Never heard of him until I saw him in an ASMR video. Kind of an ironic introduction to someone who’s apparently a legend for doing pretty much the exact opposite.

Same here! He doesn’t really “do” ASMR. His sandwich video from the Irish Times just happens to have calming qualities that classify it as “unintentional ASMR” which I find more satisfying. Other you tubers are just reposting it as such.

I admit coming from Derbyshire when I first saw his surname my tongue was tied up trying to pronounce it then in 2006 trainer Willie Mullins had a racehorse with the same name running at the Cheltenham Festival & it was Tony O'Hehir who told our racing commentators how to say it

I’m from the United States, and I found this video when I decided to search my last name to see what came up. It sounds like he goes back and forth between speaking English and speaking Irish. But there are other times where it sounds like he is combining the two languages at once. Am I hearing this correctly?

Yes. He’s an Irish speaker and so his Irish often comes out in the middle of his English language commentary, particularly at moments of high drama.

Gaelic football is the one with the soccer sized ball. Hurling is the one with the sticks and smaller ball(sliotar). Both are traditional irish sports played on the same type field with similar rules.
