@raynman67 I have the awd crosstour on the same Micheline Cross Climates. You are absolutely right, it almost performs as good as a winter tire in most tests. Braking is the only slight drawback I felt. Good video.

@raynman67

Pennsylvania (I grew up in Pittsburgh) is whole different beast. Some of the hills are so steep I remember when they were snow covered you put the brakes on at the top and pray you stop at the bottom. I’d be curious how they perform there. We have big mountains in Colorado, the snow is softer and the road grades aren’t as steep as they are in PA

Sir, all I can say is thank you 🙏. You have made a 30mins video of driving around in the snow not boring and informative. Big props to the braking info. A lot of reviews miss that. I feel that braking is one of the most important information.

Excellent real world review sans glitz, stupid music and a loud overbearing personality. Good job. I just bought these tires and they're amazing. You have officially blown away the so called "professionals" on KZbin by mentioning the most important aspect of good tires...the ability to stop. Going forward is not as important.
@raynman67

Well appreciate most of your comment 😂glad it was helpful and thank you for the kind comment. Not sure any music was in the video, but I agree braking is the most important, but also just taking your foot off the gas earlier is helpful in winter conditions. Stop slowing down earlier than you would in dryer conditions !
@HeinrichEichmann

@@raynman67 I believe he was actually complementing your video for not having all the 'glitz', 'stupid music' and a 'loud overbearing personality' like some other reviewers do. Just substitute 'without' for 'sans' in his comment, same meaning.

I will be putting a set of these on my '17 Subaru Impreza sport before next winter. I usually have 2 sets of tires for my vehicles, one for summer and one for winter, but I'm getting tired of swapping them out twice per year and only having TPMS half the year, since my car can only 'remember' one set of sensors. I'm thrilled that Michelin has made an all weather tire that lives up to the hype. They're definitely expensive, but if they actually last 60,000 miles, it's money well spent. Solid review!

We had Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires installed on both our Outback and Forester. Our Subaru’s have awesome traction, even on the factory tires, but the Cross Climate 2 tires Rock. They’re Awesome on dry, wet, slushy, snowy, logging and forest roads. We recommend them to anyone who will listen to us.

Thanks, now the roads are dry starting to notice how they drive on dry pavement. A little rough IMO. You definitely feel bumps and cracks in the road a little more than I did while I had the touring tires on. So not as smooth as a touring tire for sure. Also MPG is down almost 2-3 miles per gallon. Michelin claims this will improve with wear. But also I understand you have to sacrifice some to gain some. Works both ways

Living in Eagle River Alaska middle of mountain hills and I used to swap between studded tires and all season tires but last year, I changed to cross climate 2 and they are wonderful. They are about 95% of blizzak or 90% of studded. Traction is about same but there is some difference in braking distance but not a huge deal unless you like to slamming brakes on icy road.

I have been using them for over 2 1/2 years now on my 16 toyota Camry Hybrid and they are the absolute best in snow. All front wheel drive. I have had just once in my parking space due to ice slip me into the small gutter up against the sidewalk. No fault of the tires it is total wet ice underneath the snow. My 1st set I bought for $138 bucks and now I need a new full set for the next upcoming winter and tires stores wanted upwards of $1,100 bucks for a set as high as $250 bucks plus another almost $150 just for them to put it on. I did buy them this time, but from Costco! a total of $756 bucks. No addition fees whatsoever! The downside is they are slow getting the tires and putting them on. Taking almost 2 weeks! They will do repairs, but what a wait.

Sir: This video was very helpful, period. I agree with Mr. Paradise, below. I am shopping for a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu four door sedan. Present tires are absolutely atrocious - I purchased the vehicle on Presidents Day, NH; we were surprised with a nice small snowfall and the sneakers on Mabel (aka Malibu) were atrocious. Thankfully, I avoided other late season snowfalls. (My wife has a 2018 Ford Explorer; i have the Malibu and commute across NH to work - haven't decided what I will put on the Explorer) I am writing from NH; your video is well representative of my cross state driving snow conditions in NH , ME, and VT. This is my life. I appreciated being able to watch the vehicle maneuver from stopped; in and out of high speed lane; in and out of exit ramp. I appreciated your characterization of "highway glaze" - perfect. I appreciated your video capture of intersection behavior. I appreciated your general characterization of this tire's performance with our driver behavior. You're absolutely correct; there might be some slipping here and there, but, when we slow down, the tires do their job. I appreciated your representation of the tires tracking well in glazed plowed conditions as well as all other snow conditions - these tires seem to permit your vehicle to track well, at all times. I sincerely appreciate the time you put into this and it has been helpful. These are the driving conditions that one will often experience in NH, ME, and VT. Michelin should really be compensating you - this is very good work. Thank you. ~ Pat Doherty

Best tires I’ve owned. They go through the western Canadian snow with no problem. I’m really surprised at how quick the car can stop. The tires dig right in. The only worry I have is, what kind of tires are the other people driving on. I can stop, can they?

I'm an essential worker in new england, and all it takes is one winter storm to make it impossible to get to work. This video helped out a lot. Engineers and customers are saying a lot of good things about the cross climate2's. Seems like the best choice for all season tires, just not quite as good as pure snow/ice tires. But you can't use winter tires all year. Treads wear out too fast in the heat, and potentially tire failure. Thanks for the review!

No snow in Michigan?? Great in snow. Think winter tires do better on straight ice, but otherwise most winter conditions they will do great. Deep snow could pose a problem if you bottom out. I did get stuck once Turning into a parking lot that had 10” inches of snow, but it was pure clear ice underneath. Lucky there was a plow truck parked not to far away who pulled me out. Pretty sure it was because I got high centered.

I recently changed vehicles and now drive an Audi Q3 S line Quattro which is not permanent all wheel drive and came with Pirelli summer tyres on it. You can bet I’ll be changing to the Michelin cross climate 2 when the winter weather returns. The Pirelli’s will be binned for sure. The main thing which was demonstrated in this video and I also found when using them on my car and that is to drive to the conditions, don’t drive like an idiot.

I have never driven into a ditch in Winter conditions since I was a teenager but if the speed limit is 45 and the car ahead of me is driving 30, then I'm going to pass. There is nothing wrong with that. If I feel that it is safe for me to drive 45, then I will do so. I can see someone ahead of me well in advance and slow down to their speed. Then, if I feel that it is safe, I will pass.

Seems to be great tires from all the KZbin reviews I've seen. So I'm looking to get them put on my son's 2013 V6 Accord. We live in Central Jersey and we get our fair share of snow. Nothing like where you're at, but it's more like a Black Ice on the roadways is what we get. So these should come in handy. And with the discounts that I'm seeing at Costco's and BJ's, the price is similar to some, (all be it good) cheaper tires. You can't go wrong I guess. Great review. Give us a sense of how these tires handle in the snow. I just got the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4's put on about a week ago and have put on like 200 miles. They feel good compared to the Toyo's I had. For me it was a toss up between these an and the Pilot Sports. Decide to go with the Pilot Sports because I don't drive that much in inclement weather and they were about $$150-200 cheaper for my 2019 Mazda CX GTR. But for my son who does more driving, I would like the safest tire I could get. Once again, great review. Best of luck!

Great video. Agreed on the rain/summer review. I'm on the fence about the true need for these for my 2020 Honda Passport AWD now that they've finally come out with my size. I'm in San Diego, so their use in snow would be limited to the rare times we get snow in our mountains about an hour east of town (4,000'-6,000' elevation) or when I would drive up to the Sierra Nevada (Kings Canyon / Sequoia / Yosemite / Eastern Sierra). When it does rain here in San Diego, drainage on our streets and highways sucks, and too many cars hydroplane and spin out, so rain performance would be important to know. Thanks again for this informative video.

They’re great for 1 winter season. Then, if used all year round, the next winter is a challenge. They do badly on wet. Used to have them until one day decided to go skiing. Couldn’t climb a steep snowed covered road. Changed to winter tires and climbed without a problem. They’re good as long as you don’t drive fast or drive in a mountainous area. Oh and they’re super squeaky in the summer above 90s.

Well I’m going into my third season, dry roads feels really good, you might notice a little noise at first, probably as with any new tire, done a couple 3000+ road trips on them and did really well, averaged 30.5 miles per gallon from Eagle to Pittsburgh PA, pretty good for a V6. Car does have VCM so a good part of the time it’s running on 3 cylinders. Best tire I’ve had on wet roads. Just guessing cause my receipt from the tires isn’t handy, I’ve got about 30K to 35k on them and still have tons of tread life left.
