michaelovitch7 жыл бұрын
Yes : exhaust valves ,all valves seals,pcv hose,intake boots new from BMW. The exhaust valves were very expensive compared to what it would cost for a car.

i thought that only doggies have cold noses lol. Well that goes when you give it the beans, but what is that variable pitch whining noise, is it a timing chain tensioner thats too hard a composition?. Sorry but im not a big bike man, so forgive my stupid question :-( Ahh doggie, come for some fuss :-D
@michaelovitch7 жыл бұрын
Questions are rarely stupid,it's more likely strong affirmations most of the time lol The whining is the balance shaft and cranckshaft gears working together. They are straight cut gears ,so they make some noise,like on the rear gear on cars : ) There is a balance shaft because it's a 3 cylinders engine,with uneven angularly distributed rotating parts. It's very ,very smooth to use,it's a pleasure to drive. www.bmbikes.co.uk/photos/mechanicalphotos/K75%20eng%20cutaway.jpg The chain tensionner is actuated by the oil pressure. You install it locked with a pin,or an allen key,you remove the lock and it expand thanks to a spring. The tension adjustment is done by the oil pressure wich pushes the tensionner piston,to lock it on the next notch, if the chain is loosening a bit. This crazy girl was cold with a warm nose,and we were cold with a leaky cold nose : )
@zx8401ztv7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for discribing that :-D, it sounds a much more complicated setup than the simple machines i had. Yes i suppose 3 pistons would be a bit odd, and i do remember that slant cut gears are smoother, but i didn't think too deep. That's me the shallow thinker :-D. But none of that matters, it's going well and you seem very happy :-D Just be carefull on it, i don't like people getting injured :-(
