In honor of the passing of the legendary Renata Scotto, I decided to upload this memory. I began studying with Renata in 2004 and my last collaboration with her was my debut as Elvino in her production of "La sonnambula" (Bellini) with Florida Grand Opera in 2013. In autumn of 2007, I made my debut as Ferrando in "Così fan tutte" with the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and Renata had graciously attended one of my performances. After the run, I continued to work with her at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia for several weeks and she asked me to come sing with several other students for the La Barcaccia radio program which was doing a spot about her program. She asked me to sing Don Ramiro which I was preparing to debut in the Spring. I remember it was rather early in the day and it was the first time I had ever sung in a radio studio or into a microphone! I was extremely young and just at the outset of my career, but I am very thankful that Renata had taken such an invested interest in me and my singing, that she offered me this opportunity, and certainly for her words about me following my performance that morning. I was glad to have had her guidance during the years that I worked with her. May she rest in peace and her memory live on through her immense and important legacy.
