Killer work, bud! Love the images at 13:30. Both are wonderful, but I prefer the one with the sky. I like the balance, and the gradient of lighter and lighter tones. This video inspires me to revisit my own folder of images from that amazing afternoon, and it's inspired me to maybe do a little bit more vlogging as well. Really been enjoying these videos.

From the moment you posted the first image of the 3 people, I had determined to post a comment saying it was my favorite. But then you showed us the 2nd image of the 3 people which was an absolute BANGER and by far my fave of the lot. I also find it interesting that you mention rarely shooting in vertical orientation at the dunes. I shoot vertical quite a lot and I find that it's outstanding in situations where there's a lot of depth and layering. Like at the dunes for example.

Planning to go there next week for a day in a half with the dunes being on top of the list. Never been in the dunes so it should be fun, Love your videos they are definitely inspiring for amateur photographers and videographers

You really struck "gold" and "gold dust" on these Michael! I think I like the more minimal one without the sky as, sticking with my theme, it seems a little "richer" in color if that makes sense. But truly, I like so many of these including the ones with the photographers that gives scale and a story. Oh, and I was expecting Josh to blow the sand off the chip he dropped and picked up. I might have!! Lovely video.

Of the two dune shots at 13:00, I like them both but I'm more drawn to the one with the sky cropped out. The image with the sky works as a traditional landscape. But without the sky, you get an abstraction that's all about luminosity and line, rather than a depiction of a specific place or object. I guess it's the painter in me that is drawn to minimalist abstractions. I presume those are the disparate aspects of the composition that you spoke of?

Mindblowing stuff, congratulations on those wonderful captures. My two cents on the image with the horizon vs without the horizon: while I love the abstract nature of the more cropped composition, I love how the more pulled-back image conveys an entire world that exists beyond the frame. Almost an uncharted planet kind of feeling. And I also adore your vertical shot with the three figures in the distance. The way the light wraps around them and slightly blows out the details of the shape helps to abstract them slightly, allowing for more of an interpretation of their motivations. Love it man, keep up the amazing work.

Spectacular, what an enjoyable video. I like the images where you can't see the sky, at 14:05, I prefer the one on the right. However, the image with the three photographers in silhouette I believe is my favorite overall (second composition) as I like the story it tells of people sharing spectacular moments with friends and colleagues.
@tilikumtim55622 жыл бұрын
Awesome photos. I'd be interested to see what a wide angle shot would look like with the camera low down to get close up view of the patterns in the sand. Maybe that would just make the dunes look too far away and take away their grandeur.
