Hi. I realize this is a bit of an older video but I wanted to thank you for sharing it. Finally! 🎉 I’ve searched for a tutorial on how to cut my wigs- I mean really cut them- from prior to getting my scissors out to placing them back on to wear out and you nailed it. I purposely purchase longer wigs so I can trim or cut them as the ends begin to frazzle in order to extend their lifespan but I’m not a professional stylist - I’m barely past the basics. Your knowledge, advice and suggestions have been a godsend to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Same here. I’m just beginning the journey, so it’s going to be a very helpful video when I reach that point. Prior to losing so much hair, I had extremely long hair that I trimmed myself. It was only slightly tricky in the sense that I always tried to avoid the straight blunt cut that most hairdressers use across the back when dealing with long hair. But nothing as challenging compared to what I imagined trimming a wig might be! This will help a LOT. I had to first cut most of my length off to make dealing with rapidly thinning hair a bit easier (😢) and now I begin the learning about and buying wigs journey. I’m starting with extremely cheap toppers and only one wig (also extremely cheap) so far. Wish me luck! 🍀 🤞😄 I’ll need it!

@@Beezer.D.B. I'm so sorry to hear about your rapidly thinning hair. It's hard. But alternative hair definitely helps! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I wore toppers for 10 years. Unfortunately, the way I wore them (mostly in a ponytail) caused traction alopecia. Here's a link to a video where I discuss that - kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5nJaKCIlpWnidE. Hi Michelle, congrats on getting your first synthetic wig!🥳 I remember being where you are now. There is a learning curve when it comes to wearing synthetic wigs, but I'm sure you will figure it all out quickly. When you are new to wearing wigs, they can feel like a lot of hair/fiber, especially if you are used to fine and thin bio hair. I recommend giving it a bit of time and wearing your wig at home until you feel more comfortable. Then, if you are sure that you want to thin your wig, here's a link to my video showing how I like to do that - kzbin.info/www/bejne/ol6qm6GMrpmEmtU. Good luck!💖

@@JuliesMakeupadvice60 You're very welcome, Julie!😊 Good luck, I hope you love the results! Also, since you are new to toppers, I wanted to give you my usual topper advice. To avoid/minimize possible hair loss due to traction from topper clips, I always like to recommend: 1. wearing the correct base size, 2. limiting tight hairdos like ponytails or anything that causes pulling on your biological hair, 3. using either Walker lace front wig tape (blue) on the lace front (keep it away from any bio hair and remove with JR's Lace Let Go) or wearing a topper grip for additional security, and 4. moving the clips so that they are not always clipping into the same hair.💖

I've been cutting my wigs for a while now. And it's been trial and error, but I've used old wigs. The neat thing about some wigs, they can be forgiving. Also, the shears will get dull because you're cutting fibers made of plastic, so to speak, as opposed to real hair.

@@MsLeafs13 I have trimmed extended napes on Jon Renau's Lite Collection pieces that have silicone covered extended napes. Most relevant for you is that I did trim the extended nape on Savoir Faire by Raquel Welch (I wore that style in 2017). I believe Savoir Faire has the same Pinnacle Cap as Provocateur. I was pleased with the result. If you send me an e-mail to micheleswigreviews@gmail.com, I can send you a picture of it. Every head size and shape is different though, so I don't know if you will be pleased with the result. Please know that doing this is at your own risk and, of course, you will loose some of the hair in the back in the process and the cap might feel less secure with less silicone remaining. If you decide to do this, I suggest trimming just a little bit at a time. Good luck!💖

Just came here to help and give some advice. You should never cut above your fingers when cutting. You always cut below your fingers and you should section off the nape area and start the very bottom and that would be your guide. Then you work your way up and all the way around in 1 inch sections and you have to make sure that the head is tilted down when you’re cutting underneath. From a licensed hair stylist. 🤷🏼♀️
