really enjoyed this series on the isomorphisms. Be aware views, that the definition of well defined can be found in his video on coset equality. In particulalr the crucial step that g1H = g2H => g1g2^-1 belongs to H.

1st isomorphism theorem does it need be onto homomorphism?

A homomorphism does not need to be onto/surjective to use the first isomorphism theorem. The first isomorphism theorem gives you an isomorphism with the image/range of the homomorphism. However, if a homomorphism is onto/surjective, then the image/range is the whole codomain. So in practice, to show that a quotient group G/N is isomorphic to another group H, one will take a group homomorphism from G to H with kernel equal to N and which is surjective/onto.
