Thanks for being so cool about this video. i wasn't allowed near videos games growing up (legit i only played about 5 hours combined of pokemon, smash, and kingdom hearts before i was 24). Not everyone thinks about how much they've been learning over 30+ years and how hard it is to catch up, even for party games or casual play with friends

NES was released in 1985 and was considered retro during the Xbox360/PS3 era which started around 2005, so about a 20 year gap. N64 was released 28 years ago in 1996. N64 is mega retro these days.

If it's any consolation, not recognizing The Incredibles mild in comparison to not having even heard of Pokemon back in the late '90s/2000's. I actually encountered another tween/young teen at the time who hadn't. So, by comparison, you're positively a man of culture.

I think video games became more accepted during the Wii/360 generation. The Wii got grandparents to play games and 360/PS3 was getting more games with "realistic" graphics and adult topics like war and sex. The PS2 era definitely helped, because that's where more rated "M" games were becoming a thing. But also, people got PS2s to just be a DVD player. So, even kids who probably wouldn't have had a console in the house before had an excuse to try out some sort of game(s).

I’m not sure how old LK is but I’m 33 so my first system was the SNES which I think we got in ‘93 or ‘94. We had that up until just before the N64 dropped in ‘96, which I got for christmas just a few months after it launched in the US. So yes, OOT is retro in my opinion, but I’m also older than it. ALTTP was my first Zelda game and is still one of my favorites to go back and replay from time to time, along with OOT, both of which I have on multiple consoles and handhelds.

I believe it's because teenagers call everyone 18 old and they are the biggest player share in every new game and thus online discussions. And this talk goes away as the game get older. It happened with overwatch and valorant to lesser extent in recent years. And old age never mentioned in cs.

I would say all the 1st Gen 3D systems are Retro now. N64 and PS1 have an aesthetic that is more pronounced than what came after, even, if its of lower quality. What comes to your mind when you hear "Old School 3D Graphics". You see That PS1 Texture Warble or Those N64 Blocks(lol).

I think teens and younger players genuinely have an edge to competition purely because of the time they're able to commit. You see the same thing in games like chess, where kids are regularly at the top of club levels because they have more time to invest compared to a similarly "talented" adult. Definitely doesn't take away from the impressiveness a kid reaching such heights while they're young, though!

Depends on the settings she's using and how stable she is with the mouse. Using regular ass player with somewhat stable aim, it would be weird to see jumps like that. Completely beginners often crack the sens way too high, that their aim regularly jumps around because they can't control it. She actually under aimed behind the target on this clip. And she literally has to adjust after over flicking the 2nd flick on the "180" clip. I am assuming the current cheating tools are not advanced enough to flick right next to a target with some variance and require random micro adjustments, but rather just aim on them. I am by no means a pro at fortnite, I have not played after the first boom of battle royale. And I am not familiar with most cheating tools these days, but I have been playing M&KB shooters for almost 3 decades at this point. And it was actually very common to see similar jumps when gaming mice were about highest DPI with people who don't know what they are doing.
