Note Taking. Morph= Physical Traits exception in purple paradox, Phase = Color Normal: Solid Black Nails, Non-solid colored eyes, no translucence, scaly back. Rarer due to breeding of other Morphs. Hypo(melanistic): Clear Nails, reduction of pigmentation (don't see any dark coloring on this dragon), Bright as a baby since born without dark markings. Leatherback: Smooth back. Italian: Legs are smooth. American: A bit more bumpier than Italian. Microscale: Double Recessive, No spikes on back or crown. Trans(lucent): Their spikes are see-through, translucent belly as babies, solid black eyes. Hypo and Trans genes don't get along well. Dunner: No tail stripes, patterns instead. Amazingly different patterns. Beard is messy, mostly pointing forward. Belly isn't remotely as patterned. Thicker tail base. Larger feet. (are we sure that this is the same species at this point!?!) Limb scales poke out. Scales in general are like bedhead. Witblits: Patternless and colorless. Can have some colors, but no patterns. Shoulders will NEVER have any color, just the base color. Not good growers. Some can be sterile. Zeros: ONLY ONE base color. Like Solid Color cats. Except for black spots on shoulder pads. Hets: Recessive genes that aren't showing. Paradox: They loose their pattern. Looks patchy. Purple. Pied: White Blotches Co-Dominant Gene: Only one needs to visibly carry the gene. G-Stripes (and friends): Perfect stripes down the back. Silkies: Generally Smooth, no spikes. Breed 2 leatherbacks. Breeding 2 trans together isn't good idea. Mutations that are a weakness should responsibly not be bred together, breed normals in the line to keep them strong. Color has nothing to do with Morphs. Thanks for the lesson, teach!

Dragonemperess this makes me feel important to have a normal bearded dragon. No morph. I only saw normals at my local stores, so maybe pet store beardies are a good asset to breeders

I might have to watch/listen to this a couple more times before I really commit it ALL to memory, just because there are SO many morphs, but that was absolutely THE best explanation ever... the only one I've been able to follow aaaall the way through without my eyes glazing over and my ears hearing only blah blah blah, lol. Thanks for the lesson! :)

Hey, man. I know that you've cut back on reptile stuff altogether, but I just wanted to come back and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I adopted a silkback after much thought about how much time & care would go into them, and I just wanted to learn about them first-hand (have owned & fostered several dragons through the years, but never a silkback before). Your videos gave me the courage & info to do so, and you allowed me to bring this wonderful boy into my life. Adopted him at 2 months, and he is now a 1 year + 8 month old healthy boy! I have never forgotten your willingness to teach and open-mindedness to care about these creatures, no matter what anybody said. Thank you.

Thanks for putting out this very informative video. Didn't realise there were so many different colours, traits and morphs available. Been looking at getting a dragon or two for a while, and thanks to your video my mind is made up. Now it's just a matter of which one to choose. Perhaps in your next upload you could mention the approx age of your dragons. Peace be with you my friend.

I am a new mom to an AWESOME juvenile dragon! I believe she is a girl because I can't visibly see hemipiens , sorry if I spelled it wrong!😳 Dragons are VERY SMART animals and I believe that the way you talk and the tone in your voice says a lot to this animal SO you keep doing what you are doing and these CRITICS can go fly a kite and Not watch your videos! I got a bearded dragon last year, on march 15th for my 6 day early birthday present. He is a normal breardy I got from a pet store and I named him Phoenix. Y’know, I started watching this video and for the first half I was planning my comment and it was going to sound some kinda horrible like, “its people like you, collecting animals for bragging rights that causes horrible and fatal mutations, etc, etc.” But I kept watching all the way to the end and holy shit, am I glad I did! Not only are you very knowledgeable about beardies and know quite a bit about their genetics, but you clearly care about them and are one of the good guys in the industry. I’m sorry that my initial reaction was to bash you. If anyone else makes the same mistake I did, I encourage you to watch to the end and consider the thought that this fella only shared a small idea of how much he cares for these animals, but it’s enough to see that he loves each of them just as much as I love mine that I don’t ever plan to breed. They’re not a project. They’re family and now I’m able to see that you seem to also believe this. Thank you for this video (even though I’m watching this 4 years late 😂).

Hi Michel Behrends! I am getting a baby bearded dragon soon. Your bearded dragons and other animals are beautiful, awesome, and very nice with handling. You have inspired me to also be a reptile owner when I grow up and work with all kinds of reptiles and animals. I wanted to get a bearded dragon with cool designs and colors but mostly red because it is my favorite color. I loved Casper in your video, he was probally my favorite color in all of the ones you showed. Im planning on getting that kind, well it depends if where I get my new beardie from if they have it. If you see this comment, can you please make a video of like a daily routine for the whole day or make a video on what you do everyday for all of your bearded dragons, what things you use like lights and decorations, food, tips for new bearded dragon owners (like me) and etc. Love you Michel Behrends and your animals!

The folks who worked with the original stock that showed up in US are still around. I worked with Bob, Chris, and Phillipe when the yellow showed up. We called hypomels "pastels" because when they hatched, they are pastel greenish blueish pastel glow to them. We later came to understand the animals were hypomelanistic (not reduced color btw; reduced black i.e "amelanistic light"). Color is not fixed and can not be line bred exactly how most people understand.. it's kinda different.

Thank you for this video, I recently rescued a Bearded Dragon from my local pet shop that was in poor living conditions, which is my first dragon ever. Now they told me this dragon was around a year old, and quote a "high yellow" beardie. From what I can tell from your video he is a hypo trans due to his translucent claws and spikes, along with his solid black eyes. He also has a yellow head and spine until it meets his tail, with purpleish sides and raised scales, so I'm still unsure exactly what morph combo he is.

Casper looks under weight...definitely not jabbing at you here, Michel, because it's your videos that helped educate me in giving my rescue a good quality of life, and it's obvious how much you love your babies, but I'm just pointing out, out of concern. I hope all your babies are well

Maybe he bred a lot that season. Its not uncommon for the males to loose some weight when breeding. Females do after laying also

screw what people say about the way you show affection towards your babies! I do that with my reptiles and I do that with my dogs, they get affection as if they were my own, well they are but you know what I mean ahaha but it's amazing to see the love you have for them, and you're the type of person / petkeeper that'd do almost anything for their little reptiles or domestic animals, I know I would. Keep on the beardie kisses!! ✌
