Limitations- The influences a researcher/scientist cannot control that can restrict the method and results of the experiment. The extent to which the procedures used in an experiment can be used and how accurate it is. E.g. sample size, length of time, number of times experiment carried out, instruments of measurement used, environmental conditions (temperature, light, humidity) Precautions- Measures taken in advance to prevent harm during the experiment and ensure the procedures are conducted accurately and safely. Examples: correctly operating equipment and materials, taking accurate measurements (e.g. reading the level of reagent in a beaker/measuring cylinder; weighing on an electronic balance; equal size of potato strips); Sources of error- Any equipment limitations, improper techniques in handling materials/apparatus, making measurements and observations (human error) throughout the experiment that can cause inaccuracies in the results produced. E.g measuring levels of volume incorrectly
