I bought OTR and nearly sold it first, then was going to donate it to charity; then I saw your video! Thank you so much for sharing the technique on setting a part, but especially for steaming/training the hair away from the face. I have now "fixed" several wigs I have with these techniques and am much happier with them. ❤❤

Michele, thank you for the comparison of RW SS Cappuccino to the Gabor SS Cappuccino. I absolutely love more of the face framing, chunky highlighting, of the RW SS Cappuccino. RW is known for bringing more highlights around the face--and she does an impeccable job of bringing these highlights all the way up to the lace front. This does a great job of obscuring the darker knotting at the lace front, making for a more natural look. I am enjoying your channel and have learned so much. Great job!

Adorable style. Love the color. Ideal length. Have you ever used electric rollers not fully heated when styling? Glad to hear generous fit. I prefer this Gabor vs RW. Also lower density more realistic. Wouldn’t know its a wig.
@micheleswigreviews2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much!😀I have not used electric rollers to style my wigs. I normally use a curling iron or a flat iron on my heat friendly synthetic styles. I might try that method though. Thanks for the tip! I'm also very impressed with this style and Gabor in general and prefer lower density styles. Thanks for watching and commenting!💖

Thank you for the comparison. I heard the new Gabor heat resistant fibers were a blend of 2 plastic fibers.
@micheleswigreviews2 жыл бұрын
You are very welcome!😀 I have not heard that about these fibers. The only description I have been able to find states that Gabor’s Tru2Life synthetic fibers look and feel like real hair. The tag on the wig indicates that it's 100% polyester fiber. If I find out more about the fibers, I will try to let you know.💖

@micheleswigreviews2 жыл бұрын
@@vickywhite8586 Thanks so much, Vicky! I had not watched the entire video. You're absolutely right, Frank stated that these fibers are a proprietary blend of 2 polyester fibers, have a very small denier, are very fine, pliable and light, resist cold set, are easily moldable, resist matting, will give you a much more resilient wear, and hold the curl and style pattern. I will say that I'm happy with how the fibers are holding the style I created with the steam and they are very fine and silky.👍💖

Since your bio hair matches so well, why not pull a few of them out to blend in with the wig? I think that would look more natural whether you wear it down or up.
@micheleswigreviews2 жыл бұрын
Hi Robin, you know, I think I agree with you.😀 When I was editing the video I noticed that I liked how it looked while I was filming the styling segment and my bio hair was out. However, I had to straighten my fuzzy bio hair to create the sleek straight look. Thanks for watching!💖

So grateful for your excellent reviews! I’m certainly considering the Gabor OtR wig once it becomes available to order in my region which is the EU. One thing I’ve noticed by watching your color comparison between the RW and G units is that RW part seems more realistic . Do you notice a difference yourself between the monofilament qualities on these two? Thank you again
@micheleswigreviews Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, LD!😀Unfortunately I sold Portrait Mode, so I don't have it on hand anymore. I did notice that the part line for Portrait Mode was less dense. Perhaps that's what you are referring to? It could be due to the fact that Portrait Mode has a fully hand-tied mono top whereas Own The Room only has a mono part. I do think the white styrofoam heads accentuated this difference and that it is normally less noticeable. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!💖

Thank you so much for all the reviews and valuable information you share on your channel! I would like to incorporate some of my bio hair at the nape as you have done here. How do you keep the wig secure when some of your bio hair is pulled out from under the cap at the nape?
@micheleswigreviews Жыл бұрын
Hi Stephanie, that's a great question! I know what you mean, wigs can feel less secure when you leave your bio hair out at the nape. I normally only do that when I'm wearing my wigs in ponytails. In the past, when I did wear my bio hair out more often and was wearing Cameron by Jon Renau, I sewed a clip to the nape to keep it from riding up. If you do that, just be sure it’s not pulling on your hair as this can cause traction alopecia. Another option is to wear a wig grip or use bobby pins. Also, I know that some wig wearers like to use It Stays Body Adhesive or Got2B spray to help secure their wigs (I have never tried this). If you use these adhesives, you will need to loosen the hold carefully before you take your wig off. I understand that you can either spray the lace front with water or place a warm wash cloth up against it and it comes off. Hope this helps!💖

This looks great on you. I really like this one and you have recommended it to me. It looks like a very natural density and look on you, which is what I like. I also watched Taz's review of the same wig and hers looks really feathered back and puffy. I know she likes to wear fuller hair, she seems very petite, and it looks beautiful on her but I am not a fan of thick poof. So I'm a little worried. If I received one that looks like yours I'd keep it, if it looked like hers and didn't seem like it would calm down, I'd be unhappy. Is this low permatease? Thanks again for all your help and reviews. Sherry
@micheleswigreviews Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, Sherry!😊Each reviewer has a different way of styling the wigs they review. Normally you can achieve these looks with the same wig. Own the Room has minimal permatease. She's a great style, I hope you love her when you get her!💖

Thanks Lisa Marie!😀Own The Room has minimal Permatease. I bet it's gorgeous in Iced Caffe Latte! I agree, there are definitely similarities between Own The Room and Pretty Please by RW. I don't personally have Pretty Please but it looks like the layers in the front are quite a bit shorter on Pretty Please. Of course the cap construction is also different.💖

I think the small color swatches you see on the websites are so deceptive. Both the RW and Gabor Shaded Cappuccino colors are quite cool and ashy. I see very little warmth in them. Good luck with the steaming technique!💖

I have her in two colors with a third on the way and I absolutely love the style, however, I must say I own a very large collection of wigs and this one tangles on me so bad in the back. I find myself having to comb it literally every 10 minutes. I don’t know what’s up with that -seriously, on Christmas Eve I wore it and I had a velour top on without a collar and maybe it was just that I was wearing velour, but it was awful with the tangling.
@micheleswigreviews Жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm so sorry to hear that Own the Room is tangling so much in the back. Have you tried using some Simply Stylin' spray? I like to use it on the ends every 3-5 days (be sure to avoid getting it on a hand-tied cap so as not to loosen the knots). You can also use it on the nape. This is my favorite product for detangling my mid length and long styles. Additional methods/products I recommend for heat friendly synthetic fibers include 1) finger combing or combing with a wide-tooth comb throughout the day, 2) spraying a little bit (small amount to avoid buildup) of the Jon Renau HD Smooth Detangler on the ends and nape and combing through after wearing it, 3) using a flat iron (for straight styles) on the ends. You want to use either water or a heat-protectant on the fibers. According to Gabor, their Tru2Life heat-friendly synthetic fibers can withstand a low-medium heat setting up to 350°F/180°C., 4) applying heat to the ends by using steam or a plastic hot air brush (fibers should be dry), and, if necessary, 5) trimming the ends. Hope this helps!💖

How do you manage keeping the fibers nice?
@micheleswigreviews11 ай бұрын
Hi! Own The Room is a style that I reviewed and then sold. I have not worn it for an extended period of time. As you probably know, Own The Room is a heat friendly synthetic wig. Basically, I would suggest only using a wide tooth comb (not a brush) and using some Simply Stylin’ pure silicone spray (you can get this on Amazon) on the ends and nape, when needed. Be sure to avoid getting it on any hand-tied portions of the cap so as not to loosen the knots. Also, I recommend using heat on the ends of heat friendly synthetic fibers (when needed) to keep them looking their best. Any kind of curling iron or flat iron can be used on a heat-friendly wig. You want to use no more than the manufacturer’s heat recommendation (Gabor recommends a maximum of 350℉). You need to use either water or a heat-protectant (formulated for HF synthetic fibers) on the fibers before applying heat. Hope this helps!💖
