Thanks for your review on the PR6 GT Trevor. With the front supposedly lasting longer than the rear, Id have to battle my own OCD whenever it comes to replacing the rear! It is also surprising you get similar rear mileage compared to the non-GT version. However, I think I will give it a go when Michelins start to appear in NZ. Current ETA is somewhere October but hoping my tires don't go 90 degrees to the square! Again, your reviews on high mileage 1260s also gives me (and hopefully others) a shot of confidence. Keep up the good work and looking to see more of your videos

My recommendation: front Power 5, rear Road 5. Great handling for solo sporty or with wife and full luggage. Front 8-10‘000km, rear 7-8‘000km. I ride the tyres close to the edge. Work well dry and wet. I made 18‘000km with this combi. I will try now front Power 6 with rear Road 6. And yes, I can destroy the tyre within 1500km (or less), former Super Biker.

Hey Rolf, that’s an interesting combo! To be honest I’ve never ridden with mixed a tyre set up. However I’m pretty impressed with the wear on these Power 6’s so far. The rear has 3mm left and the front has 5mm left after 3,500 miles! I’ve just ordered another Power 6 rear as I think I’m going to get an even 2 x rears to 1 x front wear rate. 👌👌

Multi owner for over 12 years and always been a michelin fan boy but never got more than 2.8k miles out of any rear. I was thren told to try conti RoadAttack 4 and got 4.5k miles out of the rear .. lets be honest we all wear the rear 1st, and never failed in any condition. that to me makes a massive difference in miles to cost , give them a go and thank me after 😏

…just fitted a new set of Road 6 GT’s …might try the Conti next time…👌

New subscriber, thank you so much for doing these video series. Made me super confident in my recent purchase of a 1260 Pikes Peak. This is my first sports tourer and a bit worried on the tyres. It has a new set of Metzler M9RR which I guess is comparable to the Power 6? I don't do mega mileage so not too concerned on how long they last but worried about doing mild off roading as I will be going on to campsites which will mainly be grass and gravel. Have you had much experience in this? I know you said previously you don't like off-roading but I imagine you've done the odd bit over 80k miles! I'm more worried about it in the wet with it being a bit of a heavy bike and I'm quite a short guy!

Hey Tony, glad to have to along! You’re right I don’t do much “off-road” riding, but when I do the bike is awesome, switch it over to “Enduro” mode and away you go. I recently rode the Kielder Forest trail in Northumberland which was awesome..along with my brother on his BMW XR…both bike coped with that sort of trail without any issues at all…

I got my Multi V4 Rally with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II s and was very satisfied with them. With the Scorpion Trail III not available for the V4 Rally yet, I now, (after 19000 km) ride with Michelin Anakee Road s. So far I am also very satisfied with them. I am looking forward how much miles I will make with them.
@MouldyPIX5 ай бұрын
Sounds like you ride a lot more off road than me! 🤣 I managed the Kielder Forest way a few months back..but that’ll do me for another year..black to the tarmac for me! 😆😆👌

@@MouldyPIX Well....☺ the tyre is advertised to be a 90/10 tyre. I use the 10 part occasionally for gravel roads but nothing more serious. When I watch the TET and ACT folks struggling to keep alive, that can't possibly be fun.

Hi, I’ve got a 2014 multi with Road GT 6’s. I love them. They’re due for replacing, could I expect the same sort of mileage with the Powers? Is it worth changing to them? Thanks.
@MouldyPIX5 ай бұрын
Hi Luke, I’m loving the Power 6’s, done 1,500 miles on them and down to 4mm..😳. Not unexpected but I’d say only 50%-60% of the life/wear of the Road 6GT…
@distancejunkiemonkey44915 ай бұрын
The GT version just has a stiffer sidewall. If you have a pillion, carry a full case, or both then it would be a good option. The actual compounds are the same as the non GT version

Any issues with the Road 6 pulling to the left? A few reviews have mentioned that and it's put me off from buying them. I've had R5 before and found them really good, but lacking some feel/feedback.
@MouldyPIX5 ай бұрын
Hi Zak, that’s an unusual one! I’ve not experienced it though…👌

Interested to hear what pressure you are running on these tyres ?

I run 34psi (front) 40psi (rear)..

Amazing Trevor , your content on the 1260 is probably the best when it comes to long term ownership, coincidentally I have just ordered a pair of road fives for my 1260 pikes peak as the rear (Pirelli Scorpion trail 2 ) had developed a flat spot after a recent trip to Wales . I based my choice in part on your recommendation, my mate who has a tracer 7 may choose the power 5 as he wants more grip in the Twisties , I will let you know how we get on. I am also getting the front and rear break pads done - brembo pads, expensive but hopefully they will last long , I have done 1k miles after having bought it in Nov (it had 5400 on the clock then)

Interesting I had to drop from standard 200 rear to 190 so could go back to my favourite Michelinroad 5 Used them on track on a street triple 675 cooked them . wouldn’t use road 5 on a superduke on track but great road tyre . Had Michelin power 5 on last wasn’t either one or other not long lasting . I used them on track on the duke wouldn’t use them on track again .
@MouldyPIX5 ай бұрын
Can I ask what tyres you do use on track now?
@marksmith86635 ай бұрын
@@MouldyPIX i only took the super duke on track once had I power 5 which I used on a tour I got almost 4k m out of them . They needed a bit of warming up on track not the grippiest felling tyre simulator consistent as s22. But S22 feel like can be pushed more to my track ability limit and rossos 2 and 4 . If only riding on the road then road 5 or 6 never used 6 is ideal Don’t need warming up . I’ve only toasted them on track when it was 36c day started to get gooey at the end of season. You never get that. Sort of heat in Them on the road .

Ahhh the tyres... Never one right answer is there... I have to say that I've tried many over the years and I think the Scorpion Trail tyres that came as standard on these bikes are still the best choice for me. I do way less miles than you however and probably more weekend twisty rides than longer journeys. It's always about the finer differences rather than the bulk similarities. I've always just found the Michelin tyres to be a 'little' more wooden in the bends and develop a slightly triangular profile if you push them in the bends more than the covering the miles over time.

Michelin road 6 for example is good ,but design is bad ..and that is" puncture magnet "all michelin is little bit on hype...Try Metzeler...that's is another level ...
