As a bridal stylist, I see lots of brides who feel they don’t deserve to celebrate as hard or go as big for their second wedding. I ALWAYS encourage them to know that they absolutely deserve to celebrate THIS love story. ❤ Having been married before absolutely does not take away from how special this story is. In fact it’s part of your story! It’s part of the growth that led you to be who you are and it couldn’t have happened any other way. So Michel, know that you are so worthy of celebrating this unique, wonderful, love story of yours! ❤️

Fellow celiac here - the best thing we did was do a fully gluten-free wedding. It was so nice to not have to worry about contaminating my food and all that (and knowing I could eat everything at the wedding). I also spent $89 on my dress (got it from a department store and then had it slightly altered to work with my body type). I look back at the pictures with no regrets. We were also so happy we left lots of money leftover to do a Maui honeymoon for 2 weeks. So happy for you Michel.

@@MichelJanse A friend of mine who is a celiac girly recently got married. Her and her husband just got a small gluten free cake for the cake cutting, but the rest was just a sheet cake for their guests. It worked out well for them. But, of course, you and Jordy do whatever is best for the two of you 🙂

@@kimreese3530yes and lots of people rush into a new marriage with someone else who seems completely opposite their ex… And it isn’t perfect like the honeymoon phase. Good for you that it worked out well rushing into things but we are not experts, no matter how much we think our own relationships have been successful… To believe such is pretty ignorant. Most people do not get married believing the person isn’t their perfect forever… That’s the entire issue… People believe it IS their forever. None of that however has anything to do with the fact she of course has every right to have a REAL wedding.

Having been in Jordy's shoes - so to speak - and marrying someone who had been married before while I hadn't- he's going to be dealing with some "hidden" feelings also that he will most likely suppress to protect you. I believe it would be incredibly valuable to both of you to take time to explore the "secret fears" together so they don't linger as a wedge issue that can validate individualistic tendencies in the times that are tough. All the best to you guys!

Girl, this is not like celebrating a half birthday and a birthday. This is like being poisoned on your birthday, and having every right to celebrate it the right away, now. Dont rip yourself off MORE because of your ex. He took more than enough. The consequences being married to him dont get to take more from you. Celebrate YOU the right way this time. Celebrate you and Jordy thr right way this time. You deserve that. Jordy deserves that. And timing doesnt matter -- you've been with Jordy long enough to know that you want forever with him. It doesnt matter what ANYONE thinks of that besides you and Jordy. If youre able, try to stop comparing. You're comparing rust with a platinum diamond - theyre not comparable and dont deserve to live in the same part of your mind or heart.

I love how HEALTHY you and Jordy are! It's so beautiful that you can have the honest and open communication. I'm 42 and have been married two times (I'm still married to my second husband). I had a lot of the same feelings that you're having, especially since it was his first wedding and my second. I feel you about the clarity you feel by having something/someone to compare it to. It was much easier to see what a healthy and good relationship is when the first marriage was so bad and unhealthy. I'm happy for you both, and wish you the best life! You're really starting out in a good place by having such good communication!

I've been married twice. I think it helped both of us to appreciate love so much more and reflect on tough times differently. I can appreciate you sharing that you're thankful to have met the right person still so young in life and I'm very thankful for you to have that too. I met my person not as early and we discuss how we have committed to x years together. Not because it's going to ever fail, but due to age and committing to being alive for a certain number of years. And 40 years is our commitment. We have a min 37 more to go. 😉 We each came with children but don't have our own together. We're in a different stage of life where children are slowly leaving home and we have time to focus on ourselves. So even though we may not get as much time as we would have hoped for and missed some stahes of life together, we see our quality time with each other as greater.

Having seen your videos about your divorce and many before, can I just say that we can tell the difference between a forced smile and genuine happiness. You look so happy now and Jordy seems like such a sweet man! I’m so happy for you and I hope you can see this wedding as what it is, a man and woman who love and respect each other, two equals who genuinely care for each other - coming together to celebrate and solidify their love before God and family and friends. You were so young last time, in a power imbalance relationship founded on lies! Now is your time to really have the wedding of your dreams for all the right reasons! Don’t you dare feel guilty about it! You deserve this kind and loving man in Jordy, you deserve a beautiful wedding and you deserve a happy future together! And I will be here for all of it!

As someone who was here during your first wedding/marriage, it is beautiful to witness your growth as a person/partner/woman. Your excitement to be married vs. excitement for a wedding speaks to your maturity, though both are exciting. You are deserving of Jordy’s love & kindness (& he of yours); you seem so well-matched. His appreciation & understanding of your feelings/emotions is heart-warming. The small, intentional, & well-planned things that he does with you in mind are so lovely. I hope that you get to a place where you feel (& know) that it is more than okay to relish this time as a bride-to-be, in whatever form that is for you. P.S. I am curious about what Jordy has imagined his wedding to look like.

Michel, You do deserve this, everyone in this world deserves to be happy. This is your and Jordy's wedding, you both do exactly as you wish, no one needs to express their opinion unless it is asked for. I was married for a very long time and when we divorced, I said NEVER AGAIN. And around the 2.5 year mark I was like hum well maybe I would like to date again. God had this incredible man for me, we have now been married 12 years. The wedding was simple on the beach overlooking the water, and lunch at Olive Garden (our favorite place). I still have some trauma and like you, he listens to me, doesn't try to fix it, and normally says "do I have stupid written on my forehead"? God had Jordy for you, and you for him. Enjoy this time, don't get burdened down in the details, do what you both want, and remember all that truly matters is at the end of the day, it's Jordy and Michel, your day, yours lives, you will be his wife and Jordy will be your husband and Max will have his little life with you both too! So very happy for you.

When the love and excitement of a life together dwarfs the idea of an elaborate wedding, that’s when you know you’re in the right place. You’re not feeling this way merely because you’ve been through it already…don’t feel pressured by others to do the typical stressful planning (unless you feel compelled to), keep it low key and just marry that boy we’re all so happy you have found 🥰

My parents planned the first and it was their way. Also wanted to say that me, my husband, my ex and his wife all became friends, when ex and my two daughters got married they had both Dads give them away coz they wouldn’t choose one over the other. We’ve also all been to their life events, engagement, graduations, big birthdays and the like. Sorry my message is so long but I just wanted people to know coz I’m proud of the way we’ve been. First off, congratulations!! How amazing that you found your person who truly makes you feel safe and loved. I was in the same camp as you as well. I got engaged 1.5 years after my divorce from my first husband. The idea of planning a wedding and acting like it was my first one just didn’t sit well with me. Especially after my parents paid for my first wedding, which was not cheap, so we did it on our own with a little help from his parents (his first wedding). All in all 30 people and a beautiful backyard wedding at his parents home. And it really is more about the marriage, not the wedding.

Going through it too! Got divorced and re engaged in my twenties on a very similar timeline as yours. It also feels different this time around, and I think your content is very helpful. I feel the exact same! Excited for a marriage with a partner who really wants to work on things, and I’m less excited about the engagement traditions and bridal stuff. I think second time around, you care more about the marriage part because you’ve experienced it before and know what’s it is like to end it. Also marrying a guy who it’s his first time and it’s my second. It’s also a huge thing to navigate too, but he’s also super supportive that my feelings may be a little different than his! We’re in this phase together, and it’s nice to have someone online I can relate with 100%!

I would love to see all the wedding plans or not wedding plans you wish to share on KZbin. Simply as a bigger wedding vs. smaller wedding plans and low key vs. more "big" deal wedding plans/journey could be so helpful for other people at their 1st or other # wedding. It is also nice to see you in such a happy healthy place for this journey and you are worth to have as much or little wedding stuff or events as you want. I am in the 17th year of my 1st marriage (to my college sweetheart) and still love to see all the wedding and engagement events of others. This is a new beginning and that deserves celebrating in whatever form and fashion you and Jordy want it to be.

Hi Michel! So happy and excited for you! You deserve this! :) Still in my 20s and I went through something kind of similar with my ex too. We were together for 6 years and engaged for about a year. I did not feel confident in who I was with.. it did not feel like he was the right person and I can now admit and see that he did not treat me well. After breaking things off with him, I literally married my now husband just ONE MONTH after my last relationship and I felt SO confident and excited to marry this person. A long time ago an elderly lady once told me "You just know when you know. You will feel it's right" and she got married within 3 months of dating her husband too. At the time, I didn't understand it and judged her decision (very ignorant younger me). Now, I completely get it - the right person will come to you and you will feel it in your heart and soul.

Crying with you! ❤️ You saying that you don’t have any expectations, just the love and joy of just being with Jordy in this marriage - is EVERYTHING. You truly deserve this happiness and love that has surrounded you. And as a so cal girlie, selfishly I have loved seeing you heal your heart to California and find your tribe in Oceanside!!

I got married to my second husband a year and a half after my first divorce. I didn't have a shower or bachlorette party with my second marriage and it was an extremely small ceremony, which is what we both wanted. I honestly don't think my family or friends would have come to a shower since they had already been to one for me. At the end of the day, you have to do what feels right for you and not what's right for anyone else. Congratulations again, can't wait to see how it all unfolds for you.

As a divorced and remarried woman, I felt so validated by this video! I totally had that same feeling of "I don't care about any of this wedding stuff, why should I do this again" and made it all about my future husband and what he wanted. We ended up eloping, which was a great decision for us (and I highly recommend for anyone thinking about doing it). Dresses gave me a weird feeling especially ... hard to explain. But I wore a custom purple dress I got on Etsy and it was perfect! Thank you for sharing your emotions with us, it is so valuable, and best wishes to you both

I never comment, but girl I am just so excited for you. Obviously, we only see what you show us, but just seeing little bits of how much he loves you makes my heart happy. Have the wedding you want, and just enjoy being in the relationship you deserve.

I’m SOOO excited for you!! As someone who didn’t have a Bachelor Party, who only had 2 bridal showers because others wanted to have them and celebrate (my husband was at one of the showers cause we both wanted to be there and celebrate with people), were much more quiet about being excited and private about the whole thing, do what is your style! The wedding didn’t mean as much as the marriage did to either my husband or I. We had less then 60 people at our wedding (30 on each side of close friends and family) and focused on spending the most on food, the photographer, and having the people we cared about there. It was simple and we followed our hearts and not what other people thought we should have. My dress was a little different then what was “normal” for a cathedral, and the ceremony was in a side chapel that we loved and not the main area that my family wanted. Do what makes you happy and both feel is right. You deserve everything if you want it ,but don’t feel pressured out of wanting something sweet and simple. I had always dreamt of a big wedding but as I got older and lived through the good and bad it wasn’t my style when it came down to it. I wouldn’t change a thing! Do what you feel is you now and not the you back then. Follow your heart and trust yourself. You got this girl!

I started watching your videos when you were already married so I never saw your wedding prep stuff etc. So I definitely think you should enjoy doing all the wedding things bc you truly deserve it. It will be a totally different experience for you and I don't think you should feel bad about having those experiences. So many of us are so excited for you and to see you so genuinely happy! So go for it and don't hold back!!

This is why people say you should give yourself a chance to heal before embarking on these major life moments. I get it’s been 1.5 years with Jordy, but some more time pre engagement could have let your heart accept this more openly. You clearly love him but the hurt is still preventing you from embracing it fully. But, even if this came earlier than expected, you have like 50-60 years ahead with this man. Just ENJOY YOUR WEDDING. It’s both your first time marrying a real partner that loves you deeply ❤🎉 Your love is beautiful, he’s amazing, and you deserve to be happy. Let that stuff go. Have the dress trial, bachelorette, all of everything you want.

I have a unique ring and never got a wedding band-I feel like it would distract from the beauty of my ring. I also kept my last name (much easier, also in my husband’s culture the woman doesn’t change her last name and I like that). Don’t be afraid to do it your way even if it isn’t “what’s done.”

Hi! I’d recommend target drive up for any time you’re low on things that are necessities like tp/ paper towels but really don’t want to expend a lot of energy having to go get it. They even let you order refrigerated items. It’s been a lifesaver for me since having kids. Hope that’s helpful!

Michel, the way I found you before your divorce was through your collab with Jamie Wolfer! I would LOVE wedding content from you! I still rewatch your old stuff regarding wedding planning. It’s also, as you said, very niche to experience it twice in your twenties. To whatever extent you feel comfortable sharing, please just know that I’m here for it!

Like someone else said- this shouldn’t be about this being your second wedding, that seems to put Jordy in second place. Makes this all about you & Jordy & the beginning of your life together. I remember I felt the same way when I got married the 2nd time, so I understand what you’re feeling is legit & real, but if I can go back and give myself any advice, it would be to quit talking about the fact that it was my second wedding & instead talk about the fact that I was marrying a wonderful person $& would be spending the rest of my life with them! ❤

Michel, it can be your redemption bridal shower and the same for your bachelorette party. You need to have all the fun and joy that comes alone with the wedding because there are different people in your life now who would probably want to celebrate your joyous occasion, so I say have your shower and bachelorette party. Give yourself permission to have more fun this time around and to let go of the what if’s or any of the other thought that may put a little kink in your hose because you can’t let negative people from the past get in your way of enjoying all the perks of this wedding! This wedding is what we are all proud of that enjoy your Vlog.

I was widowed at 25 and engaged again at 27. I went through the SAME emotions. Do I wear the white dress again? Do I have a bridal shower? Even though it’s his first wedding is it ‘appropriate’ for me to stick with tradition or am I being tacky? All things that lived rent free in my head. Anyway, that was 23 years ago but it didn’t take me long to look back and realize that my loved ones *wanted* to do these things for me. Enjoy the new beginnings and the new firsts!! In my case they were equally special and in your case they are MORE special! ❤❤

You deserve all of the happiness that comes with this whole experience, regardless of your past. I am so excited for you to go through this journey with Jordy, with the safe/ security he brings to your life and the growth you have made personally. I am also celiac and had some celiac guests at our wedding, but didn’t have a fully celiac wedding which ended up completely fine. We also paid for pretty much all of our wedding as well. I am so glad we did stick to exactly what we wanted and what felt authentic for us. So excited to watch what you choose to/ feel comfortable sharing of this new journey and chapter ❤

So happy for you Michel and you do deserve this! So excited to follow you on this new journey! Lots of us Christian girls out there have been engaged/married/nearly married more than once (I'm in my 20s too and my first engagement broke down 2 months before the wedding, with cheating etc from their side). I just recently got engaged again and the thought of replanning a wedding is sometimes overwhelming to me- you might know what I mean. I know in your case you also had more trauma, but please don't feel like you don't deserve this chance at celebrating your happiness with your friends and family, because you absolutely do! So happy for you and many good things in store for you!
