I bought an epilator recently, as it is the cheapest method I found to pull hair out from the root. Truly, there is no pain like the epilator. It is the one and true pain. If you can endure, you are a special person. I have used it, and I am now a new woman. Because you can't be what you were to handle the epilator. You must be better, faster, stronger.

I use an epilator since I'm 16 (I'm 21 now), and I just don't feel any pain on the legs ^^ because the more you use it, the less it would be painful. Trust me ! And you will see in couple of years that you will have less hairs on your legs too. :) (sorry for the bad english, I'm french !)
@Francesca-bk5ki5 жыл бұрын
I use an epilator too, at the beginning it was painful, but now I'm used to it. After using it at least three times you will get used to it (but it may vary based on your pain tolerance). The only thing is that you need to exfoliate in order to not get ingrown hair :c sorry for the bad English😅

If you epilate frequently it goes from agony to painless and it's not like your nerves die, your hair just gets sparse and rootless. My hair grows back immediately from shaving, but over time with epilator I often forget to do my legs for a month or two and it's like... comparable to a week of not shaving (previously). Over time it kills the hair - thinner, less, etc. But yes, the pain in the beginning is way worse than any other method I've tried (like waxing).

Soooo... I epilate my vag. A lot of my friends are like, "are you a masochist?" But there's a trick to it. You gotta either get waxed or sugared first. Then as the hair slowly grows out from the roots, you epilate. Everyday or every other day for 2 weeks to get all the cycles of hair growth. After that, you'll see that it takes weeks for your hair to grow back and the growth is A LOT slower. The trick is to do when there is little growth and then maintain. A lot less painful and a hell of a lot cheaper. Simply can't pay $50 bucks every time I want a smooth vag and this way, I can do it at home myself. My epilator was $40 bucks and I bought it back in University. It's been with me for 6 years now. Still works like it's brand new. I recommend to get one that plugs into the wall so the charge is always strong.

I’m also a hairy person who has tried so many different things to remove hair, I’ve tried all of these except sugaring. I can attest to the epilator. I am bias since I have a very high pain tolerance but I love my epilator now. The first time I tried it in middle school I hated it and never used it again as a broke adult I got a new one and I use that and sometimes shave when I don’t have time. Tips I would give for an epilator. Use it when your legs are dry. Do it in the tub so all the hair falls in the tub and not on your floor. Go very slow. Do NOT pull it the way you would a razor or it will do what you said and cut the hair and not pull it at the root and will hurt more. After a minute your leg goes numb and it doesn’t really hurt that bad. I really recommend you try it again and it gets better I promise.

I was 12 when i started to remove my hairs & i started with an epilator and after 4 years.. i still use it and it‘s not painful for me because there‘s some ‚things‘ that you need to know. For a painless removal you should use Babypowder because it makes your skin a little bit more dryer and than it‘s easier and faster to epilate your ‚legs‘. The Hairs schould be 2-3 mm long and NOT longer! If it still hurts, you can use an Iceblock and cool your ‚legs‘.. cold helps to have it more painless. Epilations is only PAINFUL when you use it after shaving because shaving makes the hairs more harder! I use the Epilator for +4 years and i don’t feel any pain. For the persons who used shaving or waxing and now whats to use an epilator.. the 2-3 times it will be painful and then it won‘t hurt. My hairs come back in every 1,5 - 2 weeks

But if we're going to discuss results instead of the pain, NOTHING beats a good epilator for how much hair it removes and for how long lasting the results are. NOTHING.

I feel like this heavily depends on how often you wax at home, like when you first start waxing at home you've pretty shitty bec your hair is thick so its really painful and you're technique is bad but once the hair is thinner its less painful and you figure out how be more effective at using the wax. Whereas with a professional you'd obviously get the experience of someone who's been doing this for a long time but you pay wayyyy more and you have to schedule appointments which is annoying when its hot and you want to wear shorts. - Just as someone who's done both.

Also for me sugaring feels pain wise the same as waxing, it’s not bad at all. I recommend using a candy thermometer if you DIY it, it will help you nail the perfect consistency every time.
@Lara-wr2kv6 жыл бұрын
The thing about epilating is that it hurts SO much but the more often you force yourself to do it the less your hair will grow back. I've been doing it for half a year now and it still hurts but not as much as it used to. Also my hair is growing back slower and fewer (it grows really really fast and thick usually). My mom has been doing it for 6 years now and her hairs barely grow anymore and she has to epilate like every 3 to 4 month and she barely feels anything by now it's great!
@sparklemotion10186 жыл бұрын
Doesn't it cause ingrown hairs though, maybe worse than waxing? Epilator damages the root which can mean no more hair grows there but also could mean hair is trying to grow and gets stuck beneath the skin bc the follicle hole is straight and the hair grows back tilted. When my leg & bikini hair grew back after chemo I had major ingrown problems when the leg hair grew back a little bit curly. It looks like little black circles under my skin and shaving doesn't remove them (exfoliating to free the hair, THEN shaving helps).
@tarynpreston11296 жыл бұрын
I love it too!

I love mine too! I've been using it for a few years now and it I barely feel it at all, in some places on my leg. It took a while to get used too. If I waited for all my hair to grow back I feel it because I don't use it that often. It feels like tiny electric shocks. But it took a while to get over the fear and pain. I would just turn it on and stare at it and give myself a pep talk. Especially for the underarm. I can't do the bikini area yet. And sugaring is really cheap if you make it at home. That's great everywhere.

Honestly, sugaring is so very NOT bougie I’m Egypt. You simply heat up sugar in a pan, add a few drops of lemon, wait until they form that beautiful caramel like colour and texture as you see in the video. You can even eat some of it in the making, and you sugar yourself at home. All women in Egypt do it themselves at home. And, it’s the cheapest option in salons in Egypt compared to waxing for example. Because it’s all natural you can create it at home. I’m not sure how can you create wax from natural home remedies that are found daily. Yet, again you can buy the wax, the sticks, papers, and heater and do it yourself at home which obviously cost more. Sugaring leaves the hair soft, whiter, and also on the long run, your hair almost stops growing. However, I don’t like it BECAUSE it is extremely painful whilst applying it and as you peal it.

Another point... Over $100 dollars for sugaring is a rip off... A jar of the stuff shouldnt cost more than $10 if you get the expensive stuff!

i use an epilator regularly and it doesn't really hurt after repeated use. i actually really recommend it because you can do it on your own at home. but warning for if you're prone to ingrowns because it doesn't really help with that at all. the way to do it is start with very very small sections and slowly work up to doing your whole leg. it takes me about 30-45 minutes to do both my legs and my armpits. the armpits still hurt a little bit but the legs don't hurt at all

Professional waxer here! A lot of waxes now are more natural now, also sugaring and waxing do THE SAME thing. They are just applied differently and use different removal techniques. Legs are also one of the most painful parts because you have a lot of bone and a lot of hair on a larger part of the body. The hairs cycle at different lengths at different times, smooth results take longer on that part of the body anyway. Both options are better with time as you get hair that comes back sparse, thinner, and it grows back slower. Waxing also gets less painful when you are consistent with it (4 weeks in-between appointments and NO shaving). Waxing does not make the hair break off as long as you are applying and removing correctly. Sugaring still exfoliates the skin, because it is impossible to not get dead skin cells that are sitting on top of your epidermis. As far as waxing costs go it depends on your area. In California it will be more expensive than someplace else. Also, waxing takes TIME and it is a lot of physical labor on your Esthetician(Bending, upper body movement, and standing for long periods of time) so you are paying for a service that someone else is giving you and most likely has another client after you or before you and hasn’t had time to sit or eat. Being in this industry isn’t easy and it is difficult, but to give someone great results and help them with skin concerns they are having is rewarding! I love my job and working with people! Go give waxing or sugaring a try at least 3 times to see great results, I can honestly say it is worth it as I have waxed my whole body and have much finer and sparse hair! :)

Thanks for the review. Girl! You were epilating all wrong! That looked painful! First time epilating is scary and painful but THAT was another level of pain lol. You have to do it in mall strokes. Also, that small epilator would be painful, the more tweezers an epilator has, the less painful. I've had the most success with the emjoi imagine. I like epilator because it is a fast convenient clean up. It lasts so long, it is so smooth, and you can travel with it! Lastly, it is super cost effective! I also wax (I epilate in between waxes, or if I deny my hair grow too long, I wax lol...if it's after the winter, I trim my hair before waxing; waxing long hair is painful!). I mainly soft wax. I made my own sugar wax (it was ok, just stickier than soft wax, but it is water soluble, so clean up with hot water makes things easier than soft wax). I am now trying hard wax tomorrow. I think my sensitive skin in my underarms and low pain tolerance thighs would appreciate it!

I've tried all of these methods over the years (plus a few others - threading, anyone?) and it took five different attempts but I'm a firm epilator fan. Severe pain the first two times but after that - awesome. Once every two weeks and you're good. And I have thick dark hair, so my stubble is always visible with shaving. Epilator = no dark stubble.

The girl who did the sugaring, did it Wrong. I lived in Egypt and I've seen the locals do it, And I tried it myself. They put the sugar paste in the direction of the hair growth and pulled it against, because if one does otherwise it's going to go everywhere around the little hairs and Of Course it's going to hurt more. All I can say is that: the person who applied it to you has Never been to Egypt and know Absolutely Nothing about sugaring.

You should give the epilator another chance! I got a fancyish one like 8 years ago for 80€, it also has a trimming head, I use it every 2 weeks on average and it has NEVER let me down. I get both half-legs done in 20min and the sides of my bikini area have built up a pretty good pain tolerance. Another advantage is that the hair follicles get thinner and more fragile, so if I see I've forgotten something I can usually pull the hairs out with my fingers :D

You used same Philips epilator i'm using. I use it for years. It helps if you do body scrub day before. Don't apply lotion 24 hrs before. Skin has to be oil free, wipe with alcohol if you want to. Epilator has to be at 90° angle, on/off button facing you. The best time to epilate is right after period or while ovulating. The worst time would be while on pms. Apply aloe vera after. Exfoliate after a week to prevent ingrown hairs. Use dry brush regularly. I epilate once a month.
