I like that Leo, being the sensible brother, has mostly sword attacks while Mikey gets to do more silly stuff like throw pizzas. It’s a nice balance. (I’d say “oldest child vs. youngest child,” but apparently the TMNT don’t always have a canon birth order.)

I'm really digging what the game potentially has to offer. The only thing I hope to see in the future are the key poses and animations cleaned up for clarity and some punch. Without clear action, the game becomes hard to follow, and could potentially kill the visual attraction for spectators. I think you guys are doing great!

I have to agree with you. I couldn't put my finger on what was bothering me about the way the combat looks but then I watched How Smash Ultimate applies the 12 principles of animation and it kind of clicked where this game could use some improvements. Hope it mechanically feels good because they can always polish it later if it is successful.

I really like this showcase. A lot of the other characters were looking really similar in terms of their normal attacks, with the biggest offender being a lot of characters having the same exact "Mario style" up tilt (including Mikey) and neutral airs that hit on both sides. But Michaelangelo has super unique aerials and specials, and his stage and victory screen are the best looking so far. I don't think he's going to be the best character, but I'm going to main him anyways. He definitely has a lot of personality in his moves. The only thing I want is for him to have a longer taunt, where he fully eats and chews the pizza for maximum disrespect. I don't understand why taunts are so short in this game if there's only going to be one.

@NeXTIn_ daZone Yes you're right, and I was disappointed by that, but he greatly makes up for it in other areas, most notably his unique aerials and his projectile. Also at 4:30 he gets a clean hit on his strong down air and Spongebob goes sideways, which I actually like because every single character having a spike means it's not special anymore. So I'm glad Mikey's built a little bit different 😃

I gotta say this, because I don't see people say this enough I love how this feels like it's own thing despite being the same genre as Smash. With the Light and Strong attack system it feels more distinct, unlike most platform fighters which are literally JUST Smash Bros clones. It also doesn't feel super gimmicky like, say, Playstation Allstars. And best of all, I feel like if this game becomes a full on franchise this system as room to grow without looking like it's missing something important currently. Overall, great job at not just making a Smash Brothers copy.

Most platform fighters only play like Smash on a superficial level. The closest is SSF2 but that's the game's goal anyways. Rivals has no ledge so that heavily changes recovery and edgeguarding, no shields either. Brawlhalla puts a lot of time into aerial movement with a fairly high amount of walljupms and a special air action limit.
