You're the only person who I've seen who has pointed out that the driving force/source behind a great deal of ENTJ desire to 're-order' the world is because of the Fi based drive. If things aren't optimised, it means that people or animals or whatever else are suffering, and if that can be fixed, it should be immediately. I experience it almost as a continuous comparison between the world, which is deconstructed by Te, and my internal Fi 'template'. And the 'deposed' Emperor' analogy is eerily accurate.

Im an ENTJ female, and i find female entjs to be even more rare. Hard to find people i can relate to. I can be harsh but the people and things i love, theres no greater love. Definitely gooey mush on the inside with barbed wire and a suit of armor wrapped around that.

@@user-ep4jo1ev3j lol yeah, I have a small group of friends that I love whole heartily and I am a VERY affectionate person (pda and joke constantly). They understand and acknowledge my ways of thinking and why I am the way I am, can stimulate my positive feelings and help me calm my negative ones. In return, because I'm not good with emotions and stuff, I help them with my services and lend/ give them what they need as long as I'm not disadvantaged by it too much. But my parents say that I'm act and speak cruel, curt, don't soften any of it, and have only a few friends because of it, ugh. They think that I should be more accepting and kind with my words. I don't really mean any harm and I don't use cuss words when I criticize something, but I do use harsh and undeniable facts when I do it, that's why I seem cruel lol. Combined with my dark humour and shitposts, I'm really grateful to find friends that are like minded.

@@dhritiseth6104 I dress femininely. Most of the time, I speak with a soft tone. I take care of my body, face and hair rigorously. And I behave quite feminine. I just speak blatantly, curtly, harshly and don't sugarcoat things when I am in my working mode, but I keep my tone light, compliment people on what they do the best and how to utilize it, make unique expressions when expressing and explaining what I want us to achieve and fix, and make small jokes to keep the atmosphere and hearts light, tension will hinder productive and rational thinking, but not too much, they'll lose focus. I also like to share dark humor and shitpost with my close friends. So, don't think of yourself so harshly when you are doing what is right for you and for others. You can always better yourself whenever you want and need to. Being an ENTJ is being adaptable and rational. You can do it.

This is so accurate, it's not even funny. I actually thought I was an INTJ because many times in social situations I was very quiet however if my interest was peaked in the slightest way, you couldn't shut me up, in fact I'd dominate the conversation. ENTJ here. So true about the math example. My grade school teachers would make us read books alongside the class or the teacher would read them aloud and we had 15 pages or so of reading for homework assignments, but I would take the book home and read it all in a night and I started getting punished because I was already reading our next book instead of participating in the read along with the class (I would hide the new books I was reading within the book the class was reading as to not get caught). Eventually, my teacher gave up on getting me to slow down, because I just didn't understand why everyone else didn't go ahead and read the book as well. It seemed efficient to me.

A lot of it is practicality and purpose. If by dressing up and giving myself a favorable appearance to others that will in turn benefit me, then it makes sense. Otherwise ENTJs don’t care about dressing just for the sake of dressing like say an ESTP would and their similar nature to us can confuse others about how ENTJs truly are

My INFP husband tells me often that my problem is that I take on everyone else’s values and try to be better at their values than they are themselves. Instead of adopting my own set of values and honing those, I hear of how effective one person is implementing their value in life and assume, “Sounds good - I’ll take that value of yours, thank you very much. . . and while we are on the subject, I’ll be better at it, too” - ENTJ.

Ooh I was actually trying to explain this to my INFP friend, I take Te input from others, if it passes the logic check and I like the idea, it gets integrated into my moral framework. From time to time I have to verify whether or not it's a value worth keeping which usually requires either something to blow up in my face or intentional isolation and pondering.

You hit the nail right on the head here in a way you didn't in the first video, which emphasized more of our troublesome aspects. I enjoyed the video very much. I'm an ENTJ, and I think you pretty much nailed it. I have a few comments that might be helpful illustrations of what you've said. For the following comments to make sense, you should know that I'm a Christian, and that being a Christian is the most important thing in my life. 1. I agree with your assessment of ENTJs and philosophy. For myself, it serves two main ends: first, it was the main tool I used to "verify" Christianity. I grew up as a Christian, but I had some major doubts about it: I wasn't sure if it was logically coherent due to the problem of evil, and I wasn't sure if there was enough justification for believing in God, Jesus, or the truth claims of Christianity. The progress took over a year, and in some sense it continues even today. But I have studied philosophy for hours upon hours -- epistemology, morality, metaphysics, and philosophy of religion -- just because I wanted to get this right. And secondly, now that I'm more sure of my beliefs, philosophy continues to serve me as a tool for knowing how to interact with others. I want others to see the truth of Christianity, and for me, philosophy is a tool -- a common language -- that I can use to interact with them. 2. You might ask why figuring out the truth of Christianity was so important. That relates to my Te, Ni, and Fi. I wanted to find something true (Te) that could give me a big vision for my life (Ni) so I could know how to help people (Fi), and once I found it, I wanted to structure my life around it (Te). As far as I see it, the most helpful thing I can do is to help others come to God. That's the Fi in me -- it's the soft part of me that weeps for those who don't know God. It leads to a vision (Ni) and relentless planning and working to help others (Te). 3. As for Se and dressing nice, I am actually quite a slob in my appearance. Now, when I do dress up, I dress up very well and I enjoy the grandeur of it. But for me, it just seems inefficient to spend so much time on my appearance. People have told me that I have a very strong presence ("larger than life"), even though I also am not very socially extroverted. I also relate to the idea that ENTJs often want to both do great things and live as if they have done great things. I want my achievements to be recognized; I'm honestly a bit embarrassed at how much I feel a need at times to be validated by others. Those are about all my thoughts on this video for now. Have you analyzed death? It would trouble me to believe in an organized religion while simultaneously knowing the roots and many holes of logic. I'm curious how an ENTJ can deal with this if not just on blind faith.

I can't speak for Charlie, but for me, it takes less faith to believe in a designer. Structure is everywhere, and even infinite amounts of time alone is not enough for intelligence to occur spontaneously. I find it takes greater faith to believe there isn't a designer based on observations of reality -- the concept of irreducible complexity is a good example. Recognizing design and structure came from a source, who designed it? I believe the Judeo-Christian God of the bible designed it. There are many things which separate Christianity from all other religions. Chief among them is the very anti-religious message of Jesus. The Christian church often gets this wrong, but Jesus was very anti-establishment when it came to legalism. He and the apostles knew true obedience and surrender comes from relationship, not rules. My God is a God of intimacy and relationship. No other God in any religion I am aware of calls all people to him. Christianity is set apart. I really hope you're able to look past some of the messengers and evil doers who abuse the name of God and take a look at it from a fresh lens, and contextualize scripture based on the circumstances of the time it was written. You will be surprised.

Bring overly strict on myself? LMAO yeah When I suddenly feel disappointed with myself for no apparent reason, I usually start to imagine the probabilities of my ruined future and how it will affect the people I care about and my self-worth. I'd be untrustworthy, I'd be a humiliation, I'd be a waste of time, energy and money for my parents, I'd lose my authority and placement on whatever and whoever I had maintained. Sometimes, I'd over think these things and suddenly burst out in tears, crying uncontrollably and inconsolable (after crying, I usually instantly feel indifferent again and continue my work). Sometimes, I overwork myself that I have to consciously remind myself and tell myself to sleep when my vision becomes hazy and headaches came, to eat when I don't feel hungry but I can hear my stomach rumble and the clock states it's past break time, to interact with people when I noticed it's night time already and all I've been doing is being in my room doing my work. And now I've developed short sleep syndrome, and I can survive sleeping only 4 hours a night and waking up not feeling sleepy or lacking in energy at all. I don't even feel hatred or disdain towards studying and going to school, I don't mind studying and love studying the subjects I'm interested in and the ones that I will need to learn for the benefit of my future. I just hate that we have to abide by rules that won't be necessary or have any relations to developing a great mind. If it's a schoolday, I'd drink a glass of coffee and bring a bottle of each coffee and water. I'm used to compare my results to others, when I get lower grades, I'd be dissapointed in myself and quickly make an answer key for my wrong answers. When I study, I screen through the main points and jot down my version of explanation. And my results are usually above average and above the minimal passing score (my school's passing score is 75/100). I just hope I can pass uni with better grades and GPA. I really want to have the best achievement record, cv, references, and portfolio to have a high paying and high position respectable job.

I Disagree with your comment regarding Te vs Ti in maths between yourself and Issac. As an ENTJ, when taught something I do not inherently know in a class room environment where there is no extroverted environment for me to examine, I MUST be taught step by step A to B to C to D and if a single step is missing, it would not make sense to me. I believe that Ti on the other hand is capable of crafting his/her own theories and thus I believe you mixed Ti and Te up in the scenario and they should be reversed in a class room setting.

Hi Mike, I agree with your disagreement, I made a similar comment just now. I think the problem is that he compares a very low lv Ti(INFJ Ti) use with a type that does things primarily with intuition but still has some decent Te. As an Ti dom, I didn't relate to his use of Ti, but I did recognize Ti, however, it was a very rudimentary form of Ti. It would have been better to compare Ti as used by Ti doms and Te as used by Te doms. I did get what he wanted to say, but his example poor and highly subjective.

I'm an ENTJ and don't identify as "professional, suave, classy, or epicurean", so there's an exception to every rule. It's like someone commented we "love to take pride in how they look when they want to look good and presentable. Otherwise they can come off looking slobbish as they do not really care how they look if there's no "point" or reason to look presentable." I have such utilitarian values that hedonism and refinement take a back seat to getting things done. A point you made last time I didn't see in this video was our preference for real time problem solving.

Sorry Rhys, I completely forgot to respond to this as I received the notification whilst busy with other things. It's a tough one, truth be told. Looking back at how I was as a child (well, between the ages of ~ 7 - 21, so quite a gap) I'd have to assume that yes, I am an E. I think my upbringing and various life lessons learned along the way have made it fairly easy for me to shift into Ni; I can quite happily remain immersed in my inner-world if needs be. However, I tend to be happiest when I'm achieving things here in the real world. I enjoy group gatherings (and in fact used to organise a lot of them) rather than 1 on 1 interactions - even though I do obviously derive some enjoyment from them. I have also noticed of late that, during said 1 on 1 interactions, I tend to talk the hind legs off the other party. For example, my closest friend (INTP) is in a long term relationship with an INFJ (both have been professionally typed just as I have). I can have a fantastic time with either of them in a 1 on 1 capacity, but they burn out long before I do. I tend to be energised by good social interaction - only shitty social interaction drains me, but that is the norm for everyone I guess. Although I don't get to do it much these days, I did used to derive a lot of energy from night life, too. I very much enjoyed the 'electric air' - the humdrum of people going about their lives. Even observing from the sidelines would energise me. Being in the middle of it all (which I often was) would energise me further. In fact, I was referred to as 'the life of the party' many times when younger. I tend to be far less brash in adulthood, though. I've been too blunt with people too often and have long since realised that there are consequences to every action. For example, I learned the hard way back at 19 years of age that, in general, it's a tremendously poor idea to question the competence of a superior, then progress on to telling them to go and fuck themselves. That, plus many other examples (personal and professional) have seen me adopt a somewhat meeker / milder approach these days. I don't really think this has been a healthy thing, though - I lost my balance somewhere along the way, and now I have to get it back. Bleh. I could ramble on for ages. The TL;DR is that yes, I think it's highly probable I'm an ENTJ... but what is life if not a journey that knocks and bends you in and out of shape? It's all a lesson. The best bet is to ensure oneself is constantly challenged and always bringing your A game to the table. Grow. Develop. Age. Then, suck it and see.

Do you have any update to this? I recently learned, not unlike you, that I was in fact not an Introvert, but an extrovert. The more I've studied my personality type and the like, the better I feel about myself, and the more confident I get. Now, I have to hold myself back again, and I've lost a lot of the restraint that I once had, because I've sort of had it with, for a lack of a better word, 'Snowflakes'. Did you ever get a normalization, or is it just something one has to be aware of and work on constantly? Because I do feel a lot better now, as I am certain you do too.

But after detailed analysis I realized that my introverted behavior and attitude is a product of my nurture rather than of my nature.

This video is very comprehensive. Thanks for the dedication and time you very obviously put into this, it helps me understand myself quite a bit more and clears up certain aspects of my thought processes. I have to say as an ENTJ with my blind spot being SI I really do have a deep longing to truly understand myself even more so than the outside world, the outside world is actually very easy to understand for me because I'm (for the most part) always unbiased in my approach to the uncertain so I seek to understand things hoping it will bring me some conclusion about my own self. Suave and successful is how I want to be perceived as an ENTJ yes, lol. I also really enjoy wearing things that show off something I love in a way that only other people that know of that thing would understand i.e. A shirt with a logo of a game on it that has no text, a phone case depicting an image of something from a book or movie I adore, or a keychain of a favorite superhero's symbol.

I don't really like dressing up much -- and rarely overdress on a regular day -- but when I do dress formally, I feel good about it. i discovered what an entj was a couple months ago and that i was one. I've been looking more into it since. This is the most accurate and detailed description of why i do and think the way i do. Its just so unfortunate that only entjs (maybe also intjs) think this way and that they are so few. I cant seem to convince other types to take control of some particular thing because im the only one that sees it as a problem that can be addressed. Another thing is i see myself as being in a competition with everyone but they dont seem to know that they are in the competition which is mostly just disappointing. Ill be looking for other entjs who seem to get it. Its nice that entjs arent much interested in hiding. Im much more inclined to listen to what an entj (or similar type) has to say.

Great video! As an ENTJ I can relate very well with everything you explained. It's interesting how you note that ENTJs have a tendency to be Epicurean but also to seek existential meaning in life. As an ENTJ myself, I believe that the drive towards Epicureanism is somewhat of a duty felt by ENTJs after accepting the proposition that morality is relative and humans only have one life to live. I also believe, though, that this Epicurean philosophy, as you describe, often leads ENTJs into existential crises. Recently I have been reading a lot about existential philosophy and have found peace in the concept of "existence preceding essence." Victor Frankl discusses how humans develop in three stages-first driven by biological drives, then psychological drives, and, finally, by existential drives. As hardcore pragmatists, I believe that ENTJs are the best versions of themselves after they have surpassed their Epicurean "phase"-if it may be termed that. Thanks again for the video. As an ENTJ, I recall I was in a college physics class and asked the professor whether it's cosine or sine times the angle for vectors, if I remember correctly. He drew the whole trig wheel and took an hour explaining it, which I already knew in a much more attenuated sense. He asked me, after his hour long diatribe, if I understood. I told him that I just wanted to know whether it was cosine or sine times the angle: he capitulated and I can't remember which one now. I was boggled by why we had to waste an hour of not just our time, but the rest of the class to answer the question. I don't care about knowing it like him (physics/astronomy major), I just want to know what I need to know to slog through to get through the class.

Just a few months ago I didn't know what the hell my type was or even something like the MBTI assessment existed. Saw a few things here and there but as I do with almost everything that doesn't immediately seem useful, I tune out. Wish I hadn't, though. A friend of mine got an assessment done and learned she was INFJ. She studied up on what that meant and learned why she thinks and responds the way she does. She used that to catapult herself forward in her goals as she now knew how to work with herself instead of against. I noticed the changes and inquired and she explained it all to me. NOW this all had a purpose and could be used to make a real change so I dove it. Took a free test online and got ENTJ. Me being me, I was sceptical and took nine more for an even ten to get better percentages of the results. I got the same result eight times and ESTJ twice, which was within my allowable margin for error. The types are close and I do have only a slight preference for N vs S. Still, I wanted to KNOW with empirical certainty so I paid to have an official MBTI instrument assessment done. I got results even more heavily favoring ENTJ. The assessment administrator told me this type was extremely rare, which might explain why I felt... not alone, per se, but... apart. No one else in my family is an ENTJ. And they all tend to think I am blunt to the point of being rude (I never intend to be) and overwhelming. Now I know why... I do differ in the standard model in some ways. I am very particular in some regards to organization, in like how I write my notes and I get frustrated when others don't just get to the point in a conversation, but I do not organize every little thing. I structure my notes strictly and I do make plans for most important things, but my room is often a mess and I do not list out or schedule every moment or even most of every day. I also do not just jump into every crowd and try to be the "life of the party" but if put there I do do well. I don't have to lead or manage everything but I certainly can. I DO have to manage myself very well though. So by differing in these ways, does that mean the assessments are wrong in some way? Can there be a selectively organized ENTJ or one that only makes himself the "life of the party" if he has to or there is a reason to? Standard ENTJ are said to HAVE to lead and WANT to control but I am neither. I can do so without feeling discomfort but I do not seek it out much except in regards to myself. I have exhaustively read the broadest descriptions on all the types and the constituent components and I have to admit ENTJ fits best, even over ESTJ, but not completely. ENTJ are said to have extreme confidence and are very bold. Again I can easily be these things but they aren't always default. I make bold moves when doing so is wise and all my information encourages the action and I am confident I can learn and do anything I put my mind to, but I do doubt myself sometimes even as I am conquering whatever it was I had doubts in being able to accomplish at the time. Like learning to trade successfully in the stock market. I kept doubting I could time trades right or learn the fine nuances of the exchanges even as I was doing it. This always goes away after I succeed in my goals, but it is always there the next time and has to be smashed through. Can someone shed some light on this for me? Either on here or even email me at [e-mail]. Oh and another point... I do NOT dress in manner to impress or project. I really could not care less about that. I do project a bit in other ways though. Explaining my lofty goals, proving I am knowledgeable, showing I am not afraid to conquer things (usually fear by example and siting my love of climbing and skydiving as examples). Maybe it is the same thing but a different medium? Not sure. Looking for feed back.

Correct facts/knowledge are exacly that, correct and with that absolutely sufficient. But, even as an INTJ i can see your point about understanding it. I remember often learning a new math topic in school, and the first few lessons i just crushed it and it seemed so easy, then always after like a week when just doing the calculations wasn't fun anymore i just wanted to get into it and understand it..... whenever i did that i got fucked up by thousands of unnessecary details which conflicted with the actual goal and it always wrecked my actual pretty good understanding of something, so then i had to actually painfully learn it for like 1-2 weeks until my Ni got a total handle on it and i could do it in my sleep.

This is such a great video, I laughed at myself a few times. A quick note on the Se point about dress-sense: Initially I was really confused by this point until I realized that it depends entirely on how you personally define success. I don't own a car anymore and cycle a lot, and for me this manifests as always dressing in a manner that suggests I have a mastery over being prepared for anything and dealing with the lifestyle I have. It is success in the sense that it projects the idea that I am capable and effective at living car free. It may be relentlessly casual (I don't own a collared shirt other than what I wear to work) but walking around a bar in cycling shoes with a big backpack of stuff achieves what you're talking about. I'd say your observation is spot on! Just wanted to share what that meant to me after a little head scratch before I joined the dots. Thanks for the video!

Tony robbins is an ENTJ And he is very much in touch with his Fi. His whole business ist about helping people. I have come to know quite a few ENTJs that are very loving people, although they dont use their feeling function a lot, thats not what love is all about.

Regarding the storytime: I'm an INFP and I've always had a similar issue with maths as you described here. I was annoyed when I couldn't see _why_ they were doing something that wasn't evidently logical to me. I would often stop and slowly go though every step to understand exactly how it was logically consistent, and I would refuse to continue until it made sense to me. I'm just wondering; do you think inferior Te can look like Ti in this way?

He brought the concept up a couple times, but didn't come right out and say it. Just like the INTJ in this video, I was at least several grades ahead in math during grade school, and an after-school counselor of mine even introduced me to algebra when I was eight. Thinking with numbers felt natural. I also had trouble when it came to showing my work like the INTJ in this video.

Interesting! You obviously have a very high aptitude here. I always struggled to understand the application and implications of what I was doing. This made geometry much more satisfying and easier for me to understand. The numbers finally changed something tangibly and I felt a little more free to play around and experiment. I never would have said it then, but approaching most math learning with word problems may have helped me immensely to understand the relevance. Anyway, English, psychology, and computers were my jam.

Joel Rankin My best friend is and ENTJ and I myself am an INFJ. If I have any advice for you it is this: When they say something deep, a philosophical statement or a unique observation of the world, try to listen and not dismiss it immediately because you are used to seeing the 'rational' side of the world a majority of the time, try to see the idealistic side and try to understand it. Listen to them and they will greatly appreciate it, ask them questions about the things they are interested in, do not be so pushy and commanding all the time, sometimes we need it, but also remember to remain open minded and not so stubborn. Last but not least, most INFJs aren't good at expressing their emotions (at least guys) which is strange because they understand others emotions more than them at times, their understanding of their own runs very deep and they feel intensely, so when they DO speak of their emotions or state a very emotional statement, try to seem interested and caring.

I agree with the said advice, sorry I don't check KZbin as much as I should. I think the biggest issue between me and the entj I dated was my inability or reluctancy to stand up for myself when I should have with him. entjs are button pushers- he in particular- so it felt like he was always testing my boundaries. he would get bored with my seemingly complacent behavior and couldn't quite grasp the idea that maybe you don't always have to stand up or fight for your beliefs particularly if the hot pointy words are intended to just get under your skin. he would go as far as publicly ridiculing me or trying to make me feel extremely upset in vulnerable situations in, I assume, an attempt to 'break' me. I would always ignore it in public then approach him privately about it, whatever the case he just seemed happy that I was affected by his behavior and afterwards had enough respect to stop until he felt 'neglected' again... I.e. didn't give him that mental stimulation he needed. in hind site maybe if we wanted it to work we would have taken up more hobbies together. I can see a relationship between an infj and an entj working beautifully but you both need to put forth that effort to meet in the middle. that's what broke us apart... that and lack of communication and lies. I still think of him fondly and respect the man he is trying to become and I know he feels the same way. we never argued or even had to explain our aspirations and in that sense we were extremely supportive and protective of each other. we will always have a mutual soft spot for each other but it was best for us both to go our own separate ways.

Yay! Glad you liked it. As for your question: that would certainly be the conclusion I would draw, and intended to draw. As I understand it -- and you'll have to let me know if it jives with you -- the INFP does in the end want Te dominance and control (as described in this video), but never at the *expense* of Fi. It's an attempt at synthesis between Fi and Te, where one is already familiar to the type. So the INFP tries to become more and more in touch with their values as a way of accomplishing goals in a Te way. If you've seen the Kierkegaard video, you'll see this as a subtle theme of his: he encourages one to make an Fi "leap of faith" in order to *accomplish* one's dreams, even though ultimately the Fi way of living is more important. Hope that helps...? Ideas are still a work in progress.

Jeez, that 4 min mark is a good representation of one of my character traits. Generally, I have a very good understanding of technical machinery and have a good intuition on the Blackbox theory of input and output, but I quickly lose interest if you throw a paper at me with all kinds of intricate details of the machine, i.e. I quickly lose interest if I don't see any direct applicability in my life or work.
