I bought these wheels! My Herman Miller is already expensive AF. I some how thought that having an expensive chair must mean that it had expensive or high quality wheels? I swapped these out and it just felt better. I don't really know how to explain it. I love my stealtho wheels and i even put them on my shelves in my garage. THIS WAS A GAME CHANGER! Especially on the shelves that is loaded with heavy shit... the wheels that they come with just can't do what the Stealtho's do. The factory wheels on the shelf would just not move or roll because it couldn't handle the weight I guess? The Stealtho's do not have this issue! I even roll them around on different "terrains" like little rugs and turf!

Bearing engineer here. ABEC has nothing to do with speed, higher ABEC numbers equate to tighter tolerance bands for the ID, OD, and Width, it does not affect inner geometry or surface finish. ABEC 9 is a waste of money if the shaft and housing cannot be kept to the same extremely tight tolerance range.

Not making sure that all the components in a critical path are of compatible tolerance ranges is actually under-engineering. Putting DLP led headlamps on a kids bicycle is not over-engineering. It's being wasteful.

FYI - Anodizing is a process used on Aluminum. Although it is technically possible to anodize steel, in practice it isn't done. That steel is most likely powdercoated.

Ive used “upgraded” casters before similar to the amzn example. What is crucial is that the change negative caster isn’t so great that it torques the spider too much. This matters more for the heavier individuals who spends a lot of time on their chair. And if the floor does not allow for easy rolling, then it will accelerate wear on the spider and will likely deform or break near the attachment point. Ive had many spiders fail because of this change in critical dimension as compared to the default rollers.

The thing is was it really over engineered or is it that it's designed properly with longevity in mind. I was fascinated that these type of companies ensures longevity of their product rather than creating something good enough and they know that will break soon so they can buy it again. And i recommend adding some lube on the ball bearing for smoother roll and minimise wear and tear

I have been using Stealtho wheels for almost 2 years and I 100% recommend them, but there is one thing Stealtho needs to work on and it's unfortunately why I'm forced to go with a different brand on my new Haworth Fern (skip to the bad if you don't want to read me ramble through what I like about the wheels.) First, the good: The wheels look and feel noticably higher quality than any of the other rollerblade style wheels I've tried for all of the reasons you mentioned in this video. And I LOVE that mine lock, which is not a common feature on rollerblade casters. The locks aren't just there to check a box, either. They have a nice soft touch coating, their shape makes them easy to press with your foot, and they lock with a satisfying snap. They are as well-designed as the rest of the wheel. Next, the indifferent: Does the overengineering make a substantial difference in durability and performance or is it mostly just marketing? Honestly... probably the latter more than the former. But there is something something to be said for the appearance of quality. And Stealtho's pricing is right in line with their competitors, it's not like you're paying more for them (in some cases you're actually paying less.) No reason not to value premium quality when it comes without a premium price tag. Also the glow-in-the-dark wheels are... neat? Let's be honest, the cool factor comes from the blue wheels, not the fact that they (sort of) glow in the dark. Lastly, the bad: This isn't a knock on the wheels themselves (which are great, as established), but there is one thing keeping me from using Stealtho wheels on my new Haworth Fern, and it's ironically the same thing that originally drew me to them: the color. The wheels looked incredible on my blue gaming chair with matte black frame and orange accents. They clash completely on my Ember Orange Haworth Fern with a frame that is a mixture of white and polished aluminum. It's a silly grip, I know, but I didn't spend this much on an absolutely gorgeous chair just to ruin the look with clashing wheels. I don't need Stealtho to go completely crazy with the colors, but some options besides "black frame with black wheels" or "black frame with blue wheels" would be appreciated. Something as simple as a matte gray or white paint job on the frame-or a niced brushed steel to contrast with the tacky chrome most cheap silver wheels use-with gray or white wheels would go a long way (I'd kill for orange wheels, but I'm not holding my breath.) It would also set them apart because the very few white or silver wheels with locks that exist use black locks and it looks cheap. That could help further cement Stealtho as a step above all the other rollerblade style office chair wheels out there. Just something for Stealtho to consider in case they stumble upon this (or if you happen to pass it along to them.)

I'm pretty sure I know why the ball bearings are on the top while the plastic bearing thing is on the bottom: the surface between the bottom of the stem and the top of the caster mounting fork is where the load is carried. The bottom side of that mount does not hold the load. Certain types of plastics are self-lubricating, but not load-bearing. Ball bearings have load ratings, so you can save money by only having them on the load-bearing surface. The stealtho casters with the caged bearings increase stiffness, spread the load out more effectively, decrease deflection, and therefore increase the lifespan of the caster SIGNIFICANTLY.
@aayotechnology
@aayotechnology 3 ай бұрын
That’s true in an ideal world when rolling on a perfectly flat surface, but when one rolls over a height change the bottom bearings would come into effect. Also forces would be applied at the bottom whenever the stem slightly skews from vertical. If there’s any play in how the stem is held for instance, that would create forces underneath.
@spdcrzy

@@aayotechnology still, the vast majority of the load is carried by the top surface.

I bought a pair of these but ended up returning because of one major design flaw. Each of these casters are a single wheel, instead of the split design of normal casters. In addition, the wheels are offset from their mount by too much. These two issues result in the casters locking up ENTIRELY under any lateral pressure. If you try to move in a direction that the casters are not already facing, your chair will halt completely. Sometimes even so intensely that your other wheels tilt off the ground. Great set otherwise

I have missed the glide on this every day, i remember when I was looking for a wheel I realized it would mess with the height so I wanted a smaller one and these looked the best. But I needed another lock for what i was doing or 2 more. I wanted to use them when using my pedals for sim racing. it always sliped just a lil and i messed with changing the position but couldn't get them to work.

the only thing i truly like about this is that they are shorter tbh, the center bearing while it's nice isn't needed, it needs to roll a bit, no km and km every time you use them its curious the choice of the bearing for the top half, while i love that is caged its mostly useless as you don't dismantle this on daily bases, and the smaller bearing its very useless if you ask me, the other one has the plastic ring bcs once you are sitting, the load its fully on the top one, im somewhat confident that the plastic ring it's juuuust touching the fork and its just there so its not flapping and making noise,i do like the little side cut but thats bcs i have cats and makes easy to see if there are hair on the shaft

I think those are cool and appreciate when a company puts true design thought into their work and not just buying a Chinese product and slap their name on it. That being said, anytime someone says "oh this is a special Japanese steel that only we can get" is horse poop! in today's world the only way you can have a steel that "no one else" can get is to come up with your own proprietary alloy. I see this all of the time when discussing Japanese chef knives. And, even if they have some exclusive contract that they are the only people allowed to import that alloy, I can guarantee that there is an equivalent German alloy

I have read a little about japansese steel. Japan is most likely the leading knife and sword producer (like since the Samurai era more or less). For at least kitchen knifes - Solingen/Germany might be on the second place. I guess Japan got their for their "high end" industries and production capabilties. China does a lot cheap massproduction (i.e. steel), Japan does do specialixe a lot of the global luxury and high quality gadgets... including various type of hardware components (chips, amplifiers and lot more) textiles (today kinda comparable to Italy), knifes etc. Except that, Japan is one of the richest countries in the world while counting BNP. Japanese steel IS different because 1. they have highly skilled methods and professionals. 2. Japense steel has higher amount of coal than western steel. I do not remember the details about it. I think it makes the steel harder, and sharper. But it might actually mean less durability. But for cooking or in wars back in the days (litterly) it was indeed, really good thing. For wheels, not so much. However, "japense" steel is widely used for marketing bla bla bla... there are a lot of ordiniary or even cheap products that use "japanese steel". But it is low quality stuff... There are of course, good japaense steel that is probably much better than most steel. But I would not trust that this is so special, or possibly not even that "premium". I did read the bad reviews on Rozetka (I live in Sweden, they are not available here - but my gf live in Ukraine so I might buy the wheels there) and I get them when we meet. However, I bad reviews say they are garbage making some noise. Bacause the quality of that does also makes difference. At these pictures, the colours seems to wear of. Which, I guess is neither "perfect". Correct me if I am wrong but extremely resistant colours are very scratch-resistant. There are chemicals out there, that can stand anything or have amazing characteristics I noticed. Especially if it is for professional or industrial use. So, yeah. Not perfect. But maybe good enough for me. I am about to "pimp" my chair. A steelcase qivi chair. Replacing wheels and let a professional replace textile to high quality linen and replace the foam with horsehair, maybe. The $800+ chair feels like rolling on ice, I do not like it. Maybe, I will have better experience. Lets found out...

If you don't test, there isn't any point in discussing claims...

I was very clear about that. Very hard to believe one is not built tougher than the other from the use of materials alone but yes, without testing I don’t claim anything.

i went looking for the wheels on amazon NL but could not find them then went looking for them in Germany i would have to pay shipping for them. But then my jaw dropped to the floor.. instead of the $33 they cost 96 euro. At the time of writing that's $105 .,,Sold by a crazy chinees sounding seller called qiuxushenzen ..i think Stealtho should start thinking of EU.. i would love a set of these for $33 i also use cheaper variant of these wheels on my dining chairs and for one of my desk chairs
